how so? Or what do you mean?
Probably because he's willing to leave when they're (RBL) involved in probably the biggest games in the clubs history.

It also seems the Champions League holds very little importance to him if the news is true.

I don't get why he'd be willing to do that just to sew up a transfer for a team that won't be playing football around that time anyway and for a team that's not guaranteed CL yet either.

Why not...? It makes sense to do that.

Red Bull won't win the thing anyway. Get settled in London asap.
Will he be subject to a 14-day quarantine once he arrives? Might explain the decision a bit in that case.

Surely he can’t do that?

This season will still be operating and the transfer window isn’t expected to open until September.

He’ll still be registered to Locomotive until then.

If the language in his contract states that it runs „until end of june“ and not „until the end of the 2019/2020 bundesliga season“: sure he can. Why would Chelsea want to risk him getting injured when they „have him“ from july on?

Bayern seems to be in talks with Inter to prolong Coutinho‘s and Perisic‘s loan deals to cover the CL tournament in August.

Sorry for being unclear. It‘s understandable from Werner‘s and Chelsea‘s perspective.
Leipzig won‘t win the CL and he might get injured.
It’s still a bad look for him in front of Leipzig‘s supporters. Well, no crowds mean no whistles.

Eh?

He isn’t out of contract. And Chelsea can’t register him until the transfer window opens in September.

If his release clause states that - if triggered by date XYZ - he is free at the end of June, than there is nothing Leipzig can do about it.
Mate, i don’t know his contract, but the Fifa even published a guideline on issues like this a couple of days ago. Where there is smoke, there is fire.
Bayern working with Inter and Barca to extent the loans of Perisic and Coutinho to have them for the CL in August is a similar issues. If Barca rejects that, then Bayern has Coutinho until the end of June.

That’s all over the place. Those loan issues have nothing to do with it. How can you possibly think those situations are related?

It doesn’t matter when the buy-out is triggered he doesn’t become a Chelsea player until the transfer window opens and remains under contract at Red Bull until then.

It’s like activating someone’s release clause in March. You still need to wait until the transfer window opens and the player remains with their existing club meantime.

It depends on whether playing in the Champion's league during those months is actually enforceable. You have to remember that players will have contracted holidays (how many that is I don't know), but there is a high chance that the Champion's League is being played during the period of holiday that is expected. It may very well be that players actually have an option over whether they play or not and the club may not be able to do anything about it. Of course, this depends on what their holiday year is (I'm not sure myself), but if it follows seasons then the holiday year is coming to an end and there is very little time to use their holidays.

Werner may very well have the right to say his season is done. Then, be planning to move during that time to London. He won't be able to play, but he will have completed his move.

Last year the Champions League final was on 1st June. We have nine games to go, so it will easily be in July when the Champions League is played. Preseason started on 20th July last season. Unless there is a massive delay to the Football Leagues and the holiday year does not run with the season, then I think he will be within his rights to end his season. It is possible that clubs may be buying back holidays from the players, but, in the end, if the player wants to take the holidays, he has a legal right to take them during the holiday year.

Werner could say feck off I’m not playing but he’d be in breach of contract and wouldn’t be getting paid by Chelsea either.

Pretty dramatic move and far bigger a deal than people suggesting this are making it. He might refuse to play for Red Bull but nothing is getting him to Chelsea quicker.

Even if what you say about holidays is true, I can’t see annual leave being written into a player’s contract myself and he would normally be back in pre-season training then anyway, he isn’t to be a signed Chelsea player at that point.

He would get paid if it is part of the holidays in his contract, though. Those are a legal obligation that cannot be refused.

It won't get him to Chelsea quicker, but it will allow him to; find a new home; rest for the new season; not jeopardise his move through injury; actually move to London; get to know his new teammates; have an unofficial tour of the Chelsea grounds. In the end, during his holidays he can do whatever he wants.

Doesn't that release clause end at some point? Or has that been covered?

Fair play quite a coup that, i would rather he goes to Chelsea than Liverpool so can't complain and tbh it was never realistic for him to come here, it's a position we aren't desperate for and i'd rather we focus on that right wing,

Also I am all for this league getting more and more top talents in it, best league in the world right now.

I've a feeling this is going to be another Shevchenko / Mkhitaryan type player.

On a recent podcast I was litening to the journalist seemed to imply he has a bit of a fragile mentality about his own ability (needed Klopp to tell him it was about money and not abliity that Liverpool were backing away) and so if he gets off to a difficult start in English football, he may not recover.

He'll score 35 goals next season now I've said this!

Great Coup there. Wish we could get him but our priority is right wing so..

A much better signing than Morata. He is the next best talent to Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho from the Bundesliga.

These are exciting times for Chelsea fans too. Us and Chelsea seems to building a competitive team for the next 4-5 years. Arsenal on the other hand.. Ha!

Some serious bargains to be had in the window right now, if you can afford it.

Fernandes in January, Werner now, wonder whose next...

Werner and Ziyech (two of the best attacking players in Europe) for a combined ~£80m. The same fee Leicester City are demanding for.......Ben Chilwell. A perfect illustration of how ludicrous the "English tax" is.

I don't really know too much about him other than highlights (where everyone looks good!).
He is a top player will score your guys loads of goals.. Quick and decisive, with great workrate. You got a great player for a very fair price.
