This is the most absurd notion of all. Pogba is the first name on the France teamsheet. They'd pick him with a broken leg.

Also Pogba is an athlete he ain't someone like Rooney or Shaw who's fitness goes to complete crap after s few months off.

He recovers in terms of fitness very quickly. Sure every summer here he cancelled his holidays came back early etc etc.
Do you really believe that Pogba wants to sign a new contract. If either of Real or Juventus offered the right money in the summer, he's off. Don't be ridiculous saying, France would pick him with a broken leg. France would certainly NOT bring an injured player in their squad no matter who or what he is.

Can you read? Firstly my post had nothing to do with him staying.

Secondly, the they'd pick him with a broken leg was clearly tongue in cheek. But yeah he doesn't need to play for us to be picked. At most he would go train and show he can run, but yeah he is the first name on the France teamsheet so it's ridiculous to think us not playing him would cost him his place.

Pogba staying would be immense provided his heart's in it. All these discussions about "how would the team be set up with both Bruno and Pogba" - have you lot forgotten that United has been yearning for a decade to have exactly this kind of problem. It's a great problem to have.

I'm not buying the about face just yet though (especially with an article from the Mail as the only source)

Gotta wait and watch. Meanwhile, i'll be drooling to see a team lineup with McTom back, Pogba playing, and hopefully a Rashy return soon

Yes I can Read, and don't be so arrogant. If you think that someone that proves he can run would go with the French squad then I'm wasting my time even answering you.

We are not in a situation to sign Pogba in summer without knowing whether he can fit with Bruno or not. If I am Ole, I would play Pogba with Bruno for few matches and see if they can gel together and make a decision to extend or not(If Pogba is keen to stay with us). Isn't it ?

End of the day, like everyone else I would prefer a fully committed and a humble player but if he is motivated enough then we can easily reach next level. If anyone is not sure just think about first15 matches post Jose sacking. Top class quality but he needs a bit of clever handling. so its for us to take that risk OR go for an alternative like Grealish.

He is still 26, so what about extending his contract and sell him a year later if there is no change to his mentality?

Only thing I am afraid of keeping him is the massive pay gap between him and other midfield players(it could be a disruptive thing in the dressing room to be honest), Imagine more commited players like SMT, Grealish, Fred, Matic and ,Bruno around 100K a week but Pogba on a new contract worth 400K a week.

United should put their foot down here, the only way i would even consider letting him stay at this point is if he gets rid of Riaola. Simple as.

Im not buying it though that all of a sudden he's changed his mind after all the talk, and united's fortunes seemingly turning around. This is just to put him in the shop window, show France he's fit. And ive no problem with that. If it helps moves the circus on, im all for it. get him on, rack up as much points in this last run in.

If that really is the reason, he can leave any time. I have no respect for a player who decides to stay just because the team is suddenly doing better without them.

although one side of me says to wash our hands of him and get rid for whatever we can get, your summary makes sense. Use his own enthusiasm for France to raise his game which might help us in the run in and also put him in the window for a better fee than we might otherwise get.

I agree with you. If it helps us and we can rack up the points to get a Champions League place then that's fine ( he owes us that at least ) , but after all the talk, I certainly don't believe that things will change and he will move on in the summer.

Can you imagine our back 5 with the following

Bruno - Matic - Pogba
Sancho - Martial - Rashford

I really hope we get CL.
That is an excellent team (hoping Pogba cut his off field stuff and Martial establish himself as a 30 goal number-9)

Talent is there for sure, When Rashford was carrying this team few months back we all though this team needed 5 or 6 top players but just with an addition of a player like Bruno now that number came down to 2/3 more good signings. Imagine what someone like Sancho can bring to this team? we will be great again.

If I am you, I would add an experienced striker like Abumayang or Cavani as a backup striker to this team but that is just my opinion.
[/QUOTE]

I get your reasoning but I love what Ighalo is offering and with the back ups of Greenwood, James, Chong, Ighalo, I'd be more than happy. Don't want a bloated squad. You wouldn't have the caliber of Cavani or Aubameyang as back up.

Our midfield reinforcements would be Fred, McTominay, Mata, Bellingham?, Garner, Gomes

Defensive reinforcements - Williams, Tuanzabe, Bailly/Lindelof, Dalot, Laird, Jones

That is a very, very good squad. A very young squad too.

We really shouldn't need such a defensive lineup against most of the teams we'll face for the rest of the season.

Good one, at least we cant complain about the quality of players there.

I am with this or 4-4-2 with a diamond.

Griezmann and Mpabbe disagree.

he isnt the talisman for France that people seem to think he is

Its absurd to think in this day and age a player gets picked without any match sharpness.

Where do people think Pogba and Bruno fit in the first team together? I can see only three probabilities.

1) Pogba gets played as deep CDM/Carrick type position that he has openly struggled with in the past and doesn't seem to enjoy = he starts moaning again.

2) They both play in advanced roles with ONE tackler/workhorse trying to cover both of them = our midfield gets ripped to shreds again.

3) They fight for the same position - its amazing to have depth in attack/creative midfield positions like City, I guess.

As far as I'm concerned, Bruno is Pogba's replacement. I cannot see him here next season, it makes no sense to me.
It was clearly the plan from pre season. Pogba next to McTominay in midfield and a hard working, defensively responsible ten in Bruno ahead of them.

The club couldn't get Bruno done so they had to stick with Pereira and Lingard for 6 months.

The only issue now is how well Fred has performed in the Pogba role and whether Pogba can earn the spot back.

I like the look of this. This team would wear down most teams in the PL on the basis of player quality.

