Given the ridiculous gulf in quality between the two sides, it's about what you'd expect.

You'd have liked us to be game-raisers though like we usually are against the better teams.

- Brandon Williams was our best player tonight. Actually showed some tactical acumen and wasn't one dimensional going forward.
- Fred was good and energetic against a very good City press. He's inconsistent in the final third, but we'd be a shambles without him
- Matic was actually very good with the ball. Probably the only midfielder we have who can slot balls in between lines to move play forward.

- James eventually has to be dropped for Greenwood. If this is a meritocracy then it's only fair that Mason has warranted a role in the front three. I like James as a character and I think he's a good tactical fit, but he's not been productive in a while and I think we ought to send the right messages to the players that places must be earned.

- Same as above for Lingard, regarding earning his place. Just not cutting it, I'm afraid. Being a good tactical fit in terms of profile is one thing, but you have to be productive in some form, statistically. Either score, assist or make key passes.

- Rashford took the goal well but his general play is just unforgivable. There's always teammates in a better position and he never sees it. His head is always down, or he's dribbling into a dead end, or worse, he's already thinking about shooting at 40 yards. He's fine as a scorer of goals when he gets the chances, but he needs to be a better player, period.

I'm neither Ole in or Ole out, but you have to give a fair appraisal when it's necessary. It's okay to not win titles, and it's okay to expect a period of transition and development over time, but it's never okay to not have a discernible pattern of tactical identity this long into a managerial reign. We need to see something tactical where we can clearly identify that something is being worked on in training.

I've ended up averaging 4.9 compared to the caf's 3.9, getting a bit generous after a not awful second half

Let's be honest we embarrassed ourselves in 35 woeful first half minutes. The manner of the capitulation in a derby semi final points to huge issues the club has on the pitch, in the dugout and in the boardroom, which we've gone over until we're all blue in the face. In the match itself we seemed to tire ourselves out in the first ten minutes and were left shellshocked and bereft while City pummelled us. Better in the second once they'd put the cue on the rack, but just not good enough at all.

City didn't even get out of second gear after going up 3-0 and we still looked a tier below.

We ever we trying to play, its clueless, backed with clueless coaching. Dont care much about result, not worth of me losing my nerves.

Clearly match going customers dont care either, not a single mass peep vs Woodward and he should be pelted whole game but guess he aint Pogba, a guy who regardless of him playing or not, same bunch having a go left right center, funny that.

They toned down in 2nd half and we made some changes which looked better, some will try to spin it, why not i guess.

Was expected, it's sad that teams around us have sacked their managers for seeing standards dropped as bad as ours and yet many deluded united fans, Ole's media pals and the board think he should continue on as our manager

We can’t cross
We can’t counter
We can’t pass very well
We don’t create

I really have no idea what style we play. I wonder how much worse it can get before it starts to get better.

Won the 2nd half, Rashford got his 17th of the season and good experience for Greenwood and Williams
Only because City gave up and
Don't be a dick.

I'm firmly of the belief that Ole shouldn't be managing this club but City have a way better squad than us and a great manager, it really wasn't that bad a result, all things considered.
Wasn’t a bad result...don’t be a spanner. The game was over in the 1st half and city didn’t turn up 2nd half. If you pick a player who hasn’t don’t feck all in years then you are to blame simple!

City have a lot of issues in their squad, namely in defence. One of the main reasons why they are so far from Liverpool this season.

They started their backup keeper, 2 DM's as CB and Ottamendi as their 3rd CB, who won't get a sniff if Laporte was available.

No striker on the pitch today for them as well. Wolves beat them twice this season, hell even we beat them at the Etihad, did the squad at the time made that difference?
Oh come on, I'm not getting into this. City were amazing in the first half and ripped our far worse team apart. Like i said I'm as much for getting rid of Ole as anyone but we got beat 3-1 by an amazing team, big deal.

There are plenty of other examples of why Ole is the wrong manager for us, you don't need to try use that result.

