The club was naive to think that appointing managers that were a 'safe pair of hands', over young exciting innovative managers who don't have a high trophy count so far, was the way to go. Football philosophies evolve all the time. Ancelotti, Van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Wenger, Martin O'Neil etc were hero's of yesterday but already dinosaurs today.
