I guess because both Fernandinho and Silva are leaving and as the bench tonight showed, City like to have two players that are like for like replacements rather than have a star player and then a youth player on the bench or someone that’s a level or two below who they’re replacing.

Maybe that will change with the court case.
It'll be interesting how they spend, if they can, in the coming transfer window. Gundogan is an able replacement for Rodri or KDB, Bernardo Silva. Then Foden can play for KDB or Bernardo. They coped without Sane, to a degree, but he should be replaced. Aguero's future replacement will be very interesting...

Wonderful players. Great coach. Sleek passing, sublime ball-control, wonderful finishing. Such a treat to watch, as long as they're not playing against us. :)

And some here wrote the other day that there will barely be any difference in quality between the two Manchester clubs come next year. I love the confidence of the Cafe. ;)

I think they'll beat Chelsea easily. Their CL second-leg against RM is mouthwatering.

They have issued a statement condemning it. Unfortunately it might show what some of their fans are like.
I've seen fans from plenty of clubs spouting the same white lives matter crap. The same ones that spout the free Tommy and Katie Hopkins nonsense.
A lot look like bots but there's still plenty that aren't. It's sad to see but it's apparently rife.

I would recommend to Pep (1) that as a bare minimum (alongside keeping Sane), he needs to get Digne (To address their LB issues once & for all), Koulibaly & Škriniar (To replace Kompany & Otamendi), De Jong (If Fernandinho is leaving after this season), Fabian (To replace David Silva), Sancho (To allow B.Silva to move into CM) & Kane (To replace Aguero). The only problem is that I also want most of those players to come to Old Trafford as well.

So if the Glazers did actually have a brain, United could easily catch up with City by getting these 7 instead.

(1) One should remember that City don't have FFP to deal with Next Season, considering that UEFA have de facto suspended it.

Rodri is his understudy and his replacement. Why would they go out and spend on another specialist player again when they did that with Rodri? It's his first season in the league and he's done well and still adapting. He doesn't look as agile as Fernandinho, but he is disciplined in his role, can read what's going on around him and most importantly for him has good passing from deep and is composed on the ball.
To provide competition for Rodri (which would reduce the number of defensive mistakes he makes) and to allow Fernandinho to be phased out (especially when his contract ends at the end of next season) altogether. Likewise considering Barcelona's rumoured financial issues, it would make sense for City or ourselves (1) to try and obtain De Jong.

(1) Since Matic will likely leave after next season.

Not that I condone the message, but freedom of speech is freedom of speech. If they want to pay the company money to advertise that then I don't see why the company should refuse. The message is going to be ridiculed anyway. On a separate note, I think people who say White Lives Matter are probably more likely to be ignorant than racist.

This list :houllier:

Real football is not like Fifa 20. No way ant team buys half of those players, especially this summer.

I see your point, but freedom of speech works both ways. If the people who put forward the message have a right to do so, then surely so does the company to say no, we're not using that because it doesn't align with our own values. At the very least it shows poor judgement.

I think you're right that it's more ignorant than racist, but there's a good argument to be made that ignorance breeds unconscious racism in this case.

I think Chelsea will put up a good fight. They looked great vs. Villa.

I can't see Chelsea losing that game.
I think Chelsea were okay and Aston Villa were totally terrible.

But Manchester City's results and performances since the restart (Like said i only saw the highlights of todays match) is a clear message that they want to go on run before their Champions League campaign goes on...... it will be surely a close match and Chelsea's squad has more fighting spirit than Arsenal's but i think Manchester City will beat them.

The fact is though, if City want to win both the Premier League & Champions League next season (and going forward), they need to be getting all 7 of those players (which they can easily afford, especially when FFP is de facto suspended). Likewise one has to take account of the fact that with an exception of Digne & Sancho, all of those players are replacing existing players within that squad.

Are we going to see drink breaks in every game? I get the first game but this is getting ridiculous.
I think it's because the league is heading to summer season. So you'll expect to see it until end of the season.

I'll never understand why we didn't go for mahrez, wild.
Not just you, I'd say Chelsea, Arsenal and even Spurs missed out on him, maybe a little tougher for Spurs to pull it off, but I believe the rest could've. On twitter earlier today I saw a stat of Mahrez, has played 37 games for City were he played 90 mins, City record is 35-2-0, while Mahrez has 17 G + 24 A = 41 G+A contribution in those 37 games.

That's ridiculous. They're probably short in defence, I'd say they need CB and a LB, and probably a striker if Jesus goes, but 7 players?

You're also in some weird reality where they're expecting to win both the PL and CL next season, but will be free of FFP because of the ban, thereby not even being in the CL to begin with...

Yeah I would agree. Basically everyone has a right to do what they want. If customers don't want to use this company to fly banners in the future, they also have the right. But in this case the company felt (possibly after weighing up the options) that it was permissable to fly the banner and so that's the decision they made. People talking about criminal charges for this sort of thing are crazy.

Former Toronto FC target Alexis MacAllister is looking comfortable so far. I guess he really was too good for MLS, though it'd have been nice if we were able to get him a couple of years back.

Soyuncu is a weird looking chap.

Surprisingly attacking lineup from Brighton but I've been excited to see Mac Allister and Lamptey for ages.

Interesting lopsided setup from Potter. Mooy is not spending any time on the left flank at all. Potter has overloaded the right side with Mooy hanging around there and picking the ball up whilst Connolly plays higher up alongside Maupay. MacAllister is playing in his #10 and seems to be expected to pick up the ball in space. I guess the plan is to draw out Ndidi to the flanks and create space in the middle for MacAllister to do some damage. They just need Dan Burn to push himself higher up to stretch the pitch else Leceister can just choke them up on the one flank.
