Can you imagine Ighalo...not only is he coming to play at his boyhood club, out of the blue....he has Fernandes as the player who is going to find his runs.

Pretty blatant pen. Doesnt matter if he expected the contact, it still came and it's a pen without question.
Yes Im not saying it was badly called, just saying for me that shouldnt be a penalty but I know that kind of contact will be called every time.

Martial is better off coming from the left.. He is playing up top because Rashford is injured. Greenwood is probably too inexperienced to be up top..Can be isolating.

Ighalo up top with Martial on the left... but do we take James off or Greenwood? Unlike some here, I think James has done well.

Hope we see Ighalo for longer than Ole's typical last 5 minute subs

Some shocking passes to heavily marked players. To play it in tight situations like that, the pass has to be accurate, not make your teammates stretch for it.

    Do scousers run these streams?
Always drop out at important times when we are playing.

I saw the penalty awarded, then the celebration. It's uncanny and annoying.

I'm not the only one then. Happens with ridiculous regularity.

I'm glad we're winning and at this stage, three points is the most important, but I really do question how our players read the game, at times.

When out of possession, Watford are so narrow. The space is clearly out wide, yet we decide to play silly 5 yard passes in midfield, which makes it easy for Watford to press and win the ball back, which is what has happened a few times.

Second half, get James and Greenwood to stay wide. Get Shaw and AWB to create overloads down wide areas. We're too obsessed with playing down the middle and it clearly doesn't work.

.....but wasn't it his through ball to James.....agree that level of physicality isn't his game.
Yeah it was a good pass, doesn't change what I said though mate does it. He needs to be stronger, or people will copy this routine Deeney is doing on him, because he's being mostly dominated.

I used to look forward to HT under SAF cos you could trust that he would decimate them for a performance like that. Surely OGS will be doing the same after that first half.

We’re being bullied by a very physical team. Smacks of the Arsenal criticism about being unable to mix it when necessary. Maguire, Shaw, Fred and Bruno are the only ones that look remotely tenacious. The rest just ambling around.

It’s the only hope Watford have...bullying us into mistakes in midfield. Show them we’re equally as brave/capable of going in hard and they’ll collapse.

Ropey start, not helped by some erratic passing by Lindelof but I felt we grew into the half. Think we deserve to be ahead, but not been easy work. Nice moment to win and then score the penalty for Fernandes. Not sure about the people saying Fred and James have been poor in here as ive been impressed with both. Only properly poor moment from either was Fred's poor shot. Should have done better. Greenwood disappointingly quiet.

We've had 3 shots on goal and 5 outside the net. Players like Fred, AWB and Daniel James could all have scored if they had better individual quality in their shot selection. Martial's poor pass to Bruno likely cost us the 2-0.

We're dominating this. Watford has 1 shot on goal and 1 outside the net.

We're generating chances, we own the posession and for once we don't look lethargic against a bottom team. yeah that start wasn't great, but that's about it. The last two thirds of this half was a one way street.

I think there are many many fans who can be classed as without superstition who share the opinion that taking penalties with unorthodox runups increases the chances of mishits.

That method of taking a penalty is in my opinion up there with the worst for ensuring a clean contact each time. But it went in...so I'm apparently unable to pass comment.
That's his standard penalty technique. You don't have to act like its his first time doing it. Even Jorginho has a similar technique going back his Napoli days.

If we're basing it off today's game I'd take Greenwood off. James at least is doing stuff today, Greenwood is just... there.

Martial plays up top even when Rashford is fit. It's just his role when hes up top. Hes better playing with players who will run beyond him, but with no Rashford we dont have that player.

It's the keeper's fault for charging out to meet Bruno in the manner he did. It was always going to be a penalty.

Ighalo for 30mins, surely. If Ole leaves it until the 82nd or something....

I'd say McTominay too but i don't want to risk him.

What are you talking about mate, Martial has played up top all season even when Rashford was healthy.

Happy Fernandes scored but what a shit pen

If Foster dives right that's a very easy save
I think this is the logic behind his technique - when he jumps, the keeper needs to commit to one-side and begin his dive because if the keeper is still waiting, then by the time Bruno picks a corner, keeper won't be able to get to the corners on time.

The key is to be able to hit any corner though. Not down the middle.

Foster is wasting time every single time he gets the ball - I would say he ticked away 5 minutes of fccking about with the ball in his hands. F**k him I'm glad he gave the pen away.

    We have been shit. Again.
Martial adds nothing. James is bolloxed. Matic is Matic.
Stick Ighalo on and see what he can do. Our front line is poor.
    Maguire is doing strange things.

On a positive note Lingard isnt playing. THats progress

    Ighalo?

I do feel Martial is more effective coming in off the left flank though.

Greenwood needs to take those runs down the right. The service is there, but no Greenwood.

The game plan is good. Play behind their defence to force their back-line to fall down. When Watford press high, this causes spaces between their back-line and the midfield.

Some players have to step up. Their were on against Chelsea, and it is demanded from them that they do the same against Watford. I question the attitude of Matic, Martial, Shaw, Bissaka and Greenwood.
