i bet he gets one more chance. any other manager would have him out but i reckon the utd youth fan in ole may give him one more season (unless hes asking for a crazy deal and first team assurances)

in before the meltdown if he signs a new deal. we gave jones another deal.... maybe theyll also want to protect the investment.

if he flops again next season expect him to be moved onto inter milan or someone who likes taking utd rejects.

Just a couple of months ago we thought he was done with Matic after some dire performances and yet here we are. Don’t be surprised to see Lingard come out of this period as a genuinely good squad option for a couple of seasons.
Matic has at times (albeit never for very long) been the one of the best holding midfielders in the league. Lingard has never been anything more than a no-mark Championship-standard player who is the luckiest guy alive. Basically Darron Gibson with a stupid dance and awful clothing line.

Lingard has never been a good squad option and he never will be. Like many others he's had a couple of good moments in the midst of producing hours upon hours of awful football.

I just dont see him getting a new deal.
He's not good enough and the quality of the squad will be added to during the next Window.
He's got to go now.

I really do think that he was always overrated, even on caf. But slowly and surely everyone has started to realize his potential or lack of it in his case.
I always wonder that once a guy starts to do non footballing things, he is no more the same player because he gets distracted.
I seriously do think they become a circus. It happened with becks (although to be fair he did the footballing side fine), then Depay, now Pogba and Jesse. I for one would always remember a footballer by how he played and not how he looked or what he did off the field

Tbf Pogba is still a great player, so was Becks. Depay is doing well in France and for the NT.

Lingard is just shite.

Think the issue with Lingard is he started to believe his own hype.

You had people like Ferdinand saying he's under appreciated and a master at finding space, keeping the team ticking over etc.

While he wasn't necessarily wrong, instead of saying BUT he needs to add way more goals and assists, they just wiped over it.

He's then regressed into a style of just standing in a pocket of space and then playing silly little 5 yard passes to rack up his stats and give a fake feeling of raised tempo.

In reality he was just playing a very safe, simple game that wasn't actually effecting us in a positive way at all. We can see the difference massively now that Bruno has his position, you need your number 10 to be the one that takes the risks and creates/scores goals, not just keep things moving.

Yep. Reminds me of Cleverley when he refused to take on any ball playing responsibility and just passed it 5 yards to the closest teammate every chance he got.

Yep, I think the Spanish Tiki-Taka style has influenced this on English players. It's become more about having good passing % than actually creating chances or scoring goals which seems pretty backwards to me.

The fact clubs didn't want Bruno because he was deemed wasteful is just bonkers really, and proves the point.

“I watch Spanish football a lot,” Cleverley says. “If they pass the ball sideways but keep possession, the fans clap them.

“Their attitude is that as long as you have got the ball, the other team can’t hurt you.

“I know the mentality is different here and that is what makes our game the best in the world because it is so intense.

“But sometimes I have got to not listen and play my game because I feel I’m doing the best thing for the team.”

This theory is quite plausible. Recently most academy graduate midfielders from various clubs look like 5 yard passers.

I have good hope from Garner and Levitt. But last time I saw them against Astana I was stunned to see them doing lingard. Thought waste of talent. I hope Bruno rub himself off on these young generation. We need more traditional English ambitious football which made EPL so famous across the world.

This is pretty old stuff but we all need something for laugh these days. Anyway Lingard managed to make offside here. He just doesn't like to have ball much in his feet, isn't he?

I have been watching the videos of old and Lingard was good in those. What happened to him?

Believed in his own hype = Stopped trying

Common syndrome from our youth. Such a shame, he used to be a very useful squad player.
He was a decent player who can create and who also can score goals and hit them from long range too. He won us a Cup and we should not hate him.

Are there any suitors yet? Anyone?
I am hoping some clubs in China are interest. I mean, he is Man Utd player, English international, and he got his own brand too. Surely the Chinese will be interest?

Hes friends with Sancho right? Just stop him from being a player, and pay him to broker a deal to bring Sancho here.

Insane to compare Lingard to Pogba. Pogba, like him or not, he is at worst still the only player from our squad who was voted Premierleague team of the year last season, and player of the tournament in Europa league a season before.

Fabregas on why he left Arsenal: I used to suffer, I used to spend sleepless nights suffering. And then you lose a game, you're in the bus like this, destroyed, and then you hear some players laughing, thinking about where they will be going out later.

You could imagine this guy being the person on the bus laughing away

Will be 28 this year. At some point, he needs to realise he will start to look silly.

Yet we all laud at Ronaldo for doing his Siiiii celebration - or the one where he points at his thigh, which is just as silly.

Leave the guy alone

You should be embarrassed to even mention Ronaldo's name in this thread Jesse.

I'm sure it has been discussed how cringe Ronaldo is at times. It is just a small issue of Ronaldo lg scoring 50 goals a season that sets them apart.

I hope someone does and willing to match his 100k something salary. Otherwise I doubt he will go.

Aren't they also interested in Smalling? Let's give them the priority over other interested clubs if they take Lingard off us

I second that. Lingard had enough shit thrown at him already for things that have nothing to do with his performances on the pitch. Give it a rest.

Being honest I can perfectly imagine him at Arsenal, they’ve taken other deadwood from us in the past so lets hope they do it again.
They can very well take him for free. I don't care. Just don't ask us to pay.

Daily mail is reporting Arsenal is keen to sign Lingard but he is ready to snub them in return.

Not sure what's funnier, arsenal wants lingard or lingard snubbing arsenal?

He labeled Emirates as dancefloor so if the footballing part doesnt work out (since he isnt very good at football for a premier league player) he can still dance there. Perfect transfer.. get it done!
