Which striker should we sign this summer?

I would try to sign Aubameyang from Arsenal. That's the type of singing we used to make and need to go back to being this way
31 in the Summer, this would be another Sanchez like move and no, we should not go back to being that way.

Van Persie was a great signing but he came into a settled, competitive team not comparable to our current situation.

Ighalo. As per Fabrizio Romano we will negotiate option to buy later as we didn't have time. He will play well in few games and we will rush to make the deal permanent.
I could see this given the state of us.

I'd like to see us go after Luka Jovic from Real Madrid. He hasn't settled in well and knowing their impatient board they may want to cash in. I think he'd do well in the PL.

Dembele and Werner are also shouts. Chelsea seen interested though, and with London and probable CL football, they will probably be more attractive than us right now.

Can't see Jose wanting Martial, or Martial wanting Jose for that matter.
Very true, maybe sell Martial to PSG when Neymar or Mbappe move to Spain and then throw the blank cheque at Kane.
We already know with Mourinho he can make random decisions on players.

Icardi. Not convinced he will go PSG after his loan spell and pretty much established player with a good scoring rate and young enough for a good few years.

unless Inter have misgivings after the dross you have palmed off on them.
Why not? Cavani is obviously out and Icardi has fitted in quite seamlessly.

Isak from sociedad, if he continues his progression this spring! Strikers from Sweden have not let us down so far.;)
And i guess he wont be that expensive.

Timo Werner 100%...

I don't think he would come to us - certainly not without CL football...but we should go all out for him regardless.

People still talk as if we are still that Manchester Utd.

CL football will play a big part on who we can get, we should rob our rivals, get Raul Jiminez.

One that can score goals and create chances for himself without getting a lot of service.

Wonder if there are any strikers that aren’t high up the wanted list that could be a diamond in the rough. Werner and Martinez from inter are unrealistic. MAYBE might be able to get Werner if no big club is after him, Martinez looks wanted from Barca. I’m not gonna pretend I know any striker and just start naming names like most on here. Someone who be pure quality, proper impact striker. Jimenez, jovic are probably just flavour of the month players. We can only get a player that’s not ready made world class.

I’d be surprised if we spent £50m+ on Jimenez given his age. If we’re going to spend that much on a striker I imagine we’d try for the likes of Gomez, Dembele, and Werner (although all the noise points to him heading to Liverpool).

Think we will sign Jimenez for about 40m . Happy to sit on bench, would be likely to join us and Wolves would sell for the right amount.

Dembele, Gomez, is going to cost 60+ .
Werner wont come without CL.

Didn’t they sign him for £35m? I can’t see them accepting an offer less than £50-60m. They don’t really have a back up striker either So they’d have to delve into the market to get a replacement. I’d love him here though.

I think your valuation for Dembele and Gomez is right, I think £50-60m would get you one of them.

I think it depends if OGS views Martial as his no 1 striker or not, that will determine the type of striker we're going to be in for. Plus my guess is that they're going to go big for Sancho (whether they get him or not is the big question); so cost will also be a factor. I think Martial needs competition, so we should be in for a striker who can play as the main striker or even dovetail with Martial as a front two up top. In terms of realistic signings and cost, we should be really looking at Moussa Dembele or Odsonne Edouard. They can both play as target men and also off the last defender's shoulder. Another option that wouldn't break the bank is Donyell Malen of PSV, young, quick and scoring tons of goals in the dutch league; he'd be back-up option to Martial as he's not quite ready to be no 1 at Utd yet.

Would Moussa Dembele be the right fit for us? Many seem to not rate him which worries me.
I'm really not sure how he's so high up on lists, he's got an erratic touch and I don't think he differs massively from what we have.

I prefer a Salah type RW player over a striker. Martial starting as CF a lot better for the team than James/Lingard/Pereira/Dalot/Mata starting as a 'rightsided winger'.

I'm quite concerned if he's our main target tbh.
The fact we moved on to Haaland hopefully means he was simply the best option at the time were initially interested in him. I honestly can't see Ole lasting beyond this season and if Poch comes in it could help us get a striker like Lautaro Martínez or Timo Werner.

This for me too, we need a Rashford on the right - who do you prefer?

Werner, if not him, Dembele / Richarlison / Maxi Gomes. Calvert-Lwein is a good shout too but don't think he can work with Rashford. Adolfo Gaich, we were briefly linked with on deadline day, there is something about that guy which says he will be a huge success in future. we should take a gamble on him.

Raul Jimenez if there is a slight chance. I really like Werner, but he is very similar to Martial and Rashford. Furthermore, it would be great to have someone who has played in the PL. Instant impact, safe etc.

Ousmane Dembele, if he can regain his fitness and form, can form a devastating wide forward partnership with Rashford.
Yeah to be honest since the Fati kid has arrived I think there's a good chance that Dembele gets blocked off a bit more than he wants to be aswell. Dembele seems to be the favourite of most people I've talked to for that left footed RW Position except a right footer like Sancho.

Also whilst this is highly unrealistic and purely just a dream - il never say never since players like Figo left Barcelona to Madrid - me and other people were talking about how awesome a left footed attacker liked Sane would be as well. Obviously will not happen though but I guess some of us can wish.

I think the moral of the story for me is that the RW is still not sorted & I kind of really want that left footed right winger to bombard the box with pace at the same time with Rashford - as you said creating a wide forwards partnership of sorts.

Werner, if we can sign him, would be fantastic. Else we should go for someone like Jimenez

I would sign Cavani for one year and then 2021 go for Haland with his release clause.

Simplistic answer but I just want a striker regardless of reputation or what he does at another club but someone who can do the business in a Utd shirt.

If we don't get that right side and midfield sorted, I'm not sure it will be all that effective.

We don't create nearly enough (granted the right kind of player could help that but it's feck all good if we don't have the players to find him). I assume Bruno can help there. If Bruno is playing that 10 role, and Pogba is going then we need a CM. If Pogba is off and Bruno is his replacement...we still need a 10...we have to get goals from the right and James is a young kid with alot to learn...and for me should be back up for left and right.

The fact we don't have goals throughout the team is a big problem surely? If Rashford and Martial don't score...where is a goal coming from? Hopefully Bruno as well now but we still need more than that over course of a season. Fred is zero goal threat, McTominay may get you 5 odd a season.

There is so much still to do...Striker, Right sided attacker, midfielder, left back and...I'm sorry to say, a Centre back of real quality. I like Maguire, and would like to see a top notch CB beside him (though accept this would be considered lower priority than the rest and for another thread).

This team lacks a spine for me, and lacks leaders. Until that changes...

I don't watch nearly enough football these days outside United to suggest anything other than the obvious. It's interesting me more to see what type of striker we want rather than specific names...and whether people want a different option to Martial or someone to replace him...is there a Ruud Van Nistelrooy regen :)

Out of everyone mentioned this is the most realistic. A player who I can see playing under Solskjaer.

Let's hope you can see him playing under a different manager then, because otherwise he'll just join the bunch of inconsistent midtable-form players Ole has accrued so far. Get Ole out.

If Wolves don't qualify for the CL.....then Jiminez is one we want.
