If what They play at times is unplayable then how come do They play it at times?

A full fit season, and he could make that no.9 spot his for France.

With his hold-up ability as well as actual pace, he surely offers something no other French striker does? Giroud is third choice at best domestically (and now 33), Benzema is basically banished... who else? Ben Yedder and Lacazette are both different type of strikers (as well as inferior players). Grizou plays behind the striker, and Mbappe is normally out wide?
At a push he will be on the bench, even if he scores 40 goals till the end of the season, there is no way he starts for France under Deschamps

Happy to see him back in the squad. It's no shame to not be a part of this French team, there are so many talented players right now, it's really a golden generation for France and it doesn't seem to stop with the youth teams coming up either. I think Martial easily has the talent to be a part of the team long-term, but that can be subject to change with the incoming of talent in the near-future. If he wants to nail a spot long-term, he needs to start asserting himself now.

Is Martial good enough for the French side? I mean the jury's still out on him as part of United's long term attack, what makes people think he's good enough for the world champions?

Right now Mbappe is a shoo-in for the right and you would think if France opt to move away from the big target man Giroud a shoo-in for the central striking role. Giroud right now is needed to get the best out of Griezmann who's obviously fairly untouchable that leaves one position free, Martial could fill it I guess but his competition would be the likes of Coman and Dembele who both play at a much more demanding level than Martial does

So much nonsense in one post. Is Martial good enough for France? Of course, that's why he gets selected when he plays regularly for his club. Even in this instance Deschamp has said he's been left out because he's just came back from injury and hasn't played much.

And as for Dembele and Coman playing at a much higher level than Martial, this statement is another case of posters on these boards being ignorant of what really goes on outside United hence we get claims such as yours. In what alternate reality has Dembele been playing at this much higher level you seem to think? Have you even watched him play the past 2 years at Barcelona and are you even aware of his struggles there.

This is Caf in a nutshell. Throws random names, make absurd claims and hope everyone is not informed to pick up on the blatant nonsense.

Both Dembele and Coman have outperformed Martial though, even with their struggles whether it’s form for Dembele or injuries for Coman (who has had some great performances for France in the last few qualifiers).

Martial still definitely has a chance, but he hasn’t shown more or even as much as those guys so far, this is his opportunity to change that.

If Martial remains injury free and maintains his form there is no reason for him not to have a reasonable chance of making the squad.

As an aside, is it me or do our players have a tendency to go overboard after a couple of good performances? Its good that Young is batting for Martial but I feel it would be better if they just let their performances talk. I think being under constant scrutiny when not doing well gets to them and they feel a release after an upturn and go the other way. Need to maintain focus if they want to continue the positive form.

Seems like he should be Mbappe's protection, like if he's injured he's in the squad and if not I'd probably go with Ben Yedder as the 6th attacker after a target man (Giroud right now, I guess Haller or Dembele soon enough?), Mbappe, Griezmann, Dembele and Coman, since he's probably a better bench option for a late goal.

But if Mbappe is hurt they don't really have a dynamic ballcarrier who isn't a slight winger type, so I'd have him in the squad to play against higher lines.
