No Mason? That's a shame. He must have picked up a knock in training or maybe he's ill.

    Who is Connor Stanley,?
U18 midfielder, has barely played there even. I just guess they like to give some opportunity to youngsters sometime and they are probably chosen from a list. To give everyone a taste. I remember Charlie Wellens training not long ago.

Do not play Martial on the left because he already doesn't get in the box and one game will completely ruin what we keep saying to him if he's played wide again, also i don't think he hugs the touchline as successfully as Rashy does.

Ahead of Gomes and Chong? They injured or just leaving and we are moving on?

I saw Brugge vs Madrid in the Champions League and they played well (drew 2-2 at the Bernabeu). I know the Belgian league isn't strong but I think they're 9 points clear of Genk. It will be tougher than some here think and we're not exactly a great side.

If we fully-rotate then I expect we'll lose.

    Romero
    Lindelof--Maguire--Shaw
    Dalot--Pereira--Fred--Williams
    Mata
    Greenwood--Martial

Subs: De Gea; Bailly, AWB; Matic, Bruno; Lingard, Ighlao

It wouldn't be wise to start Bailly so soon after his lengthy injury. Dalot will give us a better attacking threat and it enables us to rest AWB ahead of Watford. I want Matic to start vs Watford so I'd rest him too - 3 games in seven days is too much. I'm wrapping Bruno in cotton wool so Mata can start this one, although I wouldn't be surprised if Ole wants him to start vs Watford for more creativity. James is out of form and seems low on confidence, so he drops out here for Greenwood. The hardest decision is Ighalo or Martial?
Some good ideas. I agree Brugge aren't a bad side so we can't afford to throw a load of kids in. I'm tempted to give Bruno 45-60 minutes and it's a shame we don't have the personnel to rest both Matic and Fred, as you say it will probably only be the former who gets a break before Watford. I don't know if Ighalo is ready but from the outside I'd like him to start this one.

    Dalot Fernandes Matic Shaw
    Mata
    Ighalo Martial
Defend with the 3 centre backs, Matic & the 2 wing backs, attack with the 2 wing backs, Mata & the 2 strikers. Bruno box to box. Decent balance there.

Give a rest to Maguire, AWB and Fred. They badly need it. Let Romero play all the EL campaign. Matic can captain.

This is such a perfect match for Bruno to really make his mark. He's had a fantastic campaign for Sporting in the EL this season, might as well continue the tradition

    Clement/Mignolet press conference just now:

    - Diatta is certainly not playing
    - They're relishing that they can be the underdog for a change
    - Won't be playing to keep a clean sheet but will play from a tight, organized defense
    - Know United are favourites but believe they won't be underestimated
    - Wanna get a decent result at home to play the Old Trafford game like a cup final

I think Ole should stick with the back 3 and get it fine tuned as it suits Maguire and looked very promising vs Chelsea. I'd like to see Dalot given a game, and if Greenwood isn't fit I guess it'll be James as the other forward.

We don't need to play with 5 defenders. Go with a strong team and put the tie away, we're coming off a two week rest period so everyone should be ready to go. A lot easier to rotate at OT once the pressure is off.

    Romero
    AWB-Maguire-Lindelof-Shaw
    Matic-Fred
    Bruno
    Greenwood-Ighalo-Martial

I'd give Dave a break, his shoulder is still probably a bit sore, and since we've got the best backup keeper in the world, let's use him.

Mata was an unused sub, and I'd deploy him with Bruno, giving James a much needed rest. We are light in defensive midfielders. I know Pereira is not one, but I'm struggling to think who else is fit who can conceivably do a job there. McTominay and Garner are still out, I think, and Matic can't take two games in three days, so he's a sub or a scratch. McTominay for Pereira if he's ready.

We win, 1 goal to nil.

    ---------------------- Romero----------------------
AWB---- Bailly ----- Maguire ------ Shaw
    ---------------Fred---------Pereira---------------
    Mata----------------Bruno------------Martial

I must be the only person that hadn’t realised rules had changed and players are no longer cup tied if they had already played in group stages of europa or champions league.

Its a two leg knock out tie i don't expect to see as many changes to the starting 11 as was seen for the group stages.

Lindelof will probably come back into the side for perhaps Bailly. I could see Mata start and maybe a debut start for Ighalo. Need Bruno,Martial in top form and a solid defensive performance will be required to get a result in this real banana skin tomorrow night.

    Very much like this.
I would’ve said Greenwood instead of Martial.

why are we saying players need a break !!! they have played 1 game in 2 weeks ?
You still have to plan for them to play 7 games the next 21 days. They don´t need a break, they just need not to get tired.

Good lineup. Fred in particular needs to be kept fresh for the upcoming slog I feel.

After seeing the squad that travelled:
    Romero
    Lindelof--Maguire--Shaw
    Dalot--Pereira--Fred--Williams
    Mata
    Ighalo--Martial

Subs: De Gea; AWB, Bailly; Matic, Bruno; Lingard, James

So Pereira will start then, to rest Fernandes, I hope. McTominay will be available in the matches to come, so start with Fred and Matic - if their legs are fine. De Gea is travelling and looks to be in form, so why not play him. Romero can play against Derby.

    ....................... De Gea

    Bissaka ..... Lindeløf ..... Maguire .... Shaw

    .................Fred ....... Matic

    Mata ...........Pereira ...........Martial

    .......................Ighalo

Subs: Fernandes in for Fred, Dalot for Martial. If everything goes well, Lingard or James for Ighalo (if United are in the lead and can play on the counter).

    Then against Watford:

    ....................... De Gea

    Bissaka ..... Bailly ..... Maguire .... Williams

    .................Fred ....... McTominay

    Greenwood ....... Fernandes ........Martial

    .......................Ighalo

People suggesting Pereira as CM is insane. He can "do a job" at AM or RW, but the midfield has been overrun when he has played at CM (Sheff U, Villa, Wolves).

Ole said in the presser that Ighalo may start. Wonder if that means Martial gets rested? Overjoyed to hear McT is close to full recovery. May be on bench!

Europa will probably end up as our only option for CL next season so I don't think we will field weak team. Maybe 1 or 2 rested (I don't think it's needed) but majority of first choice players will play.

    Will go with

    Romero
    AWB
    Bailly
    Maguire
    Shaw
    Williams

    Matic
    Fred
    Bruno

    Ighalo
    Martial.

Lindelof in for Bailly and that will probably be the team, no need to push him, keep him fresh for Sunday
