No they are not. How many more times is someone going to post this because they have read a badly sourced Sun article?
This coming phase going to be the most frustrating thing of this whole crisis for me. So many people are going to refuse/be unable to differentiate between minor spikes and a second wave.

I dread to think about the hysteria it's going to bring when it starts happening in England.

This is a huge embarrassment for all club owners and lawyers who draw up contracts and get paid insane amounts of money by clubs to make sure that contracts safeguard the club itself. Please tell me why a club should be paying a footballer to not play? They get paid ridiculous amounts of money anyway!
Moreover, if the players are still getting paid, why can’t they all be quarantined to be ready to play football - for the fans who pay their effing wages
- problem solved

put them all in a hotel with the coach driver, manager and staff - why not? Is it that bad? Maybe they will get to know each other and play better!!!!!

all players are regularly tested if possible but first and foremost they also take a hit- yes they can be away from their families

And why shouldn’t they in order to do their job?
I would if i was a player (not a Prince)

Go to work/ play - is it really that bad?

ridiculous
If that last word is meant as a summary of the post then nicely done.

not sure how they expect that to hold up. Seems a desperate attempt from them
So Norwich think they can continue being sht if the premier plays on in home grounds and come bottom and still get away without relegation?

What planet are they on?

Yep. If it was the old football league and they were all under one banner Pre-Premier League era then they might have a case.

But no chance when the PL and EFL are two different entities. Its nonsense

Will the clowns at The FA/PL potentially ruin next season, for the sake of finishing this season, so their favourites can lift the trophy?

I've not seen much mentioned about the League and FA Cup - are they going to be continued too?

havent villa been shit? Any way you can”t say it’s mathematically possible that city win the league without admitting Norwich can finish mid table

There's way more money at stake for the league compared to the 7 FA Cup games left.

Never noticed before now, but during that first tackle our Phil somehow squeezes in a nose scratch.
Surely that wouldn’t be allowed.
I'm always taken back by how quickly Jones moves on the floor, regarding the first vid.

 I actually want Liverpool to get the title now. It is so contaminated with Tory manipulation, callous greed of football's money men and utter stupidity.

Liverpool the 2020 Tory-turn-your-face-away-in-dusgust Trophy winners.

I can’t believe that the players haven’t had their say yet. What happens if half of them don’t want to play? They need to take their feedback and suggestions from them onboard before making a major decision
You'd think they would be some of the first to be consulted but I guess money rules.

They should void it. The integrity of this season has gone. You can’t give out titles when the league isn’t mathematically won. You get relegate teams when they are mathematically relegated. The only solution is to start again based on last season. Albeit some clubs will be annoyed and some happy but they can’t keep the league going. It’s just isn’t viable for a number of reasons.

1 Player contracts. Some will of expired by the time this is over. What do you do then? Give them extensions ?

2 What happens if one player/ manger gets the virus and they then all have to isolate. What do you do then cancel the match? For how long?

3 If a player god forbid dies. Could you imagine the uproar.

4 TV money/ sponsorships all expiring what happens then? Do the new shirts have to have next seasons sponsor on them ?

5 Quality of the game. Unfair to play without ‘12th man’ being the crowd. If you’d played at say Away leg say at Anfield against the scum then play at home at OT in an empty stadium hardly fair is it.

I personally think the only solution is to void the season.

Right - so you don’t agree?

I mean - footballers...

let’s agree on at least one thing - that they - at least at Manchester United are supported by us? Can we agree on that?

ok - let’s assume that you do - because at least I know that I am a United fan and have been all my life.

I also Like to think that the likes of Roy, Eric and Scholesy would want to play and if it meant a month away from their families, but in the same city and with current technology available (able to speak via FaceTime/zoom / google meet etc) could focus on their jobs - playing football is suddenly a chore ? Just a job? It’s a game isn’t it?

and you - player - in your ivory tower - gain some satisfaction for giving something back to the fans! You are being paid to play!

lolllllll

mate I don’t know what planet you are on

I love our players - but I don’t see why we should be paying them to not play

what is your argument anyway

Being away from families for about 2-3 months? Lot of them have children. You write like football is the most important thing in the world.
You are missing the point

why are we paying them to NOT play football?

and why should it be 2-3 months

don’t you want to see them play football considering the amount of money they get paid?

what page are you on dude ? Read my post again. They are footballers and it’s the money from the fans that gives them a massive earner - either they take the money and play or they should not be paid!
How can you condone players collecting wages in a pandemic and global recession ?

Quality control
Yeah. I’m sure that poster knows the individual unique situations of every footballer in the league hence he is casting judgement
And each individual’s case can’t be considered?
is that what I am saying??!

so it’s black or white as far as you’re concerned?

You have a point - but you are missing the bigger picture -

fine - if as a premier league player - especially a Man Utd player - who is already paid outrageous wages- then if you don’t want to play- then don’t get paid

simple!
Plus - let’s sort the wheat from the chaff

let’s discover our club and why not?

they play for MONEY

so if they don’t play ? Give me a break

Their motive has always been to use the situation to avoid relegation. They were somehow okay to resume the season if relegation was scrapped (which just defeats the purpose of resuming). Now that PPG is being floated in place of voiding the season they're coming up with something else. There's going to be a new one every day.

They aren't winning any legal action when it's clear they're opportunistically trying to benefit from the situation by frustrating every other alternative that's been proposed

Those Tories you seem to hate so much are pouring billions into the country and have extended furlough until October at least.
I get you don't like Johnson/the Tories, that much is clear, but to put this on him is just wrong.

This virus and how to deal with it has nothing to do with politics and anyone who posts tripe like yours is, imo, an idiot.

Tories you seem to hate so much have forced the banks/financial institutions not to pay any bonuses.

Footballers were 'singled out' as you put it because a journalist specifically asked him a question about them.

Wind your neck in, you're wrong.
It means you should maybe calm down a bit. Your triggered responses to anything that merely questions the way your gang is running things, looks hysterical.

Also we are off topic now, political discussions and shilling should probably go in the CE forum. Alternatively send me a PM detailing the full glory of this Tory Eutopia, that way we can spare everyone else's time.

The utter shambles of the UK's response to Covid is directly BoJo and his evil bunch of clown's fault. Therefore, the situation regarding the PL is also largely the Tories fault.

Because clubs are legally bound to pay them. Contracts.

2-3 months is what I get when you have 9 PL games, 2 FA cup games and 6 Europa League games (with 14 days quarantine after each away game)

I want to see them play. But what I want and what I think is right at this moment is two different things.

Yeah, they earn a lot but that is a general problem i both good and bad times. I don’t think any footballer deserves to be paid that much but we live in this world where they do. I would cut wages with more then 50%-60% for everone if I was the one deciding and have a wage limit. But whatever you do, you can’t make players play against their will. What you can do is letting them go.

Other countries : there's a deadly virus rampaging, let's stop football and focus on recovery.

Uk : feck deadly virus. Playing neutral venue is not fair. We dont want ppg. We want real football. BcD is not fair. We want pitch familiarity advantage. Herd immunity. Community boost through football. The government says it's safe.

We'll fecking see you in court la!

I think most players can be reasoned with. It is an unfortunate situation to be fair. Most employees are happy that their employer provides 50 percent of their salary in such a time.

It's not like they can go to other teams and fare better in times like this. A few would kick a ruckus but i believe most of them will quietly accept it. If this goes on for longer than 1 year the clubs would have tremendous bargaining power on contract renewal, they'll practically fighting for their welfare paycheck .

Can you imagine if x player on 100k per week contract ending next month? they'll be scrambling to sign anything. Well probably not anything but they surely have a low bargaining power
