Well, that is BS. He has been by far our best player for many years now.
Has in this case means in the past. I agree that he has been Norways most dangerous player. But now he is a second-to-third choice striker that will likely be shifted out to the wing to accomodate Håland. If Norway had any half-decent wingers he would be on the bench.

This just looks like another "jobs for the boys" buy from Solskjaer, sorry but that's the truth. He did this quite a bit at Cardiff as well and came under scrutiny for it

We're basically Liverpool when they spunking large sums on Downing, Carroll and Lallana.

Amazing that our vast scouting network kind find a player of Kings quality anywhere for a fraction of the cost.

If this happens it means we won't be buying another striker until at least the summer window next year. He'd improve us slightly short term, but we should do better.
We won't be buying a striker of any real quality until then anyway. Considering we need to outlay big money for a right winger and a midfielder first.

Again, Sørloth has 15 in 18 in Turkey and now that Håland is here on top of that. Should King play as the national teams focal point?
No, he shouldn't. Haaland is the obvious focal point. But he should start every match as a part of an offensive duo with Haaland, or maybe as a wide forward/workhorse.

He isn't all that good, all that much of a goalscorer or all that cheap. I suspect "understanding the club" is a factor in why he's a target, which is hardly the most pressing criteria.

Just goes to highlight the consequences of poor transfer business in the summer. It's not just that you don't get the quality player you need then, you're also pressured into buying a lesser player later on who will then make further strengthening more awkward.

I don't understand this one. I quite like him as a player, but he's not the quality we need long term and therefore is too expensive for a short term option.
Yeah, odd (unless it's a sheer short-term loan).

All yous lot crying he’s not a big enough name or he ain’t sufficient quality pointing at his 1 in 3 record or whatever.

If this was 98 and news was breaking we was signing Yorke you’d be the type of pricks to be crying for Batistuta.

United always has favoured domestic talent, whether homegrown or foreign. And I think it works.

As much as our Norwegian centre forward signing turning out to be King instead of Haaland would have been a monumental disappointment in December, I'd still much prefer a motivated, hungry Josh King who wants to succeed in his last peak years at the club he aspired to play, as opposed to Lukaku who never showed that drive in his second year.

If they've turned down £27m then we'll end up paying in excess of £30m for a squad player. Liverpool signed Origi for £10m and Shaqiri for £13m in comparison.

Someone who knows the league. Look at some of the signings recently from outside the league. They don't always work out.

It’s hardly a surprise when a manager looks at a player he knows well from previous experience. In fact, it makes sense as there’s less risk involved.

I bet Haland was expected to be here this January until Matt Judge fecked it up. Then they thought, ok, we will chance it and wait till the summer before we get another.... until Rashford's double fracture.

Like James, wan bissaka, maguire and fernandes? His 4 signings who he has absolutely no history with?

Re King, I think he's a good player, 27m isn't alot in today's market and a good age to add to our current lot at a time when some goals without rashford could make or break 4th.

Its amazing the narrative some people here have --their agenda against Ole clouds any decision the club makes.

Would much prefer we hijacked Bowen from Hull City to be a squad player

If we are willing to pay £27M for someone like Josh King then why on Earth don’t we pay that for someone like Edouard from Celtic, if that’s the sort of money we are willing to pay for a backup striker this late in the window? Could easily get him for that fee.

Does he improve the team though? He's not a proper number 9 either so we just have Martial/Rashford/King all who are better playing off left.
No, King is better in the middle, and this is also where he wants to play.

Yeah. But that is because we have terrible wingers. I'd say we are in agreement but that I was a bit short on explaining my initial statement.

Yeah right.. and the rest fella. I doubt Celtic would sell for less than 35-40m

In two minds about it. Would be very handy till the summer with our thin squad but after that, what's his place in the squad gonna be? That's why I thought we were looking at a loan.

No way Bournemouth would loan out one of their star players ,more so when they're in a relegation fight. Come on now.

I actually think he'd be as close to ideal as possible. Knows the manager, knows some of the players, knows the club, won't come in with a big ego and wan't out if he's not first choice. He's done well at Bournemouth as well.
