That's genuinely one of the worst football puns that I've ever seen.

Even though Ancelotti's star has faded somewhat recently, this is still a pretty bizarre move. It's like Robert DeNiro turning up in fecking Brookside.

Didn't Chelsea sack him in the tunnel at Goodison ? He's spiritually connected to the club now.

Everton has some very good players that Carlo can base his starting 11 on it, but they surely has some urgent needs on their squad. Still a top 6 squad wise.

I don't think this is gonna work out at all. My feeling is he'll do well for a year then down tools until they pay him his monster severance package. Just as Koeman did previously with Everton. Just as Conte did at Chelsea. Just as Sarri did at Chelsea.

Get some money before retirement, getting worse and worse:

from milan, real Madrid, Chelsea, psg, Bayern to Napoli, to Everton

Next? Parma? Greece national football team?

Very realistic pathway to be honest. Possibly like a weird international team to finish, Saudi Arabia, UAE, China, that sort of thing.

Will be excellent to welcome him back to The Bridge.

Has his stock fallen or something? He must be out of his mind.

4.5 years contract? Well, it will at least be a nice severance fee within 12 months probably...

We all love United
Doubt he has even heard of Everton until his stint at Chelsea. Will be interesting to see him today against another former Everton favourite

It's a cute signing but I doubt Ancelotti will do anything of significant note with Everton. Which would be a waste of the wage money they'll be paying him.

Super stoked about it! I want all our rivals to have the best options and then beat them one by one.. that's what Premier League is about.

It's Ferguson vs Ljungberg for this one.

Is this the first such game in PL history where both managers are making way for the new guy afterwards?

that’s it for neutrals, really... if everton can rise to a noisy neighbours position with carlo and the new rich owner, it will further increase competition and benefit the pl as a whole

Everton has a better manager than United, Chelsea and Arsenal. What a world that we live in..

Its the appointment Arsenal should have made while the low key appointment Arsenal made is what you would expect from Everton.

Be interesting to see how he does, the Merseyside derbies should be less of formality now.

Good to see Mr eyebrow back in the PL.

I do think he'll struggle at Everton though. The players he has at his disposal are seriously inferior to those at Napoli, and the players he had a Napoli were seriously inferior to those at Bayern, PSG, Milan, Real and Chelsea.

Better isn’t the right term. More experienced, yeah, but better for what each team needs? Nah. I’m still not 100% on board with Ole but I would not want him replaced by Ancelotti.

He's got a rebuilding job to do. Not sure he's the right man.
The squad seems quite good to me and suited for carlo’s trademark 4-2-3-1? Potential is high, they just needed a really good coach. If one, they might add to their midfield in January while selling one or two misfiring forwards imho.

Me neither.

Ancelotti seems great at managing superstar players and getting the best out of them. But he's totally unproven as a squad-builder and a guy who lays foundations.

So he may be suited to PSG or Madrid but he's a bad fit for United and an even worse one for Everton.
