He's not going to leave at any point before May so best to hope for is for him to learn from his mistakes and we sign a midfielder or 2 in Jan. Tbf at the moment are not that terrible to sack a manager immediately, not as crap as we were few months ago. 5th and about 5 points away from top 4. Much like LVG in his second season so I am sure he will get the rest of the season. After May it will be more logical to see where we are. I am sure if we end outside top 4 and not winning EL with Poch available, we will pull the trigger.

Ole's been on the job over a year now and we still have no set identity or play style besides hoping to hit every team on the counter...not good enougu for Manchester fecking United

Arteta has been on the job for less than 3 weeks and you can already see a play style and identity developing under him...

Same for Ancelotti in Merseyside
That is our style of play, that’s the big plan, play like a mid table Norwegian team. Hope some cliches and outdated thinking combined with patience will solve everything. You can only laugh as the club actually think they have come up with some kind of intelligent plan.

We are one of the biggest clubs in the world. Hanging on to Ole in a feint hope of reaching top 4 is absurd. Let’s get a manager in that is on the up, with a clear way of playing that is suitable for our players. I just can’t see Ole helping us get back to challenging to be in the top 4 , let alone mounting a challenge from within it.

His post match interviews and pressers make me so angry. I will be so pleased to see him leave, club is a state but having an inept manager is just the cherry on a shit cake.

I'm still somewhere between Ole in and Ole out but this post match interview pisses me off. You've just lost when you had a huge chance to close the gap to top 4. Stop fecking smiling.

This is what I’ve been saying for ages, we’re giving ourselves absolutely no chance. The idea that just because LVG and Jose failed, two previous world class managers but clearly not when they arrived at United, so we shouldn’t sign another experienced manager but a rookie from
the Norwegian league, is utter tripe.

He's 'intelligent plan' was telling Woodward that the squad is basically great, we don't need to splash the cash to stay in the top 4, music to Woodward's ears.

I'd like to think so with a real manager but it would be hard.
Chelsea have been shockingly poor for a long time now. Even if we are poor they will keep giving us chances. I said several times, this is pretty much LVG second season all over again.

If Chelsea were any way better we would have been far from 4th by now but here we are.

David Moyes lost 15 times as permanent manager after 53 games Ole has already beaten that by losing 16 in his 38 .I know you can argue they had different qualities in their teams but you have to be silly to be out doing what most would say is one of the worst managers post ferguson. I dont understand people who can defend Ole tbh

And cliches like the Utd way and barking back to SAF are exactly what Woodward and owners want to here. They don’t know anything about football or what is required to make the team relevant in this era of football. Their just hoping someone miraculously turns it all around and teal danger is they will persist with Ole our of desperation and we’ll sink even further.

This performance is solely on the players. They’ve been absolutely trash today.
Getting caught out tactics is due to the players? Now I really can't believe the excuses people come out with? Are you sure we lost because of only the players? Nothing to do with Vladimir Putin?

The hate Ole seems to get on here after each loss is insane.

Granted you expect some spicy hot takes posted a few minutes after a loss, but reading the last couple of pages you'd think that he's a work experience student who inherited a balanced squad teeming with quality and ready to mount a title challenge and is single-handedly holding it back.

Our owners are incompetent and lack any ambition beyond lining their pockets, our CEO is either an idiot or an ego-maniac (or both), our star player is taking the club and the fans for idiots as he forces his way out, our squad is unbelievably imbalanced and lacking so much quality in virtually every department.

Of course the manager isn't blameless, but I would have thought having seen 4 managers fail in the last 5 years fans would be hesitant to aim most of their ire at the poor fecker who happens to be currently sitting in the dugout. It's especially galling to me when the manager in question this time is probably the only person on the list of blame shoulderers who actually seems to give a feck about the club and the supporters.

We're watching the poorest United side of my lifetime. A squad that, at the start if the season, was clearly a Pogba injury away from being mid-table quality. It's also the youngest squad in the league and among the smallest and most imbalanced.

Yet a lot of our online fanbase (as there is very little of this among matchgoers), seem to get catharsis from chucking mud at the manager after every highly predictable and unsurprising loss or poor performance.

There's issues I have with Ole's tactics, selections and coaching. However, as Steven Howson likes to say, you can only piss with the cock you've got. You could put Klopp in charge of this lot with Guardiola as the head coach and we'd still see the same frustrating inconsistency.

Nailed it.

He inherited a poor side and has succeeded in making it several degrees worse. And as poor as it is, given the similar inadequacies in Spurs' and Chelsea's squads, we still have a squad capable of qualifying for the CL under a good manager who knows what he's doing. Unfortunately instead we've got a Football Manager 17 enthusiast.

Bookies gave Arsenal around a 38% chance of winning (similar to us). That's 62% chance we don't win the game and the inevitable abuse to follow here.
We lost because he has no clue as to what goes on the pitch during a match. He was blind to the fact that Xhaka had started to play as a false full back on the left. He did not pass any instructions to his team to mark him and that is where we conceded the first goal.
The man is not competent enough to be in charge of a club as big as United. Forget about United. He is not competent enough to be in charge of a PL club.

When you get caught out in tactics or ignorance then the Manager has to be responsible. We got caught out to tactics in the 1st and 2nd goals we conceded. Nothing to spin it anyway.

OGS is on the GOD excuses deluxe plan.

When we win it's 'Ole at wheel' when we lose it's all the players are sh*ite(especially Pogba whether he's playing or not) nobody could win with our sh*ite players.

Completely outthought and outmaneuvered tonight.

Also, when players are taking two million touches before releasing its because they don't know what to do as they don't know where to expect team mates to be. This is where coaching patterns of play comes in. A structure. A fecking something.

