This basically means he knows about as much about football as anyone else on this Forum.

Hence what a mess we're in :(
He's also a chartered accountant so he knows as much about football as you do. Basically, you're Ed Woodward is what I'm saying.

Whether its Bruno or not, it's a f*cking joke we look like we won't sign anyone this window.

I'm beginning to think this isn't going to happen. Surely it'd of happened by now.
Apparently the deals collapsed and we’ve pull out of it!

Have to pull plug, manager is gone at the end of season so money will be saved for successor.

Sporting just announced the signing of Sporar, their new striker. He was the guy the press said would be Fernandes replacement.

Hope not but wouldn't surprise me that he said to himself I should probably look at other options in the summer after last night and all that's been said about the state of the club.

According to The Sun and The Independent we’ve made a breakthrough. Few minutes ago

An hour ago The Sun said it had collapsed

The Sun (I know) are reporting that the Bruno deal has collapsed after an intervention from Joel Glazer - he does not believe that the player is worth what Sporting are asking. The piece is by Neil Custis.

A significant moment, if true, as it would appear to be the start of the Glazers taking an active hand in transfer dealings. Last minute bargaining position or genuine collapse? We'll have to wait and see.

It’s their money after all. Fact is SP won’t get 67m for him in summer

Would be nice to hear from Joel Glazer who he rates then and who he is willing to buy. What an absolute mess the club is in

Hmmm. Is it possible I thought a possible top 4 charge might be ignited with Bruno and Rashford banging in goals, only for us to have neither of them for the rest of the season? United are so disappointing.

Don’t worry we just need to sack Ole and we’ll win the treble under Poch by the end of next season. I hear Pochettino is a big fan of Joel Glazer and will have no problem being dictated football transfer strategy by him.

Starting to smell serious incompetence to concluding a deal by our boy Ed here.

Haha what a joke. Things just keep going from bad to worse. Can't wait to see if he believes Sancho, Maddison etc are worth X amount. Let's stick to shopping in home bargains so they can get their dividends whilst we continue to be a shit show on the pitch.

God knows what’s true and what’s not in this whole thing. But as much as we need signings, we need to stop this cycle of being taken to the cleaners on every transfer. That’s the hole we’ve dug for ourselves over the last few years, so if they’re messing us about we should quite rightly tell them where to go.

The saddest thing is we put all our eggs in one basket once again. We’re incapable of looking at more than one option at a time to give us some actual bargaining power.

I wish he stepped in when we were about to break the wage structure for Alexis.

He's supposed to be a big fan of Martial, isn't he. He reportedly blocked Mourinho's attempt to move the player on in Summer 2019, because he saw him as a Pele-like figure at Old Trafford.

He wouldn't let Jose sell Martial so it already started before, along with Rojo to Everton was blocked by him.

I think our valuation of Bruno Fernandes is far closer to his true value. When Mendes is trying to flog someone, suddenly every player and manager from Portugal is coming out in the media saying the player for sale is the new Pele. More often than not his clients flop.
Gelston Martins, Joao Mario, William Carvalho, Bebe, Anderson etc were all hyped by The Portuguese media as being the new Cristiano. Mendes is a smart man but also very crafty. You know there'll be healthy servings of BS in the media when he's involved and more often than not, the players he sells go for double what their true value is.

Exactly. People are overreacting because we are a mess and haven't signed anyone. Bruno , if signed for what SP is asking, will add to the list of average players stealing a living and blame Ed for not scouting properly.

Rather sign some midfielders or forwards .

There is no moral high ground for us to take with this deal, it is us that have left the squad like this, and so badly need a player of this quality at a bad time to buy. We are once again in a position of weakness, so I don't know what else we expect, and it will be exactly the same story in the summer.

Seems strange that Sporting would sign Šporar if their financial troubles are as bad as reported, without knowing that they are due to get a chunk of money. Not surprising that they want to hold out for as much as possible though, considering they will only actually get about half of the fee.

I assume this means he didn't score well on the marketing algorithm against amortised costs rather than Joel's assessment of Bruno's footballing abilities
