He's doing fine. We're exactly where most people would put us in the league. So he's neither over achieving or under achieving.

We're rebuilding. Some good football being played by us at times, we need to kick on though now. We're screwed with injuries. Ole needs these core players back AND at least 2 more good transfer windows in my opinion.
Do you actually believe any of the nonsense you spew?

I’m sick of you.

We haven’t played an ounce of good football all season and he’s the worst manager we have ever had. But he’s doing fine. Yes probably by his own personal standards.
That’s an emotional comment based off the back of a poor game against Burnley. Much like everything littered over the media. Which was horrendous no doubt, but a matter of weeks ago, we tore city apart away from home, in what was probably the best post fergie display of football we’ve had. So don’t tell me Ole isn’t capable of getting a tune out of this squad.

What really gets me is you look at the teams around us, Chelsea have been very poor recently. Spurs nearly dropped points the other night at home to Norwich! Yet Lampard and Jose aren’t getting strung up in the media. I see comments like “it’s an embarrassment, worst team in 30 years, etc” all over the news...Ok so for the past 7 years, we’ve been exactly where we are right now, between 4th-7th, excluding one season when we finished 2nd, miles behind city. Add to that, pogba has played, what 5-6 games, martial was out for months, mctominay has been out for ages, now rashford out for ages. All massively key players, in a paper thin team.

the bottom line is we’ve been poor in recruitment. Reports on sky, Fernandes deal was almost done and we suddenly decide to knock 10 mil off what we agreed cause they are strapped for cash, to try and get him on the cheap. Great move Ed! Lukaku saying Jose never got the players he wanted...report after report of interest in players with nothing ever coming to fruition. That all falls firmly with Woodward and Matt Judge.

No it wasn’t we played counter attacking football it was a poor Second half and we never kept passion for longer than 15 seconds once. Fans were happy with the win that’s it. The fact you believe that’s our best performance since Fergie probably just means you’ve bumped your head.

I wasn’t emotionally either it was personal.. never is with my replies.

I can't see that he's in any position to apply any pressure behind the scenes. He's managing one of the biggest clubs in the world, despite the fact that no other Premier League team would have him. The fans are losing faith and he's seemingly only still in place because the board have decided it suits them, for now at least. Seems to me he has no leverage whatsoever.
He has about as much leverage as any other manager would, which ultimately is not very much.

The result was fantastic but in absolutely no way did we “tear apart” City for crying out loud.

Example of lowered standards, yet again. Not knocking the result, but just winning a game nowadays entails 'ripping someone apart' or a 'great performance', even if it was smash and grab.

Remind me again of what happened in the rematch a few weeks later when Pep adapted to what we did in the first match and Ole had no clue how to adjust the entire match. That's the definition of "tore apart"

We can agree that player recruitment has been poor, but a reminder that Ole said it was his choice to spend the budget on the players he did, and be rid of the players he wanted to be rid of with no replacements, the squad is on him. And a vastly better manager would be getting a better tune out of it.

Editing my own posts.
The idea that anything quasi “Ole - Out” related is more “emotionally” based than the idea of putting our blind faith in an ex-player with no qualified managerial experience, who would’ve never gotten close to the job otherwise and has won less games than Burnley this season, to rebuild us over several seasons with no money in a manner no major club has done in several decades is frankly through the looking glass- level bonkers...

We seem to be at the “flagrant projection” point of the cycle...but cool beans guys... carry on...

As usual, Mockey and Pogue have a quick pop in and both talk complete sense. There is an Ole cult and it's absolutely stark raving bonkers.

Wow. I 100% agree with him. Having watched these same players for years, they are not going to suddenly become world beaters. If being realistic, we are exactly where we should. But increasingly posts like this, against people who view it in a positive and different manner is making me sick of this forum to be fair.

