Since the covid19 hits, we all missing seeing Ole's team, the Caf has been very positive amd optimistic.

That's good enough for me.

He is an ex-player who is extremely likable. He has made good signings and whatever happens, he will undoubtedly leave the squad better than when he found it.

I'm excited for more matchday squads without Lingard! Thanks Ole!

I really can’t wait for our restart, hopefully we kick off with a bang and really lay down a statement for the remainder of the season.

It's tough on Ole and I still think the battle to get into the top 4 will be beyond us but as long as we keep improving on the pitch it's looking better. Still feel we are years away from dominating again so I think winning the Europa this season would be a massive achievement.

Also if he sells Lingard this summer, I will be the happiest I have been as a fan since we last won the title.

Could not find the positives or optimism thread. So bumping this one.

I am as gutted as any of you regarding the last minute gut-wrenching equalizer from last night. It is easy to consider our team as a bunch of bottlers considering the trauma of the past few years. But let us try to focus on what the positives are:
  • Finishing in the Top 4 is still in our hands
  • If we win against Palace and West Ham, ideally and most realistically, a draw should do it against Leicester
  • Even if we screw up the remaining league fixtures, we still have a second remaining shot at CL football with the Europa league. We will most likely have a 10-14 day rest for our potentially 3 crucial Europa league fixtures (not counting LASK). With a rested team, we should play our strongest XI in each match and have a great chance of winning the EL
Now is the time to back our lads. Let's do this.

I think the EL is actually our best chance of getting CL football. We should definitely make the semis with the draw we have.

Real positive that we saw again last night is the relationship between Martial and Rashford. Set up one for each other and Rashford should have buried another. They interchange so well.

Guys! We will reach top 4. I know it looks doom and gloom but would you expect Vardy and Co to win again Sheffield United or Tottenham. Or Chelsea winning against pool. I think we will reach top 4.
You cant keep winning every game. Thats humanly not possible. 17 games unbeaten is quite a record. We are going in the right direction. All of us knew that we would falter some where. Lets just hope that this was it

I think we’ve got at least 4 attacking players who can win us matches now. That’s huge. Unfortunately Greenwood and Fernandes were very quiet last night, but Martial and Rashford were at it.

I just worry about our defence - I think Lindelof and Maguire are equally average as each other, and I think we all agree De Gea isn’t all the way there.

On another day we squeeze out that 2-1. But I just think there’s too many individual mistakes at the back. That’s a £110m~ CB pairing but they don’t really feel like one.

Shit happens really
We were very, very close to a classic Fergie game of playing bad and pulling of an undeserved victory.
It's not all doom and glory and we cannot expected to thump all teams by 3-4 goals as has been the case since the restart
Bruno cannot play well every game, same as pogba, Greenwood etc
As goes for the defence, we still have the joint second best defense in the league, not far off Liverpool
It's all a matter of the final 5% improvement for us to be very close to Liverpool.

Some better posts on this thread.

So many positives in this team at the moment.

We went a goal down and responded instantly, how often has that happened this season?

We have controlled games since the restart and looked like we could have won ugly yesterday.

We played badly still created chances. lets take positives and get top 4.

We play Palace, West Ham and an out of form Leicester. On paper that's considerably easier than the Europa League route. When you look at the fixtures Chelsea and Leicester have we might not even need maximum points.

I think all these teams are better than Basaksehir or FC Kobenhavn.

We did okay in cup competitions in recent years while we have a habit of completely fecking up the league.

From what I have read here, some of those posters actually don't know anything about Southampton this season. They think Southampton is like Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Sheffield & Brighton (Not disrespectful to those teams but the point is that Southampton has a complete different style and can hurt any team). We'll be fine, I consider Southampton as our toughest fixture compare to the remaining three.

Inter, Roma, Sevilla, Wolves, Leverkusen, Getafe etc. are still in the competition.

Top four would be a massive achievement this season given the number of experienced players moved on and our injury problems. Let’s not forget, Arsenal and Spurs would love to be in our position right now!

The best part is, this team is only going to get better. The average age of our match day XIs is one of the lowest in the league. Next year I’m confident top four will be a formality and we can be looking up at 1st and 2nd rather than over our shoulder at 5th and 6th

Yes but we should definitely make the semi-finals at the very least and then it's just two games. Add to that that a draw after 90 minutes isn't the disaster it is in the league, that we generally tend to shit ourselves when top 4 is in sight but usually do decently in cup competitions and overall I think it's reasonable to say the EL is the likelier route for us.

Regardless of the result last night, I am still hugely optimistic about this team. We look like a team who can actually win games and play good, attacking football. It has been a struggle in the past to score goals, so it's nice to know that we have goals coming from many players within the team now.

Last night was disappointing and it's clear to see that we still have a lot to work on. But, there is "something" there to build on and it doesn't feel quite so hopeless going into next season. I still think we can get top four and may still be able to do something else along with that. This is an exciting United side to watch.

First step to positivity is not to take a draw or a momentary loss of form as a step back into the tumescent doom and gloom days of Moyes, LVG, Mourinho and post-new-manager-bounce Solskjaer.

There are shades of grey in every success story.

He's stabilised us and got us into the Champions League. But that's as far as he's ever gonna take us. Time for thank Ole for his service and back the next manager who can actually coach and hope he gets lucky with a few transfers like Klopp did.

I think I’m mentally broken. I was feeling pretty much what everyone else was feeling during the match but I’m trying to cheer myself now. Hoping the players reset over the break and come back stronger. We’ve got Newcastle which we really should be beating so hopefully we can build on that. If we lose to Newcastle then I’m not sure where we go from there.

As a small positive, I thought we started okay with the ball. Bruno, rashford, martial, pogba, greenwood, a good front five who looked likely to create before martial got sent marching. Feels like this could have been a game to kick off our season, especially if it was immediately followed by announcements.
As it happened hard to excuse individual performances or oles performance as coach not to get some fight out of them after the individual mistakes had cost us the chance of winning

He has had us playing good football in patches. Although I feel this is more by telling the players to enjoy themselves rather than top tier coaching.

He has also been a lot more professional than our last manager. Again something that was originally to be admired but is now to his detriment.

We will be ok once we get some matches and form.

Perfect storm of a shit summer and no pre season.
I'm still behind Ole when it's all said and done. The thrashing hurts but it happens once in a while in football, and what matters is how one responds. I just hope makes wise decisions moving forward. For example a player as flawed as Maguire should never be undroppable, admitting you signed the wrong guy and benching him would bring more respect than blindly picking him and dropping others around him.
