Ever so slightly thinking the word slave is taken a bit out of context here!

it ain't racist IMO. Makelele doesn't want to play for France anymore. It's his choice , isn't it ? So why Domenech calls him back.If Scholes got banned 2 games cos he was retired after Euro 2004. What would you say ?

Of course Mourinho lost it cos chelski won today.

Even though It's nice to see Chelsea having problems I have to say this dictator of a manager (Domenech) really got to my nerve with this utter stupidity! I mean what if this kind of unjust behaviour he's practicing is used against us? say Paul Scholes with England for example (Though I can't see it happening, McCLarens way to classy for that sort of behavior). By doing this, Domenech is encouraging other international managers to do the same thing, as since the rules are by their side why wouldn't they go for it? I mean it's really disgusting. I may be way too upset over Chelsea's misfortune for a United fan, but I'm simply being honest here to say this made me

On the other hand, as Nelson would say to Chelski: Ha Ha :D

right or wrong, anything that stands up against them arrogent lots fine by me. Ofcourse it's daft but as United fans, we've had to live with the bizarre for years and years so now it's their turn. Viva La France...

IF players must play when called by the national teams or face a ban, even when they have submitted retirement papers, it is a form of slavery.
I can't imagine the rules are written that way, but fifa is soooooo stupid they just might be.

What are those UEFA rules to do with racism and discrimination by someone involved in a club. FIFA throw the book at them, wait they have no balls so they won't do anything.

aah, but by this logic national service is slavery because you have to do it whether you want to or not?

He should score a bunch of own goals and break Henry's legs.
He could punch every opponent on the field and then refuse to leave the field and take a 10 year international ban. That way they can not pick him.

I see your point but NS is more like taxes, something done for the 'national good'. Makelele has been singled out by the coach. Ultimately its a no winner for anyone, I doubt Makelele will be at Euro considering his age.

I think the major problem with this is that slavery is such a negative part of our history. If Moureen had used any other term this wouldn't be news, as I'm sure most of us agree being forced to play international football or face a 4 game suspension from your club team is unfair.
The use of the term is unfortunate, but it seems to be descriptive of the situation Makelele is in.
