The other stupid thing about Sporting wanting him to play vs benfica is that Bruno won’t play anywhere close to full throttle and will avoid any tackle or challenge to avoid injury.

His head will be somewhere totally elsewhere so it makes zero sense from anyone’s POV to play that game. And that’s even before one accounts for the financial risk, if he gets injured.
Knowing BF i seriously doubt that, he's the type of player that will give 100% every game and every minute.

If it really is his last game, which i doubt, he will give all he has on the field regardless of consequences.

So no new news regarding him? Have the Portuguese papers did a blinder again and convinced us he's joining like when he was signing for us in the summer?

I do hope he signs and hopefully he won't be injured tonight against Benfica either
Yes.

The sources for this rumour have all come from Portuguese 'leaks' that have provably lied on numerous occasions during this supposed saga (both now and during the summer). The 'BBC' and 'Guardian' reports have regurgitated the same shitty Twitter/tabloid articles.

What's telling is that there are no sources linked to Manchester United sources, despite United having a track record of leaking news like this. Also, the Sporting manager has refused to rest Bruno, and at no point has he mentioned ongoing negotiations.

It benefits journalists to make up shit. And United are an easy target because we never confirm/deny, whilst our internet fans are easily whipped into a frenzy...

The Portugese media or who else is pumping up this particular transfer is out of their mind. So many things floating around it's bonkers. If only Sporting would put a quarter of that effort into actual negotiations this would have been done last summer.

Didn't Athletic reference their own sources when they said we were negotiating? Add to that the fact that Ole went himself to watch Bruno play, it seems something must be genuine.

This is like deducting my mortgage repayments from my salary to make it look like I'm being paid less. Weird.
If you want to find out your disposable income, you have to do exactly that, nothing weird about it.

It is genuine, BBC(Simon Stone), telegraph (Ducker), Guardian, Times (Hirst) all reported as their own stories. Last summer only Portuguese papers reported it with English media saying there is no interest from United side. This time it is reported by both sides.

Exactly, there is no doubting the interest here. I think we will get it over the line, I think all this grandstanding is for the benefit of Sporting but we will get the signing over the line.

Hopefully we get it done asap. He won't play vs Liverpool anyways but should be ready for Burnley game. OT debut vs Burnley is a good enough.

Yeah, I can see Sporting trying to drag this out until after their game tonight. Hope there is no injury!!
Like you say even if he signed today he would never start on Sunday, may make the bench though.

The calculation isn't to work out disposal income though is it? If we are to work on that premise though isn't every other outgoing listed? Why are they specifically listing a bank repayment and deducting it from the fee they receive? It makes absolutely no sense as it is in no way connected to the fee they receive. It should be included in the Sporting cut.

The bank repayment is the only weird thing there though. The rest make perfect sense: agent fees, solidarity payment, a certain percentage to Sampdoria - these are parts of the transfer fee that they literally can't keep. Further incentive to squeeze as much cash out of us as possible.

The bank repayment is, admittedly, something they have to do either way so probably should not be listed here.

I'm assuming that Sporting are asking for something we don't quite want to give at the moment. They're in the position to do it though, knowing we need to sign him before the end of Jan.

We have to wait till the 29th for his debut?Do not want.
Exactly, he should be rollerskating on to the stage tomorrow and then score a double hat-trick at Anfield on Sunday to inspire a glorious 10-0 win.

If we end up paying 60M people will end up saying we overpaid and say Woodward is terrible at doing business..
So, pay 100m on Maddison? Nowdays 50m-60m for attacking mid is normal, doubt people even moan about it unless he becomes flop.

That’s what I specifically referencing. The rest is absolutely fine to show because it applies to the fee being received.

Sporting fans in here mentioned that they are in a position to sell since they need money. They are probably trying to outsmart Ed.

Its sad that such a massive club end up in this mess. What happened actually? I can see manutd follow suit in a decade at this rate.. Its really likely.
It's a shame the situation of the club is so bad at the moment. Feel for you as a fan - whilst we moan a lot here at least we are so rich we can keep throwing money at the problem to somehow stay relevant.

How did it get so bad for Sporting and do you see it changing any time in the medium term?
Bad management throughout the years means we've clearly fallen behind both Porto and Benfica financially. The gap between the top leagues and the portuguese league getting bigger means we've fallen way behind other clubs internationally that back in the day we'd have been able to compete for in the transfer market.

Nowadays we have a divided fanbase and we're still suffering the consequences of the Ultras attacks on the players from 2 years ago. We've changed presidents since and every game there are as many chants from the stands telling the president to feck off than there are chants supporting the team.

We've not reached a point where we can't go back to seriously competing for the title every year, just need a few years of good work by the club. I look at us as I looked as Liverpool a few years ago, we're closing in on 20 years without winning the league now but get the right players and the right manager in and we should be back to where we belong. Selling Bruno means the beginning of a new era for the club, how good that is will depend a lot on how we spend the money we get and if we can compete for the title next season. If we have a repeat of this season then things will get even more toxic than they already are.

Anterior cruciate ligament tear for sure.
Lets hope to god not obviously but it wouldn't shock me if he gets injured.

I don't even think we'd be in for him this window had Pogba not had another setback and Mctominnay got injured. The club have been forced into the market really.

God people let him have one last hurrah for Sporting. We can't be going through life worrying about every possible injury scenario.

He is as likely to tear a muscle in the derby match as he is in his first training session with us. Life's like this.

Why? Do you think he will stay or come later in the window?
Every news I read indicates we are far off in terms of valuations. This has a chance of not happening. Especially with the transfer commity if United, everything is possible. In a negative way of course.

Its Maguire all over again - once the transfer deadline approaches - we will Cave and give Sporting what they want. It will happen.

Woodward understands that if this one doesn't get done - he will get all the heat, not OGS.
