Josh Kroenke “He has Arsenal DNA”

The Arse look like they’re going through a similar dip as Utd have been through over the past few years, except they’ve skipped the LvG and Mou moments and gone straight for the old player with the clubs DNA.

Ljunberg, like Ole has taken over an unbalanced team in a toxic atmosphere shot of confidence and seemingly on the way down rather than up. The owners are facing heavy criticism for under investment etc, the fans are polarised and angry, so called WC players go missing and are accused of downing tools ..... sound familiar?

There’s also lots of talk of how Ljunberg gets the club, like Ole gets United, and even articles on how Wenger is available to him for advice, like SAF is there for Ole.

Are Arsenal going through the United motions without learning any of the lessons from United’s pain? Discuss...

Or their Lampard? That depends. Result wise he obviously isn't.

I wouldn't say they skipped that bit tbh.

Fergie retired a Champion while Wenger deteriorated in the dugout, he basically oversaw Arsenal's Moyes/LVG/Mourinho moments himself.

What a bizarre comparison. Other than the fact that they've both played for their respective clubs where else is the resemblance? Ole has been transformational because of the way he's empowered the core of the club - their homegrown youth. That empowerment has galvanized the club right through to the first team - essentially making them feel what 'Manchester United' is. Ole has made a conscious effort to reestablish the United culture. What culture does Arsenal really have? They really have established themselves as a banter club for 15 or so years

Hasn't Ole already got 10 years managerial experience? Ljunberg is more like the new Alan Shearer.

I don’t think it’s bizarre at all. Both clubs have come out from long term successful managers, Ferguson more successful than wenger obviously, both have to transform after being moulded in the image of one person for decades.

Both have fallen from the highs achieved in previous decades, both are managed by an ex player with little experience, who is talked about as understanding the clubs DNA. Ole is 12 months ahead of Ljunberg obviously, but the circumstances are similar. Both managers have taken over unbalanced teams in crisis. This is not a bizarre comparison! From the outside it’s quite an interesting one.

I don't think this is mentioned enough.

Fergie left us as Champions, in his last 7 seasons here we won the title 5 times, lost it one year by a point and lost it another year by a last minute goal on the last day of the season. Wenger didn't win the title in his last 14 years at Arsenal.

Following Fergie in 2013 was always going to be a much harder task than following Wenger in 2018.

The disrespect ole gets here is astounding. Ole has 10 years of experience in management and has won league titles with Molde. Just because we do not rate Norwegian league doesn't mean it does not exist. Ole has proven more than freddie has. So no comparison there.