No counter attack available, we may as well go home.

It's getting sad now, and I don't even blame Ole cos he's only doing the best he can to his limited capacities.

The point is, Ole should never have got the job in the first place. We cannot do anything about the CEO and we cannot sack 23 players. My first advice would be to stop listening to Howson, he is an over aggressive condescending person.

Where i can blame Ole today is simple, he started Lingard (no goals or assists in over a year), it took him 60 minutes to make a sub and 80 minutes to adjust the formation, his post match talk shows no leadership or energy (players feed of this). Those are the main issues from this match and I have not even mentioned the football, how boring, slow, no press we are. Ole is out of his depth, we have an opportunity to get Poch with an open window.

The above is also the theme for the last 11 months. Nothing has changed sincr Feb.

He can't even coach the defence well enough and as a result they're looking vulnerable in every single game we play. And that to me isn't an issue with the players that Ole has inherited as we've spent millions on it over summer.

So really, how confident are you that he can coach a drilled team when he gets other players in in other positions? I've not seen any clear plan in Ole's vision apart from counter attacking football which doesn't work against the majority of teams.

You have to start asking, is he really the man to take us forward, what pedigree does he have that justifies having faith in him to take us up the top.

Yes I agree and when Xhaka went to the left and Ozil stayed on the right inside position alone in open space even a blind man can see what was going to happen. No one went to Xhaka and no one went to Ozil and Ole sat in his seat. He should be out of his seat and on the touch line screaming to his players to cover the positions. Then since he took over I have been harping about our set pieces and especially near flick corners. I am sure we never practice near post flicks. If we do not practice then its obvious we do not practice defending against it too.
For a coach I am really shocked at the lack of tactical awareness he has. What does Mike Phelan do too? These are basics in football tactics. This is not rocket science. Your chance of scoring a goal on the second ball is more than the first in a corner.

he also has higher win rates than a lot of managers including klopp & mourinho. sadly the situation isn't as simple as slinging out one stat and saying its unacceptable and sacking a manager without a plan

After game vs Arsenal:
  1. Ole’s plan for this game was to counterattack. Arsenal read the script and were prepared for our setup.
  2. It is pure idiocy to continue playing Lingard, and specially in this game with the form he is in. As expected, Lingard was atrocious and was asleep for the 2nd goal. I hope it’s the last game he plays for us, but Ole obviously isn’t willing to take that decision.
  3. Greenwood should have started over James: James had just played 90 minutes 2 days ago, and Greenwood was on great form before that.
  4. Why did we pay £80m for Maguire? The difference in the quality of passing and defending between him and David Luiz was obvious today.
  5. During the first half, with Arsenal on the front foot, our fullbacks were playing high time after time while Arsenal had the ball on our half. Why do we leave ourselves open like that when we have 2 CBs that aren’t known for speed?
  6. When Ole talks about consistency, it implies the players aren’t playing to their best. But we also need to look at the tactical mistakes made by Ole and his managers. They need to select the right players and tactics or it’s like sending our team with a hand tied behind the back.

There's no plan other than a vague sense to go out and try and win.
To be fair, Woodie and Ole have played a blinder in terms of managing expectations - top half seems a semi decent result with this manager and this squad.

I'm not Ole out right now because I think it will be too much pressure at the moment for the next manager. But can anyone tell me what Ole does that someone like Pochettino can't do

I’ve been Ole in all along hoping to see improvements and that there’ll be a corner turned but it’s starting to get to me now.
Him smiling in the post match interview, even if it was to save face or brave face it, wound me up for some reason.

I think at the moment I’m still Ole in just because I fear who the replacement would be and we would have to start all over again, again.

I just can’t see where we are going. Starting again implies that we have already started something. All I can see is more of the same. With 80million wasted on a center back. It’s not so much the loss against Arsenal, (although they were there for the taking) it’s the losses and performances against the weakest teams in the division.

Nobody really knows do they? We could easily bring someone in the players won’t respond to and it bombs, we can’t just keep on going on buying different players for different managers.

In advance, sorry for my english.

You say "he can´t even coach the defence well enough". We´ve just got rid of Mourinho, one of the absolute elite managers who you can trust to manage and coach a defence. I guess you watched us under Mourinho aswell, if you did then it´s evident what´s wrong imo.
However Ole´s decision making is definetely suspect at best, loaning out Smalling, playing Lingard and so on.

After every loss it´s 100% sack, after every win, Ole´s alright, such a hyperbolic mindset on redcafe.

Ole trying = jose not trying

Weve made no progress on the pitch under ole. Go ahead give him till the end of the season as long as it means we get poch

This is why we need a new manager. You cannot replace 11 players. You can replace one manager especially one who is incompetent and has no track record. I would not say Poch is the man as he has not won anything but I know he got Spurs to the CL Final and got them playing good attacking football. Ole has not done anything close to it. Winning the league in Norway does not count much there days anyway.

I’m at a loss, I really don’t know what would be for the best.
obviously it would be great to unearth a gem and start Winning in style but it’s not that easy.
I don’t think Poch is the man either, he wouldn’t last a year here imo before people who were clamouring over him to come here are frothing at the mouth.

The board and ed are definitely a massive issue. But that doesn't absolve ole of blame. If he isnt the right man, he needs to be sacked.

When the game starts, its 100% oles responsibility (along with the players of course). Getting consistently beat by relegation fodder is on ole. Not the board. Seeing no progress on the pitch or in the points we win is on ole. He is the wrong man for the job. We've sacked 3 managers since fergie. That doesn't mean we stick with someone so clearly wrong for the job
