Think you might have got your decimal point in the wrong place there! Multiply those chances by 100
You may be right there but its still quite a small chance.

Its sh*t and there's no hiding from it. I just spoke with a mate who sits on the board of a local health authority and he has told me the data he is seeing is very scary and he couldn't tell me exactly what he is looking at. The board he sits on has cancelled all meetings and they are stretched already.

If this goes on for longer than 3 months then I'm prepared to wear a fecking space suit to go to a football match.

In the BBC news feed about serum from the recovered being used as a potential treatment. Now that would be interesting as most of the recovered are in China and Trump's just took another shot at them today.

Officially the best poker player on RAWK.
I said previously my sister is a head nurse at a major hospital and been sending people home from work left, right and centre. Now she has been.

Meanwhile I've kept my kids off school, I'm so lucky their nan is about, not that that helps my worry for her. Yet their school still isn't officially shut. All whilst literally shitting myself for the future of my tiny business since our glorious leaders still haven't told anyone what the financial aid for businesses will be, let alone everyone else, so I'm forced to still be out working in this.

London was quieter but still bustling with life. Harrods has changed shop hours and rules, but still open and full of tourists - which is good for me in the sense that's where some of my work is, but obviously still bad. This country is all over the place and largely thanks to being rudderless.

Worth pointing out that Singapore never closed its schools and people praised their extreme, hard response.
There's not yet a real outbreak in Singapore. 200+ cases in a couple of months. Every time a cluster appears they contact trace like mad and shut everybody associated down hard immediately.

Malaysia on the other hand... watch this space.

Nappy update:

Hit up the two local Aldis at 8:30 and managed to get a couple hundred nappies in a few different sizes, which will last for a few weeks, regardless of the size of the newborn! Any that the baby grows out of too quickly, I can just donate. Thanks for the advice of not just buying only the smallest size!

They had nearly all gone again though even an hour after opening. Aldi were supposed to be doing a 4-item limit across whole ranges, but the manager on the till in the second store put the different sizes through in separate transactions for me, as all the jumbo packs had gone. He was refusing to sell items to people who were trying to take the piss on store cupboard items though.

I had a chat with the manager whilst he served me and he explained that the stores are doing great business, but struggling with the logistics. The queues keep snaking further and further back, so they move people from stocking shelves to the checkouts, but that's still not enough to stop the queues growing, and the shelves are running empty with more stock in the back yet to be unpacked. As the queues are so long, they struggle to close down tills to restock the shelves.

Obviously taking on new staff now has complications and their existing staff are beginning to isolate too. If people are out of work, I'd keep an eye on local supermarkets. They are going to have to take more people on surely.

In other news, Georgia is testing a possible vaccine:

That may well happen. Was supposed to go to US on May 1 for my first holidays in 2 years but it's probably out of question already. Hope I can do that by the end of year. I have Zanzibar booked for October but it's more of my wife's dream than mine.
You going on safari too? Or meant to be.

It's not that small of a chance when you factor in your age, gender, and the approach your government has taken to curtailing the spread. I wouldn't be fobbing it off as something that won't affect you.

Seems like the workers have been completely fecked.
What do you suggest they do?

They can't continue to pay their workforce indefinitely with no revenues coming in. Governments can step in to cover the salaries but if the virus gets really bad even they can't cover every business out there. Companies are going to fail, some of them big names, and a lot of people are going to lose their jobs. I don't think people fully realise that yet.

Maybe we should stop calling it the Wuhan virus. It's akin to Trump calling it the chinese virus.

A 3-year old fell from a window in Poland, parents had alcohol in their blood but in moderate amounts. All were tested and came back positive for coronavirus. It’s like some shit out of a doomsday movie.

I disagree. When this is all over China needs to be held to account and forced to sort out the conditions that allow these viruses to continually come out of the same places in their country. We shouldn't forget where this came from.

Don’t know much about Singapore. I just find it hard to understand how you can keep schools open when there’s a pandemic going on.
Because then parents wont be able to work and the economic effects of this need to be considered.

I can understand schools not be closed, yet. It will happen though at some stage

Feck China. Their ridiculous eating habits are what caused this and they need to be accountable for it. Hopefully it will force them to implement new regulations

Was just about to post the same thing after seeing queues on Twitter. Supermarkets may need temporary staff and should be contacting their local pubs and restaurants to get in touch with those just effectively laid off

One option could be to make going school itself optional. So parents who can afford to keep their kids at home can do so and that parents who need the childcare aspects are also covered.

So on top of pneumonia, covid 19 also causes bad parenting?

It's correct to say that timing is important on school closures and that it should happen neither too early nor too late.

But for the general public in the UK that means trusting the UK government and science advisers to accurately assess when that ideal time is. The same government and science advisers who have already botched their initial response to the virus. It's a lot to ask.

Shut up.

Enjoying the comments along the lines of 'who knew the answer to Corbynism without Corbyn was Boris Johnson'.
Welcome aboard comrade Boris.

If it's true(Never rule out the stupidity of the tory party)the next few months are going to conservatives arguing ''well actually I loved the 1970's'' ''Nationalisation is simply trusting British people'' etc etc. If they weren't such a danger to all of us, I find the current situation pretty amusing.

Does that mean its optional for teachers as well? What happens if only 2 teachers turn up with 100 kids?

Your closer to solving this issue than boris appears to be anyway

Children will have to look after themselves and manufacture ventillators.
If the under tens really are almost entirely asymptomatic then they could be the workforce that keeps the economy going.
