None of them are acceptable, what the feck are you on about? Stop trying to steer the narrative away from an argument you have no answers for.
perhaps read the post I was replying to.

I’m not steering any narrative, this is a football forum that has no consequence. There’s no narrative or agenda.

So on the day that just so happened to coincide with his wife’s birthday he decided he’d test if his eyesight was recovered sufficiently to drive by...taking his wife and child on a random drive for a minimum of an hour where they happened to end up at Barnard Castle and where his son needed the toilet so they all had to leave the car and enjoy the scenery. Yep, thanks Dom for clearing that up. How did we ever doubt you.

Remember when we had journalists follow around Kyle Walker for flouting lockdown guidelines.

I'm beginning to suspect that this guy is a really powerful figure. The reaction to him by politicians sounds like something I'd expect in a dictatorship, not a democracy.

His Wikipedia page suggests some incredibly strong political views and he doesn't seem like your typical career politician.

I really do think the two take homes from that will be.

'I had no regrets' and 'I drove to Barnard Castle to check my eyesight' neither of which will do much to displace the obvious anger with it all.

Of course tits like Clayton will defend it in the hope that they might get some extra gruel when the Tory's reopen poor houses but I don't think he'll cope well with being seen as a laughing stock.

Cummings handled it well enough. The journos are fecking useless. Normal people in this thread are posing more pertinent and taxing questions.

I doubt any of them were dangerously ill, and they just fancied some time at their second home; just like so many selfish people have done recently.

So now he’s given a huge dump of information with excruciating details including some obvious mistakes. Now people will start focusing on those mistakes individually and it will become about them, not about the over-riding issue of him being an elitist wanker who thinks he can do what the feck he wants. Then people will lose interest because the minutia of his travel will sound petty compared to what’s happening nationally.

We’ll probably end up with ‘Yes in hindsight that small mistake was indeed a mistake, so let’s move on’.

Shows what a load of who ha this media outrage is, and a waste of everyone’s time and effort.

man drives to family home to support his wife and child.

mind you, this is such a left wing, Labour forum that this will be considered controversial.
criticise the post not the poster.

not sure calling me a pleb is in the spirit of this forum, pretty pathetic reply.
In this case your attitude is the problem and seperating you from the post is impossible. I will never understand the "Albert Steptoe" type. The stay in your hole, know your role and one rule for the toffs and one for the rest of us type. The subservient boot licking die in the trenches type. Laying dead in a pool of blood and shite but as long as all the toffs are safe.

Why should Cummings be more important than everyone else who had to abide by the rules and why do people like you defend this and make it political? This isnt a fecking left v right issue but if you insist on making it political the three worst affected countries are the three countries run by the far right namely the UK, US and Brazil.

So. In summary.
He turns up over 30 minutes late for his own press conference.
Tells a cock and bull story about feeling threatened in his own home well before any of this comes out.
Has no alternative child care, even for a senior government official.
And therefore has no option but to drive to Durham.

And despite neither he nor his wife actually being tested for covid decided that this was the right thing to do.

He then decided that he was so important that he had to come back to London to arrange child care...

And everything is legal and above board in the land of Dominic Cummings.

I hope everyone is now satisfied.

have you read the thread title. In what way do you think it’s not political?

What a strange take on this - this is 100% political.

edit - just read your first paragraph, and frankly have rarely read such melodramatic tripe. If the aim was for me to not take you seriously, then you have been very successful.

It’s started already. People moaning about the media Harrassing him and that he didn’t feel safe. People are so easily brought in this country.
The thing with the media angle to this is that they knew from quite early on and sat on the story. The part of the presser where a chap was asking him why Cummings did not tell him where he was when he had asked previously was a bit strange.

I must have missed part of this story; where did his kid stay while he & his wife were sick?
I thought they said they went to Durham to drop the kid off there at his sister’s place?

Where is his wife & kid now?

What don’t I get?

perhaps you don’t get it and I just disagree with you.

care to elaborate?
First and foremost, he broken the rules he helped to create, which is a breach of public trust in the government.
There is widespread outrage because he went on a 250 mile trip whilst some parents in the UK had to stay away from their childrens funerals in order to obide by the rules. It's not one rule for the government and another for your average citizen - it's one rule for all.
He has the temerity to spin a bunch of lies which can be picked apart with ease, and not only does he do that, he doubles down on those lies. There a conservative voters who have turned on him and Johnson largely because they realise how ridiculous this is. There are a good proportion of people who are absolutely livid because they finally realise that they're being taken for absolute mugs.

Lockdown can get fecked now.

Anyone getted stopped by the police - "I'm just out testing my eyesight, Officer."
It's over - there is no trust in the government advice if they themselves flagrantly break the very rules they've set. People will die because of this as the case will inevitably spike up again.

Boris now answering a question about people not social distancing in parks by advising a random woman to speak to the people if she sees it. Great advice Boris, I’m sure you’ll take responsibility for the first person to get beaten or stabbed when they ask some nutter about their lack of social distancing..
