Horrendous again. Mark fecking Noble got past him today, he was so bad defensively. We miss Shaw a lot.

Not as good as Shaw but he's a fine backup and it would be interesting to see him on the right.

That falling back on his ass every time the winger runs at him, needs to stop

Not his fault but, more so in the 1st half, our moves literally went backwards whenever we went down the left because of his cutting in. Infuriating.
We need a left footed Fullback as back-up or as a replacement for Shaw.

It was especially damning when he put up his hands to defend his face conceding a last minute penalty in the first half, right... Terrible.

Let's keep slaughtering the teenagers when we fail to perform as a team - because that's the United way right.

Not good enough currently. Needs a loan to hone his positioning and attacking skills.

He's not fine as a squad player.

One of our problems that our rotation options shouldn't even be at the club and he's one of them.

Had a poor game today and his last match. Think the criticism is very harsh. He is a teenager so of course his form will be up and down. I am not saying he is going to be "the man" for us at left back, but come on, he has had an excellent breakthrough season and now provides good competition and cover to Shaw and also he has fantastic desire which is to be admired

Spot on, young players need encouragement not dimwit fans blaming them for all their troubles at home.

Think he's got potential, but needs to be eased in. Runs like this make some youngsters (Greenwood) but don'y help most.

He's very naive... A few points tonight he gave the ball away where if he just used his body differently he'd have won an easy free kick.

Not good. But Ole should have swapped TFM an Williams to see if that had more effect.

I think there are lots of rotation options that need to go as you say, a teenager breaking through, playing regularly and generally playing well, he certainly isnt one of them, what absolute tosh. If he had been absolutely dreadful I could understand, but he has done quite well, lets see how he does over the next season or so rather than casting aside a teenage after 6 months, seriously, what an awful post

He made Jared Bowen look like prime Luis Figo. He was beat on every contest and needed bailing by Matic or Maguire time and again. Not a good day for him at all.

We don’t need a backup to Shaw. We need someone challenging him considering Shaw gets injured a lot. Is Williams up to the task currently? Nope.

Like a lot youngsters he impressed when he burst on the scene but he’s looked pretty average since. Looks very limited, especially as a left back and beyond Shaw and AWB our full back options are pretty bad.

There has always been exceptions to the rule but i'm not a fan of full-backs playing on their weaker side, it just stifles any natural width from an attacking perspective.

He is still young but was the worst player on the pitch today, verging into liability territory.

I hope it’s just being young and inexperienced.

Yeah, and pair that with the fact he doesn’t really look that good going forward anyway — it’s very predictable from us on the fullback positions.

Maybe it's the pressure but he looks a lot less adventurous going forward than he did a few months ago.

Watching him just makes you want to give Shaw anything he wants. When Shaw is the team, almost everything goes through him. He locks down the left flank, and dominates with the ball.

Just hoping Shaw will be available for Leicester. It's gone tits up since he got injured.

He's young and promising but clearly needs time. I'd consider loaning him for. a season.

Underwhelming. He'll be a good squad player though which isn't a terrible future.

Exactly. Everyone in attack literally stepped back today when Williams ventured forward because he's right footed. So the option of him going directly down the byline and stretching play simply wasn't an option. With Williams coming in,it just crammed our attack. Zero width.

So,surely we have someone who's also left footed at the club who could've played LB for today ?

Terrible performance. Lost so many duels. Kept falling over. Did well prior to Greenwood's chance in the first half but even then his cross was poor and needed a deflection for it to go anywhere near a United player.

Weird how he always gives the winger he's up against an extra yard and then having to catch up, every fecking time.

Was bullied a bit and this is where his lack of physicality is a problem. Still needs to bulk up a bit more, once he does he can use that to win more duels.

I'm not sure we had anyone available other than Fred.

It's not really Williams's fault, i'm sure he'd rather be on the other side. TFM at Palace - didn't do much wrong but offered nothing going forward and barely crossed the half way line. Either of these or Dalot are not an option as a backup at LB for me.

A right footed left back in the modern game just doesn’t work for team balance in attack or for crossing when you have inverted wingers, and it also puts the ball on the wrong foot when playing out from the back when you want to counter or pass to the winger.

Indeed. Dalot is not up to it,imo, and the jury is out of TFM,though I'm willing to give him time.

We need fullback covers brought into the club this summer, especially a left footed one.
