Eriksen,Willian,Cavani,Fraser, Guerriero, Mertens,Modric,Matuidi

2021
Thauvin,Milik,Depay,Telles,Grimaldo,Tonali,Berge

Some very interesting options. Yet we are going behind unrealistic players like Sancho.

Hope someone is seriously looking into it.

We should be looking at 35 year old Modric over Sancho, clearly.

There is no Irony.its called planning until we get a permanent solution. If Pogba and Matic leaves, that's us needing 5 midfielders. Not to mention a striker and a right winger.
If Matuidi or Modric can do the job for 2 years until we fix the mess, they would be great free signings.

Matuidi will be 33 next year and Modric 35, have we learned nothing from the Scweinsteiger transfer?

I can see Juventus signing some free players. I wouldn't be surprised if they sign quality players like De Gea, Alderweireld, Modric, Eriksen, Cavani... At the end, the would have money to spend on someone like Chiesa.

It doesn't have to be always like Bastian. They are all quick short term fixes until we stabilize things from our end. And the list also contains other players who all will provide better options for us.

Mertens is a free agent. If we can't identify a striker, he would be a good back up to Martial

Mertens is too good to be a back up to a player he's better than.

Ofcourse and our guy is becoming a sick note. It's not like he is going to stay as backup for ever. At 33, he wouldn't demand full playing time either.

Is it me, or is the OP suggesting a load of old crap on the whole? If we want to play better and have a team that is top 3 and winning something, none of the above will give that.

We need to stop shopping at Aldi for 29+ year olds waaay past their best and on big money. This is the road to ruin signing these sort of players. We want players on the up not on the down.

Rumors that Mertens has agreed to join Inter on a free.

Really hope, we try to get him in.

We need to plan longer term than simply slapping a plaster on it as a quick fix.

Injury free Guerreiro is a no brainer, but unfortunately he spends more time on the medical department than training. That left foot is a beauty.

Even one of those would be an upgrade on what we have. Your getting a lot of stick and i dont know why. Getting 1 or 2 of these on a free would be great business.

You will always get the caf posters that say we shouldn't be looking at this player or that players. Too old etc.. our squad is full of shit and Matuidi at 32 is full of life. Hes super fit and is an all round midfielder.

Cavani is a top player and I'd have him over Zlatan if its for a year or 2.

Even Willian is starting games for Chelsea and looks a top player still.

Your post was hinting at short term fixes. Something i see nothing wrong with

Exactly- you dont get all the signings you want in one window. So we have to go with cheap but good alternatives who can take us forward.
Maddison and Sancho is not happening in one window as both will cost 100m each. It doesn't always work like in FM.

Even in recent FM, you can't sign both.

Sancho in FM2020 will cost at least 120 million, Maddison on longer contract will cost at least 100 million.

I'm expert at FM, don't @ me.

I'm pretty sure I have seen Willian's contract about to expire for like 3 times now.

Either that or Mourinho mentioned him a lot, enough to twist my mind.

This fascination with signing players on a free is comical, the club ends up paying the player far more than what their worth and is going to have a knock on affect on every contract renegotiation. I'm predicting Juve are going to have huge problems given what their paying Ramsey & Can.

I am 90% sure that Eriksen will be sold in the January transfer window. He's having a bad season by his standards for Tottenham, and is not signing a new contract. Levy needs to sell now to retain some cash for him, or let him walk for free in the summer. It doesn't look like Tottenham has a lot to play for this season unless their form improves. Eriksen might be deemed to invaluable to the team to sell, but that's a longshot considering how much he's a bench option right now.

MUFC targeted Eriksen in the 2019 summer window. They might be willing to do so again. Will he want to come here though? Eriksen has stated that he wants a new challenge in a different environment. Continuing in the EPL might not be high on his list. The player has expressed that he wants to play in Spain for RM. Pogba remains Zidanes main target, and Ødegaard will likely join Real Madrid in the 20/21 season. Eriksens Reall Madrid ship have likely sailed.

Cavani is not a player we want. Depay will 100% never be offered a way back to MUFC, we don't re-buy players. Do the rest have something to offer that we don't have, or will recruit through younger talent? Mertens is a interesting option, but he's not good enough to be a new "go to" guy that displaces Rashford and Martial.

18/16 goals in Seria A the last 2 seasons, on pace for 14 goals this season. Those are not bad numbers, but we already have our main threat signed on long term contracts. The club will be looking to buy goal hungry "supersubs", or even players who can be effecient while unloading the other forwards working responsibility in select games. If Mertens would be interested in that, I say sign him up.

The rest I'm not bothered with, Matuidi as a holding midfielder is not the worst backup, but he's over the hill. Good for 3-4 goals on the season. Modric will retire in Real Madrid unless he goes to MLS.

If Pogba DOES go this summer (Im not convince he will, especially if we do manage a CL spot), Im hoping that MUFC demands Martin Ødegaard in retur + £100m. Granted that is a pipe dream, Ødegaard has been very vocal that his end goal is Real Madrid.

There's alot of cheap buys to make if we're interested. Milik upfront, Fraser on the Left, Eriksen as no 10, Soumare and Tonali as cheap options in CM while Thuavin as RW with Ferran Torres/Jarrod Bowen as cover.

Wouldn’t take a single one of those even for nothing, bar maybe Eriksen
You would not take Mertens on a free transfer, a player who can play from the right or up front and consistently scores and assists, is that in case it ruffles Lingard and Mata, who as we know are tearing it up

Adil Aouchiche is an interesting one for sure — one of the most accomplished midfielders in his age bracket yet in the last year of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. They will probably renew over the coming months with a pro deal, but we should definitely be on the lookout if he fails to reach an agreement with the club because every so often you can benefit off such situations by being opportunistic and swooping in with a good project...like Arsenal when they signed Cesc, United when we signed Piqué and Rossi, Juventus when they signed Pogba and Coman, etc.
Not 100% convinced he has what it takes to become an important player at the first team level (transitioning from youth teams is always tricky) but this would be a pretty risk-free signing all things considered, and even if he doesn't live up to his billing, United could have a somewhat cheap squad player (with the option of selling him to another club).

I am sorry but it doesn’t. At all. Free agents usually get a massive signing on fee, and then clubs keep their wages within budgetary limits. Juve have been doing it for years. It’s not complicated. Obviously they can negotiate a better wage, but structuring it thusly, requires no knock on effect on the wage structure.

When is Pogba's contract expiring? Sell him and replace him with Maddison / Grealish and Ødegaard / Havertz .

How much could they get for him? Any club interested could just snap him up for free six months later.

I don't want him myself - obviously phenomenal the past five years, but looks to be declining and relies a lot on his physical engine too - could be another Matic/Mata/Sanchez/Rooney/Schweinsteiger (seriously, this fecking club ) situation. Doubt he wants us either.
