I dunno if you mean Martial hasn't actually gotten better but just been given games or that he hasn't improved much, but I do think he's added more to his #9 game in the physical battle for sure

It's the price, an £80m should improve your team or else there's something drastically wrong. And an £80m player should be transformative and automatically become one of the best players on the team. Maguire has improved United, but not the latter two things. Fernandes cost £10-15m less than Maguire but had the £80m player transformation. If there was a complete flop then he would be ahead of Maguire for worst signing but all of James, Wan-Bissaka and Bruno were good signings.

James cost 5 times less than Maguire and wasn't bought to be a star of the team. He has done his job well and was overplayed for a while. If I stayed in a three-star hotel for three-star prices and it did the job fine, I would find that less disappointing than spending a fortune on a 5-star hotel that was an average 4-star hotel level.
