Once you got an SSD you really cant go back. My old laptop with windows 10 used forever to start up, new one with SSD and i am on the start screen within 20 seconds

Most of the people that bought the Pro wouldn't mind spending the extra money for a SSD, a lot of people I know ended up swapping it out themselves after buying it. Sony even made it so easy to do.
Yes, by the time ps5 comes out NvMe will be the new standard.
I think Sony just wanted to price it low enough (same as the original launch price) in the hope that it would essentially become the new go-to model for newcomers, rather than simply an "elite" model for those who wanted to spend a bit more (and PSVR and 4K users of course).
I hope they release 2 different models, have the PS5 or PS5 elite with extra upgrades. That way they can set a fair price and not cost cut to give us better performance out of the box.
Yeah I probably just for general usability an SSD will be the most noticeable improvement for a general user, loading time, opening of applications and media files. I used to game a bit, not so much now and load speeds etc were unbelievable. Also reduced noise and temps make SSDs a massive improvement, sadly for consoles even the 1TB are still quite expensive.
Maybe, but I doubt they would release both at the one time as with all new consoles the failure rate will be higher than normal and as Sony make very little profit off the actual hardware it wouldn't be cost effective to have multiples models on release. What they should really do is simply release a hard drive bear console and allow people to install their own if they want to.

I know Microsoft had it planned for Scarlet but then scrapped it and are now just going to be focusing on one console for now before releasing further new versions of it later down the line.

I knew someone would make a bitch ass comment like this but I didn't expect it from you of all people and I'll never look at you with the same loving affection again. If you type in NVMe on a shopping site it shows M.2 cards and it's generally the defacto term for them.

Sounds like a modern day big business model. I assume they'd only do this knowing they want to charge a ridiculous amount that some won't pay. Then they'll start upping the lower cost models because "hey look, you can't expect to get such a bargain forever, there's R&D to do!". Ergh.
There'll be nothing left that doesn't absolutely stretch your bank account in 10 years time.

The PS4 had some of the best games of the decade that you can't get on PC and I imagine this will be the same.
It's still a SSD , just different interface.

While PC gaming will always be superior, it isn't cheaper to go PC.
Also many, myself included, just prefer the ease and accessibility of consoles. Even having a powerful gaming rig I play most AAA games on console because I prefer to sit back and relax rather than being hunched over my mouse and keyboard.
Also you cant technically get the games you listed on PC so you're in the minority playing them on PC. The masses will always buy consoles and PC gaming will fill the niche for "hardcore"gamers.
I don't see the point of coming into a thread about PlayStation 5 and telling people to get a pc. That just creates the same tedious "discussions" we've seen ad nauseam. Clearly this thread is intended for people interested in the PS5.

As I said if I wanted to play TLoU, Detroit, God of War, Bloodborne and a lot more, I can now do it on a pc.
The only reason I mentioned the PC thing is because I think a lot of people don't realise how long term, PC gaming is cheaper, more accessible and just a better quality experience, and with the talk of the PS5 being 5-600, jumping to a PC is a good argument to make

Although a PC can do all them things and be just a 'slightly bigger box'
Problem with PC is if you're not upto scratch with he technology side you can quite easily get robbed when buying. Also, you need to check specs of games to see if they'll run on your rig. There's also the way pc games push pcs to and past their limits so you need to upgrade for best performance. Console games are made with the consoles in mind so everyone gets pretty much the same performance.
I used to love PC gaming by now I much prefer console gaming due to not having the space in the house for a dedicated setup, and getting less time to play these days means a console is easier just to pick up and play for me.

I'm building a gaming PC this xmas - will use it for xbox game pass on PC + the microsoft exclusives. Then i'll probably get a ps5 to play the sony exclusives.
True - and also the games on consoles get better over time as developers get more efficient with the system.
Whereas there is no ceiling on PC games which means your rig starts to show the strain.
Unless you upgrade which negates and cost savings.

I have a PC but also a console peasant too. It just seems to me people are getting ripped off, the SSD in the pro is one example.

The latest high end cards and processors last a long time these days, even when you do start falling behind you just turn the details down a notch and it's still an amazing experience better than any console. But I agree you need to know what you are buying when building it.
To be fair it’s not quite the same experience.
Even though I got a good PC, I still enjoy owning consoles and not really going to leave that ecosystem behind.
