I don't think we played well. You can make an argument that Fred and Matic played well. You can even make an argument that we fought well, but the performance on the ball was not very good at all. No quality in that last third, and let's be honest, this isn't an isolated example. Rashford aside, our main issue is the last third! Never the right ball at the right time with the right weight. If it's the right pass, it's the wrong weight. if it's the right weight, it's the wrong time. Just the decision making is poor at the moment.

Results were good to us yesterday, lessening the blow, could have snatched a draw.

Main point is again our set piece defending which is genuinely disgraceful. Unacceptable
We've now conceded more goals from set pieces than any other team this season.

Great performance from the lads. We had some injuries as well. 2-0 loss to Liverpool is great progress. Kept them pretty much at bay. Bit of luck and we could have drawn this game. Don't really see any need to strenghten or get a manager in for this club. We are heading into the right direction.
Seriously? There is no sign of progress losing a game 2-0.

Not much to say. Liverpool fully deserved to win. Cred to United to come back after being outplayed up to 60 minutes.

It's no shame losing to a far better team. Wondering why Williams and Fred had to mark Virgil at corner kicks. Also, De Gea was trademark rubbish in the air again. We were lucky that goal was disallowed. And what on earth was Lindeløf doing after De Gea was fouled? Get rid of the ball ffs!

Fred mom.

A sad demonstration of where we are as a club. Just not on the same level as the top teams in Europe. Effort was there but we lack quality.

Positives:

Fred - the one player in our midfield who I can see surviving a true rebuild. Second to none in effort and also has quality. Will make the odd mistake but I can forgive him that when looking at the rest of his game.

Williams - a very bright prospect for the future. Imagine he will be first choice LB within 18 months.

Maguire & Lindelof - looked solid considering the burden on them.
The only burden is Lindelof.

Thought we were good second half. Can’t expect much more with a team this depleted.

We have a long way to go but as long as we keep moving forward as quickly as possible and this nonsense with injuries sorts itself out then it could be a different story.

why did ole stop de gea going forward? why can't james commit a foul salah like valverde did last week? this team just lacks quality
It's not a cup final. It would be incredibly stupid. If James fouled Salah and got red carded, having less players available wouldn't do us any favours.

Honestly this is just champion material, grinding out results even when they not at their best. We could have and should have drawn this game. And Liverpool, could have drawn many like this 1-0 wins they've had this season. That is the difference for them this season.
While it hurts like hell, at least we didn't bend over and let them run all over us. Gulf is there, but we did our best with the players available to us.

I’ve given Ole stick but if ever there was a game to show the problem is simply the quality of the squad. We need to upgrade several positions and window after window we keep failing to do so. We are being held back by incompetency in recruitment.

The performance and fight was there towards the end the quality just wasn’t. Doesn’t help with the injuries mind.

This Liverpool team are so well drilled.

If anyone expected better they must be seriously deluded.
That was a solid effort today without our two best players against a team who have won 20/21!

We all know we need a lot of work but today isn't the day for too much upset
They were annihilating us and sent wan bissaka go to the shops for fizzy pop numerous times mate.

Completely outplayed and made to look like hopeless mugs for periods of the game, but we came back and gave a really good account of ourselves in the end.
I thought we might have scrambled an equaliser at the death.
A lack of proper, goal poaching strikers proved to be our undoing again, when there’s so few opportunities going.

Let’s just move on now and build on this fight back.

Ole and a lot of United fans will be thrilled by that result.

Because we showed fight, or character or some other shite you say to counsel losers.
Would you and the rest of the 'ole and some fans will be thrilled with that result' brigade just do one. No one is thrilled with that result from United.

We gave it a better go than every other side that went there this season, city included. Rashford and pogba were the bit of quality we needed.

Fred MOTM again. Matic very good too. Even though he slowed down, he's still class in protecting the ball under pressure with his physicality, his passing is good too.

Along with our clown CBs Pereira, James and Williams were nowhere to be seen and couldn't get into the game. I'm sorry but James has nothing other than his pace. Awful passing, awful finishing, awful delivery into the box and physically weak as a schoolboy. It's hard to believe he's nearly of the same age with Adama Traore and plays the same position on the pitch. Pereira also not good enough. Normally these are the players who can't be a part of Manchester United squad but even with the standards dropped, they (James, Pereira, Lingard etc.) should be squad players at best.

Ole Glazer Solskjaer thrilled with that no doubt. Glorious defeat. Fair play to Woodward and Ole the loser mentality has set in deep not just within the squad but even throughout a large majority of the fanbase. Sad to see.
Just keep your eyes on this thread, you will see how far we have fallen by the reaction of a good proportion of our fans.
Come of it with that crap.

Good game. We competed well, given the vast gulf in class of personnel and management, which was well demonstrated here. Creditable performance. Fred had a cracker. Maybe his best game ever for us. The 'Pool have become an all conquering machine. Will be deserving champions, nauseating as that is to say. This result changes nothing for us in terms of where we are and what we need to do. On to the next... Gotta beat Burnley Wednesday, and well too!

No Pogba, Rashford, Mctominay, and our highest paid player loaned out. Credit to Ole for not melting down, and the lads for keeping it a one goal game till the end.

Disagree, I don't feel he was bad today. Don't get me wrong I'm yet to be convinced that he would be someone to get us back to the top but nowhere near the top of the list of problems needing solving.

As if that message wasn't bad enough, they show us a picture of poor Philip Jonas attempting to remove a large building from his anus.

It's just not on.
 The dead muppet killed me!
Any hopefully optimist like me would have felt exactly like that when that 2nd goal went in. Till the dying second I thought we could nick that equalizer!

Not sure what game people were watching when they say 2-0 was a fair result, on the balance of the game we deserve a draw at least. That’s the most individual errors I’ve seen liverpool make all season and it came as a result of our pressing and set up. No one could have complained a scoreline or 1-1 wasn’t fair.

What we lack in ability we have in hart. Players playing for the shirt! Very high intensity game, and the boys run them self to the ground.

Pereira was so poor. If we dont sign any players soon i dont know what else to do. We have no optioins.

How people can sit and moan through this game is insane. Although Liverpool could be 5 goals up after ten minutes of second half, we where in this to the last minute. No doubt it will be mayhem on here, so have fun :)

We were shite. Only Fred and Matic (and partly Shaw) showed some class. They should have been out of sight long before.

All thigs considered, proud of our guys. They fought hard and looked threatening. It was always going to be hard without Rashford at Anfield. Its just reality.

Fred MOTM by a mile. What a game he played.
Wan Bissaka on the other hand is looking more and more like a fraudulent player. He just doesnt know how to play, good defender but thats not enough nowadays. Perhaps Williams should be our RB moving forward? We should be in the market for a full back perhaps.

Anyway, entertaining game. We did about as well as we could. I am not mad.

Pogba and Rashford and I think we beat those today. When I consider our injuries, don’t think we’re a million miles away from that lot on what I’ve seen over two games. We have just had too much of the quality taken out of the team. We need a few more real quality additions, and unless he really kicks up a fuss, we must refuse to allow Pogba to leave this summer.
Genuinely I think we're million miles behind them. From how the club is run to the team.

Decent enough but definitely 2nd best, not much else to say.

I'd like us to sign a forward and a MF, kind of tomorrow.
