I really hope there is a hell for the war mongers. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Blair, Clinton and the rest of the disgusting bastards that should be written in the history books as on par with the evil fecks from the world wars.

Poor people of Iraq and Syria will undoubtedly take the brunt as if they haven’t been through enough.

“De-escalation”

“To prevent war from happening”

Can’t believe I’m agreeing with Rand Paul, but he was right last night when he said you’d have to be brain dead to believe that.

If launched from inside Iran, war is coming

Bombing certainly. Can't see a full scale ground invasion - would be a much tougher nut to crack than Iraq was. Iran is much better armed and equipped, and also surrounded by mountains which would make the logistics of a ground invasion very difficult.

I expect the US will launch an air campaign. If they do, it'll be one of the biggest challenges American pilots have faced in decades - for the first time they'll be coming up against a fairly large air force and ground defences, albeit with somewhat more obsolete tech.

In Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya there wasn't much in the way of an air-to-air campaign. With Iran, there will be - might even see the old F-14s in action. Not that I want this to happen of course.

Stay safe. This is truly horrible and the last 15 years will be nothing compared to what will be next. Absolutely gut wrenching

If there are dead US troops from this its hard to imagine Trump's response being anything but disproportionate. The only saving grace here is the American's will have excellent defence systems in place which should reduce the impact and lead to a more tempered response. If not, then, well the pieces are set for at the very least a major regional war.

Hopefully we stay the hell away from it.

This.

If by we, you mean Britain. I agree.

I'm not on Iran's 'side' or anything. It's just going to be an inevitably ugly confrontation and I'm sick to death of these costly, often pointless middle eastern campaigns.

There wouldn't be a need for a ground invasion imo. All the damage would be done from remote platforms.

Russia and China aren’t putting themselves on the line for Iran. They’re on their own if this goes hot.
Why even play that game though. The "we can risk this because Russia and China wouldn't want this to escalate onto them" card is not at all something the US should be thinking about here. If one of those 2 gets involved then all of a sudden there's a global conflict. That's just horrible. I can't believe that this was so carelessy escalated. Incredible, how the illusion of world peace that there was for a moment is being put at risk. Insane even.

Iran has gone all in, which to be fair it was to be expected. It is a brutal dictatorship, and if they appear to be weak, they will lose the power. By they, I mean the Supreme Leader and his crooks. A bombing of Iran will actually unite the country and ensure that they stay in power for many years to come.

I hope that there are no victims, otherwise Trump will go all in too. In any case, I think that it will be very ugly.

People who didn’t vote Hillary cause she is a hawk are idiots! I don’t ever get tired of calling them idiots.

Trump and Pompeo are war criminals.
