Can not really argue there. The last 10-15 years have been an absolute joy to watch these two lock horns and push each other.

Do you think one could have became who he is if not for the other? They always just seemed to push eachother boundaries in Spain for a good 7-8 years.
No way.

I truly believe they needed each other.

They pushed each other to higher abilities that even they did not think existed.

Without the other they would of stayed at a world class state but because of the rivalry they got to a footballing stage of immortality where no one in history has ever seen.

They are both the pinnacle of the game IMO.

Completely agree! Will be a sad day when they depart. :(

Who cares if he scores or not, he left the club 11 years ago ffs, and when he scores against us he celebrates his goals.
Completely agree. It's a bit like some sad old bloke in the pub talking about the stunner he used to date a decade ago. She left you mate move on...

Maybe some people like to follow football outside of our own club?

If this is your only input, why come into the thread?
Because it keeps coming up in the first page. I wonder why united fans are more interested in a player left us 11 years ago, than talking about any other player in the club. Now I understand why, @EngimaMK said it right.

Being interested in another footballers career, let alone one of the greatest players to play the game, doesn't stop us from being interested in our own players or club? What is this logic? :houllier:

Because without him we would be a club who have 2 CL wins. He deserves some fans respect - if you dont want to give it then fine but if you are wondering why he still gets it from others then that's one reason alongside that this guy is arguably one of the best footballers of all time and to some - within the 2 best footballers of all time.

To show that we are like other football clubs. We actually do care about some of the players that have played for us. Ronaldo gave us his all, he respected the club whilst he was here and has continued to respect the club.

Not many fans can say they had one of the best ever players to play, he was made at Manutd.

There's a difference between following football outside of your club and some United fans celebrating every single goal Ronaldo scores to this day. I've genuinely never seen anything else like it for any other player.

We perhaps dont talk so much about Ronaldos technical abilities as of late, but i will say his touch when taking down the ball on the run is excellent(always have been tbf).

As someone said, ain't another player like Ronaldo. Btw, check a kid called Messi out, similar following. Nothing wrong with appreciating two of the greatest players ever to live while they can still entertain us.

Yeah, that's fecking weird too. They're great players, and there's nothing wrong with admiring their talent, but the level of hero worship is too extreme.

Feeling like a slave in Manchester was really respectful towards the club at the time.

Couldn't wait to feck off to Madrid whom he gave his best years of his career.

But yes, he did send us hugs and kisses from Spain so let's cheer all his goals for Real and Juventus :houllier:

Just a bitter fan.

There is alot of footballers who think Barca and Madrid is the pinnacle.

Just like in F1 drivers want to race for Ferrari.

Call me bitter or whatever, doesn't change the fact he always saw United as a stepping stone towards the bigger and better.

Don't have a problem with him going to Real, but have a problem with fanboys like you who rate single player higher than a football club.

A player will use a club as a stepping stone and leave when he feels is right for him. Ronaldo wanted to leave a season earlier, he stayed an extra year and gave us another league title and CL final.

I am not rating a player higher than the club, I am admiring one of the best ever players and proud that he played for our club and was made at our club.

There is nothing wrong in that.

There's nothing wrong with that, but cheering him on when he scores penalty against some club which doesn't have any connection to United in any way possible is over the top and cringe to be honest.

I'm grateful for everything he's done for United, but slave comments killed any respect I had for him.

He didn't make any slave comments despite the english media's headlines milking everything out of the situation.

Blatter made the slave comments. Ronaldo was then asked if he agreed with Blatter that clubs shouldn't keep players against their will and said yes. Which meant every newspaper in the country wrote 'Ronaldo feels like a slave at Manchester United' as a headline despite him never saying that.

I still don't understand why Blatter was involved in that saga. It gets more weird if you think about Qatar 2022, a country with slave-like labor force.

I loved Cristiano when he was. Would download his highlights from soccer pulse (rip) after every game. However, after he left I don’t overly care for his goals or performances. I admire him obviously but celebrating goals against random teams whilst playing for another club? Nah

as a juve fan i never liked him before coming here and always thought he is a level below Messi but boy how i was wrong.

The guy is the God of this game. We are currently not even top five teams in the league in terms of creating chances but the guy is on his way to 50 goals in all competitions at the age of 35!!!

If he wins the Golden boot this season, for me it's gonna be even more impressive than all his previous golden boots and balls.

He is on his way to break all time record of our club set in one season around 100 years ago.

And to think we don't even play to his strength crosses and counter attacks, it makes all things even more impressive.

After this season, it dosent matter if he wins CL with us or not, the guy has all my respect forever.

:nono: There is not a single player that Cristiano is/ was above. They even chose to give Modric his 6th Ballon d'or, just to keep him level with certain players. And Cristiano was tearing Juve apart in each and every match Real and Juve played, you guys even applauded him in your own stadium.

Though I'm not surprised, there are others on here, who thought Hazard or Bale would replace Cristiano at Real. The Italian league went from being the 3rd best league in the World, to being 4th, just because a 35 years old guy is tearing records apart there. It's laughable really the sheer disrespect and hate this man gets.

According to WhoScored he has 32 goals this season? Not sure where you're seeing he's close to 50

32 for Juve.

42 goals for Club and Country this season.
And yet, only 2 CL goals and 6 non-penalty league goals against the current top 10. He's a shadow of the player he was a few years ago.

You say Shadow I say he is effortlessly banging in goals left right and center in a team which lacks not only service but both individual and collective quality.

I see a guy (GOAT) who changed leagues for the THIRD time well into his thirties and is breaking records in another league and for another team.

Clearly he bothers you because you came here with a comment to attempt to bring him down when in fact he is still better then who ever your favorite player is ;)

He is the best player of his generation for a reason my friend, don't forget that.

The league is exactly the way it was before he arrived : 1 or 2 teams try to compare with Juventus for half the season and then they just drop because they don't have the bench to sustain their level through the entire season. There was an unprecented amount of penalties this year because of VAR, please stop trying to pretend non-penalty and penalty goals are the same (it also works for immobile). He might spent 2 years in a row in a weaker league than Liga not even being the top scorer, there's nothing exceptionnal about that. He still have good (or great games) but his impact in the way his team plays decreases over time. Yes, it's still great for a 35yo player but he's not the magnificient player he used to be, not by a longshot, even if he reaches 50 goals this year (let me remind you that Quagliarella was actually older when he outscored him by 5 goals last year, if you want to mess with numbers)

The thing you are all missing is his "lack" of goals has nothing do with him but rather the team is god awful and dont create the chances that lets say a Bayern does.

Stick him in Munich and watch the rain of goals that start pouring in. The fact that he can get near OR 50 goals for a team that lacks any kind of creativity is nothing short of astonishing.

Penalties are penalties. You still have to put them away and MANY players can't do it. Never understood the hate for a penalty goal. He cant control that all he can control is putting it away when it comes.

Do you actually watch Juve play? They are by far and I mean BY FAR the WORST of the so called "Top clubs" this season. They are just horrid both defensively and offensively.

The fact that they are going to win the title this season (they still ,might not with there form) is an insane amount of luck I have not seen in a league season in a long time.

The amount of fortunate wins or last minute draws or Lazio dipping form.

Had Lazio not dropped form the past 2 week they would have a 5 point advantage.

I will even go as far as to say that IF and it is s very BIG If Juve win the CL (I highly highly doubt it) It would go down as his greatest club feat ever. This team has no business competing for a CL title and the only reason they are even considered is because his name is on the squad list.
