OMG, it's just so damn good, the best thing on TV for me. I had managed to avoid all news of this (despite having watched all the Clone Wars and Rebels), so I'm just blown away at seeing movie standard production, and jacked to see both a Mandalorian and a baby force-wielding Yoda relative?/compatriot? Bit sinister that it was the remnants of the Empire that put the bounty out for him. Hoping he doesn't hand over the Child. Begs the question of course, where is this Child during the Last Jedi (which now looks to need to be renamed!)?

This feels like “real” Star Wars, enjoyed that episode. The music is good.

I didn't have a problem with the length--particularly considering how much it must cost to produce at this quality. I don't remember Rebels being any longer, and that was just a cartoon.
Yes, but Rebels has 22 episodes per season, and with only 8 episodes in season, this is very short.
Is it just me or should people understand what they're criticising before they criticise it?

Bounty hunters are races that had a meeting with Vader in Empire, this rhino from last episode from Episode II if I'm not mistaken, monkey-lizard from Jedi, Jawas,...makes the whole Universe too small, and it's so fecking lazy.

I was disappointed with Mythrol at the start. The blue fish-face guy that The Mandalorian captures that 'needs' to use the toilet. He just looked like a random bloke with a halloween mask on, as opposed to say Rune Haako or General Grievous who look convincingly like some evil species you've never seen before.
But apart from that... it's awesome. The bounty droid is pure class. Like something out of a real non-Disney Star Wars movie.

IMO it's just an exaggeration. No way did a
barely 30 min episode of the Mandalorian cost nearly 20 Mill to make. GOT was expensive to make because it had great costumes, fantastic sets, a huge cast and really good CGI, plus each episode was nearly an hour long. I've been hearing this 15 - 20mill spend per episode a lot lately. Apparently every episode of the Morning Show and See, both Apple TV specials cost 15 mill per episode. I've seen 5 episodes of both and if no idea what they spend that money on. At least Tge Morning Show has a great cast, See has very little to CGI, the entire thing is based In a forest so no expensive sets and other than Jason Momoa, no big names. Similarly the Mandalorian, it has good CGI but other than that, there's nothing to suggest that an episode costs 20 Mill to make. IMO it's just a way to generate hype. I mean, if an episode cost 15 mill to make, it must be good right, at least visually. Also, it a way of telling people that they are serious about their streaming service and so are investing heavily
The second episode had like two lines of plot and a sizeable portion of the episode was just the guy walking around. I feel that's the problem with this weekly realese. There will be a lot of filler episodes or episodes in which barely anything happens to make the customers extend the subscription for another month.
The most likely explanation is the story they came up with doesn't need hour long episodes. I'm pretty sure Disney aren't going to penny pinch on this as it's currently the biggest reason for people to get Plus.
CGI is expensive. This series will have a ton more CGI than GoT.
And I loved this last episode, didn't think it a filler at all. There's a real Space Western feel to it. And Baby Yoda, man!
The Last episode wasn't a filler episode but IMO the story moved forward very little in that episode. I'm not a big star wars fan so maybe that's why I've not found this series to be as good as people claim it to be.

I think the episode is not a filler and is significant, because it's now when he realizes this is not a usual bounty and he's a pawn in a bigger stakes game.

I'd like to see you beat an ambush by dozen jawas armed with ion blasters or that horned fecking beast.
Not that. It felt so stupid that you climb that wagon knowing you're going to face lots of jawas up there and still do it only to get stunned and fall down. Surely any warrior would have better sense. And he didn't even put up a fight against the beast. Just stood there and let it bounce him.
Just felt that the action sequences could have been shot better in this episode.
They seemed pretty afraid of him, so it's likely he thought he could take them on reputation alone. We've been shown their egotism before in the films.
Against the beast, his primary weapon was damaged so there wasn't a lot he could do. One or two hits from that thing would leave even the greatest warriors dazed.
Yeh I was hoping for a more mature and thought out series but it looks like he is basically a disney character who's gunna get by on dumb luck. Partly at least, I guess we're getting something inbetween.

If he's too good at what he does (i.e. lethal and cold) he'll be somewhat unlikeable and viewers won't relate to him. Only Vader has that sort of quality.
I see Disney trying to strike a balance between a character who is an experienced bounty hunter, which we've seen in the opening scene and working with the bounty droid, but less experienced in other areas. The jawas stealing the parts of his ship was clearly not something he's experienced before, which led to a serious error in judgement (range based decision making rarely works out). He was clearly humbled when entering negotiations with the jawas, possibly because he didn't recognize that as traders he could have done this first.
Likewise, stealing the beast's egg also seemed unbecoming of a bounty hunter and his inexperienced performance was not surprising.
I wonder if we re going to see a bit more about the training bounty hunters receive and the network supporting them. I'm a bit surprised they immediately jumped to the action parts. I hate how so many shows seem to rely on flashbacks these days - which is probably the only way we ll get to see some of that character history.

I've enjoyed it despite the short episode lengths. But something about it does feel a bit off. The episodes feel even shorter than they are in a bad way. While visually it looks amazing it feels a bit like a low budget web series story wise (i suppose it is a web series).

I hate you for reminding me of the GoT feck up. What amazing episodes we had on that show..and yet I have no interest in re watching it anymore.
Anyway.. I digress.

My exact feelings. I think it's because there's like very little actual story involved. For example, the last episode had extensive shots of the guy walking around and rebuilding his spaceship. That's OK if each episode is like 45 mins long, but this is barely 27 mins. When it was over I was like, Errr, that's it? That's all for this week?