Much better in the second half but the damage was done. How Perierra lasted on the field for 90 minutes is a real head scratcher. I know many will pick on Jones, but Perierra was the donkey of the match today. Absolutely clueless. Doesn't know how to mark a man when we don't have the ball, doesn't know where to run when we do have the ball, and makes the wrong choice almost every time he has the ball at his feet.

As for Jones, he's just not good enough. THat's not his fault. I wish every player had the heart that he does. He will try as hard as he can to get us over the line and put his body on the line for the cause, but he's well past his best and it's time for him to move on.

Williams is not a LB. I would like to see him play on the right. A LB's first instinct shouldn't be to dribble inside and that's exactly what he does everytime he gets the ball. He wants to get onto his right foot. There is a reason why left footers play LB. It might have worked in Irwin's day, but not anymore.

The only positives that I will take from this game is that we only lost by 2 goals. Also, Fred is quickly becoming one of our best players and a leader on the pitch. Matic also looked decent today when he came on, but again, he takes too many touches...

When I saw Lingard in the starting line up, I knew it’d be a disaster.
Take him off and we improve dramatically, even if it wasn’t good end at the end of the day.
This has happened time and time again, but Ole can’t see it.
The lad is a total liability.
His mum is a mess so he must play now until the end of time

The only positive from that game is that we only had to put up with Lingard for 45 minutes.Any chance of some transfer business Olly??I fecking doubt it.What a bloody state we're in.

If Ed is still thinking that we should be in a rebuild or something he's either mad or an agent sent to destroy us. Either way this is disastrous on about 100 levels.
We're crippling ourselves on purpose while our main rivals are getting better and better..

I have no words.

Jesse fukin Lingard should never ever play for United again. Never.

Great assist from Greenwood for Rashford’s goal.
Mostly though, the lad was out of his depth against older, far more experienced and physically much stronger opponents.
He’s a joy to watch at times, but he’s not ready to be a regular starter.
We need an experienced striker urgently, even as a temporary measure if we can’t get any of the best.
Fergie resorted to bringing in temporary reinforcements when he had to.

Not only City would've rip us apart with such an open team in the first half. Jones starting as CB with Pereira, Fred and Lingard of all people in his current form starting ahead of him, what did you expect?

The saddest part is they literally took the foot of the gas. I feel if they needed to win by 5 they would of. We have loads of problems from top to bottom but Ole is seriously turning into a big one

Bull-fecking-shit. City were spraying passes about and it almost got to walking pace for them. They had at least 3 decent chances to completely embarrass us. Good management to get a grip on the game... give your head a wobble ffs.
Head Wobbled. Oh...look! we scored 1 with no reply in the second half. Christ some people are negative. There's not a chance a United team under our previous managers would play football like we did in the second half against City.

Good Rashford goal b it everything else was uninspired to say the least. Jones needs not play again yet Ole seems to still have faith...
It speaks volumes that Jones is your best alternative to an injured Maguire.

The state of our squad is shocking.

They did us easily and at a canter. Took their foot of the pedal second half.
If it wasn't after the xmas period would have been at least five in it.
Ole was clueless to Peps set up.
Relying on a Counter attack and long balls
Only changed it cos ligard pulls a sicky.
Progress my ass

Not much to say really is there?

Schooled by a much, much better team with much, MUCH better coaching staff.

We are a shambles, top to bottom. Really sad to see.

Has he resigned yet?

Out of his depth Ole, schooled by Guardiola, what a surprise. He's lucky he took pity on him at half-time, or else the scoreline would have been a cricket score.

Starting Pereira, Fred & Lingard is evidence of how clueless he is. Say no more.

Ole needs to own up for that first half big time. It was the worst I've seen all season, they murdered us.

If Jones wasn't earning more in a year then what I do in 10 years I would feel sorry for him. He's so out of his depth, it's sad really.
You must be doing exceptionally well then, with your more than respectable income of 600K GBP per annum :) I bet quite a few other users need several years to make the same)