Well at least you agreed he will do better than Ole. And that's in any circumstance

Anyways that's not answering my question. Your idea is that any manager will fail under Woodward which is hypothetical because we haven't tried every manager. And now I'm asking you hypothetically again, if Klopp came in during Mourinho's time and was given the same net spend as Mourinho had in three years do you think he would have failed? It's a hypothetical question that's meant to give me more insight so whether Klopp has rejected us doesn't matter in this argument
It's not a hypothetical question, because we offered Klopp the job and he turned it down, because HE didn't think he would have succeeded here. We tried it, and it did fail, before it even got started. I don't know how you're not getting this. It cannot be a hypothetical question if it has already actually happened.

I agreed a manager would do better than Ole if they had better players than Ole has and were allowed to spend the money you are suggesting they would be allowed to spend. do you know who else would definitely do better under these circumstances? Ole would. It's impossible to argue he wouldn't. What kind of question is this?

What hypothetical question do you want answering next? Would a box weigh more if you put some weights in it?

Again you are completely defeating your own argument. Trying to say that changing the manager would be a solution regardless of the circumstances or how the club/Woodward chooses to back them, but then tacking on "if they were allowed to spend £280m on improving the squad"...So you don't think the squad is good enough or that Ole has been given sufficient chance or funds to improve it? Or you do in which case why does a new manager need £280m just to not fail?

As I said before, pick which argument you are actually making because one is clearly contradicting the other.

Now, if you want to ask me (hypothetically) if Klopp would do better with THIS current squad of players IN THE SAME circumstances as Ole has had to manage them, then yes I think hew would do better, but I also think he is the best current manager in the world...and the best manager in the world wouldn't waste their time on taking a job where the best possible outcome is failing less than someone else would.

To be fair though, A lot of that falls on Ole aswell for being a pathetic yes man.
Most, if not all, employees are pathetic yes men to their bosses though

look how it ended for Mourinho

Ole is not the type to rock the boat and give the press something to write about, it just adds more pressure in the end (especially for United who the press have a field day with over anything.)

No one told him to sell Lukaku in the dying minutes of the market.
He went AWOL and wanted out, nobody was desperate to keep him and as I’ve said probably one thousand times - there is no way Ole sells the biggest goalscorer without being assured by Ed there would be a replacement.

I can’t take anybody posting here that thinks Ole was truly happy with only securing 3 players and not replacing Lukaku (no matter what Ole says when he’s towing the line to the press.)
He’s just not an egomaniac like Mourinho

Second largest wage bill in the league, massive investment done since Fergie left as a champion (think we’re easily top3 in spending in that period) and you’re telling me casually losing to bottom 6 sides and smiles after each embarrassment are completely fine, because opposition fans assumed we’d again finish out of top4 this season? Well they did so because they know our manager has absolutely no success to his name (and even if I consider Klopp an underachiever, the fact Ole tries to compare himself to the German is just sad), little to no idea how United should play and complete lack of ability in terms of motivating players. That’s far from fine for me

Do people think the likes of James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana etc are world beaters? Or is it possible Klopps coaching has taken them to a far higher level than they were capable of under previous managers. Will our players become world beaters? No, will they become far better players under a better coach that can coach them above their level? Yup.

And we failed to sign a replacement through out the window, why didn't he cancel the deal and keep him ? The player was under contract and he would have played.

But the reality was Ole wasn't really that worried about him going even after we failed to sign a replacement through the summer he still let him go, because he viewed him as a bench option at best anyway. We were never in the market for any top striker. We just wanted another bench option and when we didn't get him it wasn't a big deal and we let Lukaku go anyway even when he knew he wouldn't have more options for the season.

Anyway why shouldn't I believe Ole when he says he's fully backed and he has the final say and believes some posters on internet that thinks otherwise ? If he's lying then he's a yes man covering for Woodward and the Glazers, and that actually deserves far more criticism than what we're doing currently.

What does the second largest wage bill and investments have to do with Ole? That is a demonstration of other peoples poor performance above him.

