Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he makes an attempt for Lukaku in his second year, if he’s still there.

Lukaku wanted a new experience so hardly likely he’ll return. Jose has the best finisher at his disposal since Drogba why would he need Lukaku

It's all a bit strange isn't it - especially since people appear to think he will be trying to buy a ton of Utd players who essentially failed him during his time there.
He failed the players and the team.
By the end he just fielded players he liked and had no system. He’ll field players he likes and trusts at Spurs too. It’s his way

I think Levy and Mourinho's agreement would be that Mourinho doesn't get involved in any transfers. If that's the way they did it, they are going to be one strong team as Levy is dam good in the transfer market.

It appears they may be looking to appoint a director of football who would most likely handle the transfers.

This may be a wise move on their part going off his transfer dealings at Utd. The trouble is that when his shite football inevitably fails he will then blame the DOF for buying the wrong players.

Yeah the Lille guy? If Levy pays compensation to get him, it will be VERY interesting, a total change on spending.
Seeing that, don't you think Poch might feel slighted by it? Like wasn't he asking for signings a long time before this summer, and Levy was throwing breadcrumbs his way? Or was it because Levy did not trust Poch to bring the right players in?

If he goes full troll and signs Fellaini and Matic, we can go ahead and give the guy an Oscar.

Wouldn't be a surprise if he goes for someone in January like Dzeko, Mandzukic, or Giroud in January to offer back-up for Kane, a bit like Llorente did for them.

Their deepest issues lie at the back having failed to replace Trippier, Lloris seriously injured, and their main CBs running their contracts down. He'll probably want to recruit in each of those positions but won't be able to do anything until the summer.

I also think he'll want a Willian type winger who does an awful lot of work off the ball. In the meantime he'll probably use Sissoko off the right hand side.

IF and its a big If we see spending now its simply due to all the infrastructure being completed, Poch came in when the training ground was going in, all the way through to the stadium which he had a lot of input into. Poch signed for us knowing there would be no money. Its just a shame that the rot has been with us for 9 months or so and I think he had lost parts of the dressing room. I slight on Poch, no I don't think so just rotten timing.

His signings for us:

Zlatan - class
Micky - dud and sold
Pogba - expensive dud, dressing room problem
Bailly - injured dud
Lindelof - dud
Lukaku - expensive dud and sold
Sanchez - expensve dud and sent out on loan
Matic - dud and we are running his contract down
Dalot - looks like an expensive dud for a teenager, paid £18m for a player who had played 7 first team games for Porto.
Fred - expensive dud

No wonder we are in a such a terrible position.
Slightly kind on Zlatan, he was good but he missed a lot of big chances. Look back on threads from his time with us, a lot were frustrated with him. Harsh on Lindelof and Pogba. Neither have been duds.

I agree with the rest.

Agree to some extent. I feel eventually we need a faster CB next to Maguire. I don't think they compliment each other very well. Pogba playing as a number 10 for us has been very good. But he was bought as a CM and he simply can't play the role. Everytime we play a midfield two including Pogba defensively we are all over the place. I don't know why Solskjaer has been looking for number 10s on the market when DM is far more of a priority in my opinion. Let Pogba flourish without defensive duties and be protected by two defensive minded players when he invariably loses the ball on occasions.

As for Zlatan, he did miss some chances but created goals from nothing as well. I still think he has been the best signing for us since Fergie retired. He came in as a free transfer at such a late stage in his career. There was no honeymoon period for him to get used to the league. He scored in the Charity Shield, two in the League Cup final as well. Unfortunately he got injured before the Europa League final. I was gutted when he got injured because it meant we had to spend big on a striker. We wasted £90m on Lukaku. Had Zlatan not got injured Jose may have strengthened elsewhere.

I’d rather give Poch a big kitty than Jose to be honest. Be interesting to see what Poch does now, a year ago he was one of the hottest managers about and now he’s just been sacked after a run that has been more like relegation form than title challenging.
Likewise it'll be interesting to see what Mourinho does: it's been a long time since he was at a club (like Spurs) that doesn't have oodles of cash to spend on players.

What are the odds they become a lot better than us over the next few years
These are the kind of teams Jose is made for. Outside shout with winning anything but in the conversation, club willing to back his ideologies in exchange for silverware, players willing to buy into his methods.

Jose isn't cut out to manage a team that has a set way of doing things, he needs to be able to mould the club to his will. I think he'll get that, somewhat at Spurs. The money will obviously be a big stumbling block for him but it makes it easier for him to create a siege mentality when he can state the rest of the PL have way more resources than Tottenham but look at how well he's got them doing.

I think they'll appoint Luis Campos to take care of this - Mourinho won't be heavily involved in player recruitment.

I think he'll get someone on loan as Kane backup, probably Mandzukic. Summer is when any 'spending' takes place but something tells me it won't be to his liking/level.

In a way Mourinho is in a win-win situation this season, if he fails then he can say it wasn't his team and he achieves some success then he can say it is because of him. Next season will be the real test, I still see them losing those want away players so they will have to buy well or promote youth.

What's the going rate for the 'best young rightback in Europe'? £60m+? If so we could flog him Dalot for that.

According to portuguese press, unless someone is leaving Levy is not opening the wallet, and Mourinho accepted those terms.

Did they fail him, or did he fail them?

Anyho, how do you feel about having a Chelsea leg end as Manager, or is the club rivalry a one-way street you having Arsenal and all.