We have also seen that this formation when played (for example v City) provides a very strong foundation where we rarely concede goals or even chances.

Giroud get picked by Deschamps despite him hardly ever seeing the pitch at club level and some people think he'd pass the chance to pick a fit Pogba

When Pogba comes back and if he's around with us, there won't even be all these headache formations people are trying to come up with. I know right now people are exited with all of Matic, Fred and McSauce but eventually it'll be one of those 3 with Pogba and Bruno, it's as simple as that. I don't see us playing 4 midfielders, we'll stick to 3, that I'm sure of.
It should be one of Fred/Scott/Matic holding with Pogba and Bruno. It's not that complicated.

It basically how we started the season with Pogba in a 2 with a number 10 ahead but this turn instead of Lingard or Perreira in that role we have Bruno.

France have many good players......

But Griezmann and Mbappe are gonna find it a lot harder when Pogba isn't playing them perfect passes. Who's gonna do it? Kante?

They go hand in Hand. Pogba wouldn't do as well without Mbappe and Griezmann and they wouldn't do as well without him.

Crazy to think forwards need a midfielder who can pass and midfielders need forwards who are good.

Pogba was the start of so many of their world cup goals. He had a ridiculous tournament both offensively and defensively.

He would need to be fit sure but I gurantee you he would be in the squad even if he doesn't play for us again.

We are not talking about one of France's fringe players here.

The entire point of what Ole is trying to do with our squad right now is fill it with players that are motivated by playing for Manchester United. I like Pogba a lot and don’t buy in to much of the negativity the media portrays him in but he still just doesn’t seem like much of a fighter/leader. He’s obviously much more talented than all but a few in world football but if he isn’t going to give his all, all of the time, I don’t really see the point.

All of this noise when all of a sudden we are starting to look like a decent side again is just annoying, honestly. Bring in someone less talented who sees United as the pinnacle, not just another payday. We need players who want to fight to get us back to the top, not who only are interested once we’re there.

Is it actually confirmed yet that he’s back in training? Any pics?
He is back training at Carrington, that is confirmed. He did not train with the team today at the open training session. May or may not have trained with the team yesterday.

That is all we know. So at the veery least he is training but still on his personal training that players often get assigned to for various reasons.

In this case(In Pogba extending his contract case), while some of us will be enjoying Pogba do awesome things in games, your typical bitter and petty overly sensitive fanboys who eat every single bit of media bullshit and obvious agenda against Pogba will be seething with anger inside, not being able to stomach Pogba shine for us.

Can't wait for the begrudged back handed compliments they'll be forcing themselves to throw around.
Haha. It's funny that you would call someone a fanboy in a post like that.

You can't have too many good players on the team. We had a luxury of talented players to choose from in Fergie's days. I don't mind having both Pogba and Bruno in the team, in that sense.

But in terms of attitude and desire to actually play for the club, Pogba falls way short of expectations. Cashing in and getting talented players who actually wants to be at the club is tempting.

What I see in Pogba (and its not anything bad) is he is not a natural leader. He likes to be in limelight but can't bear the burden of entire team's success or failure revolving around him. He can be an important part but don't put an expectation of being THE part as if life and death depend on him.

Some people thrive under the burden of expectation, they love it. But some are not cut out for it. Pogba is latter.

I am pretty sure he will love football at united now that entire burden is shifted or at least shared by Bruno. He can be wonderful under a natural leader. Lets give a try.

This is only football, you're talking as if it's a matter of life and death or as if Pogba did an act of national treason level. You're taking it way too seriously, you can want him to be sold and that's fair but I don't think there is a need to go as far as you did  Some of you are taking this football thing way too seriously
How is this being taken seriously. He has a right to leave, we also have a right to want to see him leave. I feel we are big enough as a club to not tolerate that behaviour and that Pogba does not provide enough to be granted that leeway. How is that life or death? I want him gone the same way everyone wants lingard gone, doesn't mean I hate the dude as a person.

Let's be clear. If most of us were sure about Pogba wanting to be here, everyone would be onside and would accept him back. The problem is that his agent and brother have been pushing a negative narrative towards his relationship with the club for two years. To act like, only the media was involved in this is a complete misrepresentation of the facts. I hold both Pogba and Mourinho responsible for the shambles and media circus around the club last season. The fact that this has continued even with the departure of Mourinho is the primary reason as to why I do not like and trust Pogba at the moment. This is Man Utd, if a player feels he is too good for us or can't respect the club enough to prevent this circus by squashing rumours then they do not deserve to be members of the team, no matter how good they are. The problem is, Pogba hasn't been indispensible. I don't feel his tenure here has been completely horrible, but it certainly doesn't demand the attention that Pogba is getting. I saw Juventus get relegated and keep players even though they had fallen from grace due to their own deceit. There is no ill will towards him and he can move on, but for a club trying to get back to the top, we need committed performers, I do not trust that he is a guy for this period.

Sure, racism and unconscious bias is widespread, but it is never your own fault or those who share your opinions. It’s only other people who might be suspect to these things.

Racism isn’t just about frothing at the mouth or calling someone the n-word, but is about having a slight prejudice against someone for how they look or what they represent without being conscious of that.

I wish I could be as certain as many of you guys of being completely immune to any such bias in any of my thinking or judging of others.
Oh piss off.

I see this too in a sense. He was most comfortable here when Zlatan was leading. At Juve and France, there are a lot of players with more responsibility. It's a bit too late for him in my opinion, but that may be a valid theory.

We are countering less the 9.2%, and have only countered once so it's ok. We are about building attack fast though.