I wish, I can't help myself even when there is no debate. Like when a poster earlier tried arguing that Ole hasn't made us miles worse despite every single statistic showing that yes, it's not debatable. I'm a complete Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime though, can't help myself when dealing with that level of delusion.

This season has made me think I chose the wrong career, I start thinking that maybe psychology was the way together, and then I realise I'd just end up throwing heavy objects from my desk at the deluded ones who can't be helped.

Very black and white opinion there fella.

Would having Lukaku have made any difference? Last I checked he scored a paltry amount and less than Rashford.
Other than having the donkey to Chuck in now we have injuries, he needed to go, we were moving away from big lump strikers and rightly so.

Again, You choose to believe what you want but not even a teenager on football manager chooses to sell his no 1 striker and is happy to not replace him.

I’m certain he was told a replacement would be secured.
That’s far more likely along with Ole towing the company line than your version where Ole is just a bumbling idiot that voluntarily wanted to put pressure on himself in one of the hardest jobs in world football right now.

There are moving parts and every transfer is different, once Lukaku had agreed the terms to a move we could have been half way through signing a replacement and it fell through, ultimately the board could have made the decision to cut their losses on Lukaku whilst we had a buyer offering decent money for him.

Aye that's the crux of it. Ole was only really interested in Mandzukic from all accounts to be on the bench and mentor, because he was otherwise happy with his options and had already made clear Lukaku was not in his plans. Dembele was mentioned but not anyone's priority.

No shit, Ole came in, made it clear he was second or third choice, said it pretty to the World and then Lukaku actually helped him get the job full time.

Lukaku was poorly managed by Ole, no wonder he was doing everything to secure an exit to a top manager who actually like him.
Hah if you want to choose to remember it that way.

Seemed clear that we were heading in a different direction.

Regardless of how he left I’m confident Ole would have been assured of a replacement.

He left right near the end of the window, we had no replacement lined up and only Mandzukic was every really considered. Ole was convinced Martial, Rashford, Greenwood, Lingard and Andreas would be enough.

But now we're just gonna ignore all that and re-write history to excuse the shit transfer window Ole had an how he left himself with a threadbare squad?

Having Lukaku for one more season till we get a replacement next summer next summer is of course far better than having absolutely no one.

And anyway this is a contradictory point. You're blaming Woodward for not securing replacement for Lukaku after selling him then saying Lukaku wouldn't have made any difference anyway had he stayed. How is that ? Why did we need a replacement for Lukaku then if he's that useless and his presence doesn't make much difference ? Try to organize your points a little bit I suggest.

And Ole might be that naive. How do you know ? Have you set down with him and talked together about his opinions re the squad ? Maybe, yeah maybe he thought we'll be totally fine with Greenwood coming up from the academy to take Lukaku's spot. Did we target any top strikers in summer ? No we didn't. Only one was Mandzukic, a 34 years old who wouldn't have been anything more than a bench option, and the link didn't last 1 week and we didn't try to sign anyone else. Everything points to the fact Ole viewed Lukaku as a mere bench option and wasn't concerned about letting him go even if we didn't get a replacement, because at no point in summer did we show any urgency in any striker negotiation.

Just listen to the guy today saying Klopp got 4 years so he needs time. He's not believing he's under risk. He's totally delusional and believing that this is a job for multiple upcoming years and he's in no hurry to win at present, so saying he's wanting to put pressure on himself looks pointless to me. He doesn't look like he's under any pressure to lose his job whatever the current results. He believes he'll get 2 or 3 more years and it's a long life project.

At the end I have Ole's quotes to believe and he says he has a final say in every transfer and if he's lying then it's another story that's actually doesn't give him any sort of credit or excuse.

He wouldn't be a very good leader if he acted like the majority of the man utd fans. Negative and childish imo. The amount of whining is incredible.

Yeah weird why are people whining and moaning. The team is doing great, football is fun and results have been good this season. Wonder why they're moaning. Ole's at the wheel.

Hard to argue against a statement like that. I hope you have a nice weekend.
