The club is almost certain to continue this steady decline under this ownership and board. Manchester United are doing a Liverpool, our worst fear.

The major changes required are very straight forward, But are not changed our ownership is interested in making.

Sack Ole, remove Ed from CEO position, sell Pogba.
Appoint Poch, appoint VDS, get a Director of Football/Recruitment like Campos or Mitchell.

Bit disappointed that ther ware still people trying to downplay how utterly awful we are for a club of our size and stature.

If the Glazer's were to leave tomorrow and a great owner takes over, pumps money into the side, employs the best manager and DOF available, it would still take 5 years before we would be regular title challengers. But that's a pipe dream. We're fecked for the foreseeable.

Jose left us a team that finished 2nd in the league and won 10 games in a row when Ole took over.
At great cost. It's as if he left Inter in that state without winning ANY trophies. They are only starting to recover now with Conte and heavy Chinese investment.

Yes. I think there’s a bit of hysteria, we’re not a million miles away I don’t think.

I feel our club is just rancid from top to bottom. Bloated squad devoid of any real quality. A manager who is championship level. Inept board and backroom staff. Not sure how we turn it around.
It's so unlike the cafe to have negative threads after a loss.

Bloated squad? Ole getting rid of 8 players and only bringing in 3 isn't enough for you then?

If there's any time to get a reasonable, well thought out answer to this question, it's few minutes after a loss against our biggest rivals that are on their way to the tittle.

Said rival that's essentially proof that you can get out of deep shit.

I know im really past out after winning the treble, when I awake it will be 1999, Fergie is still manager and the good times are still rolling, but ill have one hell of a hangover!

Now, note to self.

When Saudis take over the football world will be worried. Until then we will remain a laughing stock.

I would have taken this thread seriously if it was posted on a regular day, but since it's posted after a defeat to Liverpool it's just a reactionary thread.

Yes, but we need to actually start to make proper calls in the market and get a top manager in.
We can't find any bargains and overspend on everything. If you do that you will fall behind the best who spend things on top talents.
Our academy is good though which is a plus.

Not under this ownership or this manager, no. We will remain 6-10th in the league until one or both are removed. If new owners come in, the first thing they will do is send Ole packing with a thank you and a handshake, before targeting an actual top manager.

Liverpool are nowhere as good as people make them out to be. Catching them is very achievable.
The likes of AWB kept the African player of the year fairly quite. Salah only really looked like scoring at the very last minute(which he did), apart from that Williams kept him in place. Firminio was more threatening than any of the front three.
If this is the best they can offer, then I'm quite confident we will catch the and surpass them. It all depends on how much we spend and on the quality we bring in.
We had Matic FFS.

Amongst footballing managerial 'Gods'
Look at leceister, they have been mid table for awhile after winning the league and what did they do to turn things around?

They hired the right manager with a good Philosophy. It is really that simple. United fans and board make it look like rocket science but if we hire the right manager, we will get back on top of Europe.

Pochettino is the answer and that will solve almost everything that is wrong at United. Proper Recruitment And structure will follow with the right man coaching our players to play proper football.

Bloated with crap.
Two of our best players are out injured. The squad is wafer thin on numbers right now, we clearly need more bodies pushing for first team positions. No disrespect to James who I think has done well since coming to us, but there is no way he should be first team material right now. We need reinforcing at this point, whether the Glazers will do that is anyone guess at this point. We're about 3/4 players short of where we need to be imo.

I’m gonna say there’s no way back with these owners, they have no ambition and knowledge of football. These cnuts know feck all and Ole doesn’t either.

It’s such a mess that it would be easier to press delete and start a fresh!

Can only assume you don’t know what that means.
Bet there were people accusing fans of being knee jerkers when we were on the verge of being relegated. Not that I think we are that bad, but can see years of being on the outside looking in.

This season is alright to you?
I don't think it's been horrendous. Was always going to be a tough season but there's a core of quality young players emerging and we've got rid of a lot of players that had to go. The squad is light and lacking quality in some areas, but for the first time I feel we have a platform to rectify those. If we make the right signings, and it's a big if, then I can see a bit of a resurgence happening next season.

I mean we’ve only been crap for getting on 7 years now....
Disagree, I think there's a lot of positives to be taken from this season. We've got some major injuries which has fecked us over and if we can actually sign someone that can improve us in the next two weeks the future looks bright.

See Liverpool. Unfortunately, it may also take us 30 years.
Doubt it. We have more money and football is more professional now.

I think the owners will eventually blunder into appointing a good manager/DOF.

Jose left us in a real mess, it'll take time to recover.
A mess that gave Ole his job with the great honeymoon period that lasted 3 months. Absolute nonsense anyway, as the club has been a hot mess since Moyes appointment.

Imagine every club thinking they're rancid after losing to the prevailing European champions and incumbent league winners away by two goals.

I don't think so. People say we have a good squad that can improve etc but we're missing many key ingredients that we've neglected for many years now that I don't see us fixing.

A top quality LW like Salah
A top quality RW (Rashfords form this season helps)
Squad depth
A manager who can build a team like Klopp has and play a style (7 years of flip flopping between managers of different styles)
A DOF/footballing board to build a squad

We do have good players in some positions, but you need a complete squad the way SAF built them. I can see us continuing the trend of buying good players, but also buying and selling not ideal ones, and continuing the merry go around of the last 7 years for the next decade. You really need someone top quality like SAF or Klopp to really build a title winning team.

Sorry to say it but this isn't really a knee jerk. Knee jerk is when we best Norwich 4-0 and people suddenly think we're a force again.

Really, if anybody thinks this is acceptable (mainly aimed at the board here) then we have no true ambition to be title challengers ever again.

So no, we don't presently have a way back with the present management as we aren't a very well run club.

Sucks and you could have said this so many times over the past five years.

Not A Woodward fan obviously, but his managerial appointments so far are a recommendation of SAF, two proven world class managers, and a guy who went on a run of form that made it almost impossible not to give him the job.

We've spent shit under Ole so far. Good luck to anyone who thinks we can fix our problems by making the right signings.

We’ve been in darker stages than this. Club has loads of young players doing well. They need to get someone new in charge of player recruitment we’ve known this for years. On the field, fecked by injuries against the best Liverpool team in years and we could have stolen a draw.
Martial should have scored.

They're 30 points ahead of us in January and you are quite confident that if we nail a couple of signings that we will catch and surpass them anytime soon? Not one player on our side would get in to theirs (Pogba would when fit but he'll likely be gone in the summer) and our manager is many, many rungs below Liverpool's (below most managers in the league in fact). We're a mess, run by people who partially don't have a clue and partially don't give a shit. If we get taken over by the Saudi's I'm honestly done with United but without a change of ownership and culture we are going nowhere fast.

The way we've been going downhill ever since SAF retired and making such bad decisions, it almost feels like Fergie's deal with the devil came to an end and now it's time to pay.
