I wish him all the best. He's had some good times with the club and I've never had cause to question his commitment.

Now we know why it took so long! Well done Ed and team for hustling to get the £1.5m! You’ve earned those AirPod Pro’s!

So we have a super thin squad while being in 4 competitions. Lots of injuries too and we manage to sell a player before we buy anyone.
Shocking management here really.
So basically we have no cover for Wan Bissaka now so he must play every game and get injured now. Or should we test Jones/Lindelöf in that role again?

I wanted him to leave but now that he actually leaves I can't help feel betrayed. So I'm about to lash out.
I'm joking obviously. He'll have a good time in Italy since he is still Young and quick. I always liked him. Proper United-squad player, from the scapegoating from fans to the bottomless effort he always put in.

Dalot is back. He was on the bench yesterday.

Great news. I wish him well over there. Not the best player but has been a good servant and model professional. Good leadership too even if the thought of him as captain never quite sounded right, but I guess that's more a reflection of where we're at (he'll be succeeded by a player in his first season!).

Conflicted on this

On one hand he's only a squad player now so who cares but on the other he brings some shithousery that no one else in the squad has now and is a very good option to bring on when wanting to win free kicks, break up play and see a game out
If I'm being honest I feel that when we should have sold him we didn't and now when we need numbers we've sold him

Club captain and he leaves mid season doesn't speak volumes does it?

He was finished as top level footballer for a few seasons and if Ferguson was still manager he would be sold years ago
Club captain by seniority rather than leadership

Good lord, Ashley Young finally leaves and some want him to stay. He's always tried his hardest but he should have been gone in 2014.

I have wanted Young out for years now, so I'm not gonna change my tune all of a sudden just because we've got an injury crisis. Dalot, Fosu Mensah, Rojo, Tuanzebe, Shaw could be back at some point and they can contribute a couple games to rest AWB and Williams before going out injured again. They should all be replaced in the summer if they can't stay healthy.

I like Young. But this must mean players incoming. Yes. Players.
Really...are you forgetting how horribly mismanaged our club is? We sold Lukaku with no replacement in the summer which hindered our whole season from day 1

Genuinely wish him the best. Was one of the few leaders over last few years. Emergence of Brandon Williams means he wouldn't have got much game time. Saves £110k per week in wage bill.

The fact matic, mata etc who are fringe players are on such large wages we need them off our books.

If you are Brandon Williams and playing so well it would be demoralising to see young on 110k and Luke shaw on 195k a week and that causes things to go pear shaped.

Hopefully a step in the right direction.
Honestly Shaw should be next. We really need to shed those wages...I'm fine with DDG Martial and Rashford getting high wages, but the rest of the squad needs a slow and consistent deep clean till the wages either match the value of where we are or even undervalue our squad.

Surprised that we've allowed him to go this window, but we have Shaw, Wan-Bissaka, Dalot and Williams, who has really stepped up. Actually, the brilliance of Williams probably made the decision for Ole a lot easier.

From Young's perspective, at his age, it's a really good move for him. A chance to play in a different country and for a team in Inter, who look like they're going places.

He's been a good servant for United. He's never been a world class player, but he's done what he's had to do without moaning.

Wish him the best of luck!

Yeah we are a mess. Is our rebuild to sell everyone and let our academy do the job? We at least got a good academy though.

I'd bet good money half the people that wanted him gone are now the people saying the squads thin. While the squad is thin this is great news. He's been awful for years. Average player. I'd rather struggle with yougsters than watch his shit throw ins.

Barely worth raising the effort to comment on him, so I won't, but people assuming this opens the door to 'players' coming in now going to be disappointed, the only winner is here is our balance sheet, and Ashley Young, who might actually win something this season now.

I wish him all the best. He's got a lot of stick from United fans over the years but he's been nothing but a top professional regularly out of position and still being the favoured full back for several managers.

Well, he was good against City, I'm not sure we win that game with Shaw or Williams in there. I'd rather get rid of Shaw.

But that being said, he's well past it and he should move where he can get more games. He's been a good servant to the club, best of luck except against United!

Ashley wanted to leave. United would hardly sell otherwise with all the injuries.

Maybe, but I would be seriously worried if AWB or Brandon Williams got injured if they are our options.
We have decent options that are not worse/much worse than Young. TFM can play right back, Rojo can play left-back. Laird can play on both flanks and is a great prospect. Reece Devine is a decent left-back too. I'm not worried.

I do find it hilarious how a player described as a loyal servant by many jumped ship at the first opportunity. Our club captain as well
I can imagine the furore if certain other players had attempted to force through a move in January
He's been here 9 years in fairness, I think that qualifies as loyal. How do you know this is the first opportunity.

He doesnt play much, is 34 and has one last chance to play in a foreign league, good luck to him and thanks for being a good professional. I never felt he gave less than he was capable of.
