Traore is a lot more than just a pace merchant. He's a brilliant dribbler in pretty much every way and has plenty of tricks of his own (probably more than Saint-Maximin). He's just so ridiculously fast and has so little end product that it's easy to fall into the trap of him being just about the pace.
It's crazy that people have put him down as just a pace merchant
Spot on. The old "Traore has no end product" is just a lazy old cliche!

He has 5 goals and 10 assists from 36 games so far this season, in a team that doesn't score a huge amount of goals. That's better than players like Grealish and Maddison, who are applauded for their creativity.

Traore can be utterly devastating at times. Easily the most exciting player I've seen at Wolves for many, many years. You've not seen too much of it in the games against you, but more consistency will come in time.

Watching Saint-Maximin now, is like watching Traore last season. He clearly has ability, but it only really comes to something once in a blue moon.

He needs someone to harness that raw ability. Whether Steve Bruce is the man to do that I'm not so sure.

But it may all soon fall into place like it has for Traore, at which point he will be a scary proposition to face.

Very good assist just now for Newcastle.

He impresses me every time I watch him, I genuinely think he has it in him to be world class. He reminds so much of a mix of Mane / Sterling. It's a shame he's not a LW but I'd still be really up for signing him.

As i said in the Adama thread, wouldn’t mind him here at all.
Even though Right-wing is probably his secondary position, I’d choose him over James.

Imagine having him and Adama on the flanks, late in the game, playing on the counter.

He tears players apart. There's seemingly no answer for what he brings to the pitch, a proper dribbler. His development will be fun to watch.

I can't help but feel we should have gone for someone like this guy, who's already developing nicely in the PL, over a championship winger that may never be cut out. You look at Mane at Liverpool and although he was good at Southampton, he truly stepped up at Liverpool.

Thought he was impressive early on when I watched him but obviously back then little seemed to be coming off. Interesting to hear that he's been doing well of late. His dribbling ability was notable from the start

Incredible dribbler of the ball, really strong as well. Made a few good runs and had decent end product but then at other times, he would mess up the simplest of passes or choose the wrong option. Reminds me of an Arsenal player.

He definitely looks gifted but I imagine his teammates are fuming half the time because he never passes.
Which is part of the reason why he has 1 assist in 19 PL matches.

He has all the dribbling ability in the world, but he needs to know when to pass and increase his potency in the final third to elevate his game.

He might not be the best but he's certainly entertaining to watch.

To be fair when you've got £40m man Joelinton up top can you blame him?

Inconsistent, lacks end product and decision making.

He is a great dribbler, but people would get frustrated quickly if he was here. Mane at Southampton was better, especially in end product and decision making. He was single handedly winning them games and destroying top clubs at times.

What does this have to do with Saint Maximin?

Because people are trying to find a player to compare ASM to and the Mane comparisons are unfair to Mane because he was a better player in terms of directness, passing, decision making and overall end product.

Just because ASM can dribble and do stepovers and is fancy on the ball doesn't mean anything when his end product and final delivery is on par with Dan James who has better output than ASM. How ASM develops and projects is anyone's guess, but right now he's not even close to Mane as he was at Soton.

He's looked lively since his first game for Newcastle and seems to finally be turning good play into goals/assists. One to watch.

I think he's the best dribbler in the league when you combine the speed he does it as and the technical ability of it.

I think he would do well for a big team, Manchester United included.

its not a bad comparison. Mane was just ahead in his development.

Its more fair to compare Mane when he first went to Salzburg

He doesn't need to leave now they have Saudi management. For the same reason, they don't need money and would cost a fortune for any prospective buyers

Im a big fan of his, I've watched a lot of Newcastle games this season and he's always stood out. Technically already excellent despite being young. Like Mane, Sterling etc his best attribute is that he can beat anyone and pick a pass.

It's a shame we have Rashford for the LW otherwise I'd want us to be all over him. He has it in him to be world class - and personally from a purely dribbling point of view I think he's ceiling is higher than Rashfords. People say Mane was more impressive for Southampton - but a lot of people were impassive regarding signing Mane because he always seemed to have poor games against us.

If he kicks on and continues to improve his end product then he becomes a very very good player indeed.

His dribbling is so dynamic, among the best dribblers in the league.

A big club should try to turn his head now before the Saudi’s tie him down (metaphorically of course)

I'm glad to see him do well, it's nice to see players improve their understanding of the game, especially when they have all the tools. Hopefully Dembélé follows the same path.
