Great see him back in the Spain squad and took his goal very well. Seen him in La Liga couple of times recently too and is a very classy footballer, great technique, physically still seems fine despite the terrible injury and being 34.

Sure, but it's not nutjob that fans are fine with paying a player premium wages to basically be an ambassador of the club and add "experience".
Everyone at Manchester United will be on premium wages. Not sure why you're honing in on Juan Mata for it.

Cazorla was a class player at his peak, at least we got to enjoy him in the PL for a while.

Exactly, we paid for his treatment for 2 years and then let him go on a free :houllier:
To be fair I thought it was a touch of class from Arsenal sticking by him during his injury period and no-one could have predicted how well he'd come back from it. Can only say it was the wrong decision with the benefit of hindsight.

It's absolutely deserved. Mata is an incredibly nice guy, but he has been a huge flop for us and I feel he lost his desire and ambition to be one of the best players.

He is just happy to stay here and collect a very fat pay check that players of his current ability can only dream about. Only 31 years old, yet looks like a grandpa when playing. No bite and no purpose to his game anymore and it's been like that for 2 years or more.
There is still no reason to mention him at all in this thread. This one is about Cazorla and his comeback from injury. Don't derail the thread

Yeah, it was classy. Wenger was behind it. But he should have been retained for 1 more year at least. It's not even because he's turned out to be good. We didn't even have a last match where he could thank the fans and stuff.

That's not the point, this thread is about Cazorla.

He's still class, to be fair. Would still get into the majority of midfields to this day.

Really likeable player. Got a soft spot for him. I liked when he was playing deeper for Arsenal he was great at transitioning and was so silky.
Same. Despite his size, his strength on the ball was incredible. Like Arthur and Verratti today, he could shield the ball from players twice his size, turn 180 and keep the ball under control, and, in doing so, entice the opposition player into fouling him thus relieving all the pressure.

Leaving La Liga at the end of this season. Incredible story.

Got a great sending off in his last game and also got an assist, brilliant little player. Hopefully he comes back alongside Arteta when he's done filling up his bank account in Qatar

Indeed amazing, was out for 636 days during which he had 8 operations and a skin graft. Was a huge loss to Arsenal when got injured.

Coming back to play 2500+ league minutes at such a high level in each of last two seasons pretty incredible story.

One of the players I found it strange Arsenal couldn’t get more out of. He was so instrumental to the success of The Yellow Submarine before he left, and noe they’re up at fifth again with him.
He won 2 FA Cups with Arsenal, so it wasn't all that bad.

My favorite player of the last decade. He was such an excellent player with end product and he could get stuck in when necessary. Pure class loved watching him play.

He was an incredible player for sure. When Wenger moved him deep alongside Coquelin, I believe he lost a lot of that end product in terms of scoring and assisting, but it really didn't matter because his general play was so good.

You'd have thought it'd be risky Wenger transitioning him into a deeper CM considering his size, but he was deceptively strong. He could shield the ball under pressure from players twice his size, produce quick turns to relieve himself from pressure, and more than held his own defensively, too.

I loved him in the deeper role he had such fantastic skills that he could beat the press. The main reason for me why we lost out on the 15/16 title is because he got injured.
