Don't see a big issue really, players already had quite a lot of time off. Time for a short summer holiday and get on with the football.

Can use 5 subs still and will have to rotate players , that is all.

Will benefit clubs with deeper squads.

Yikes. Next season is probably going to be harder than we all thought. Fecking virus.
So important that we learn how to rotate our players next season. If there's a chance to add quality to the squad, we have to take it.

The rumour was a few weeks back that clubs taking part in European competitions would not play in the League Cup next season.

That's the absolute minimum that has to happen. Ideally, there would be no League Cup at all, or at least the Premier League clubs should be exempt from it en masse.

We certainly didnt look like we were trying to win a trophy last Sunday that's for sure. The priority for the club is securing champions league football this season. Anything else is a bonus. However as we are in an unprecedented situation with the next season starting so quickly, I am sure the club will have to make some sacrifices.
We’re in an unprecedented situation where we only have to win 3 games in a week to win a European trophy. I know. Play the best team.

No need to cancel the League Cup, it tends to be quite entertaining. However, I don't wanna hear any sanctimonious crap from the pundits if we play Laird, Mengi, Garner in it.

This is one where, without a doubt, there can be no criticism for United playing the kids en masse. Frankly, I reckon they could surprise people and get some good results if they don't draw top, top quality opponents.

We could really need some attacking depth. Please let us get sancho at least. Then a Bruno backup would be nice or we should use old Mata.

Nations league? They had to wedge that in there, international football should be in the back burner for a while yet only thing that’s important is the ones in the euro playoffs.

We'll play 3 (max) europa league games where other teams will play 3 pre season friendlies.

It's going to be the same for everyone.

Kids in league cup and FA Cup next year - Who cares if we lose in the first round

It's the domestic cups we need to throw next season. Just play the fringe players and kids in it.

Wouldn't it be 4 games?

Round of 16 2nd Leg, Quarter Final, Semi Final, Final

I care. Want to win something! Even in this mad chaos that we see.
More well coached teams that can rotate are going to prosper I think next season.
I think Arsenal have proven they can do it well so they might push for top 4.
City going to win it I think. The madness help them with the depth they have to rotate.

5 subs will help alleviate the game load. But it favours the richer clubs with a large and strong bench, smaller clubs with academy players on the bench will find it more difficult to compete.

Championship have it even worse, start the same on the 12th yet finish 2 weeks earlier despite 8 extra games.

Interesting point though:

However, the start date for teams still playing in European competitions is still under discussion.

It remains possible they will be given a delayed start, given they could be playing well into August.

No, but vs Liverpool with rotated side.
They were terrible and scored from 2 awful liverpool mistakes.

Defensively, i'll give you that, they looked alright in 2 games. But they've not looked good at all. The fact that we've seen enough to suggest they're in better shape than us going into next season is laughable

Even more reason to spend big this summer and add to our depth. We have no choice but to spend otherwise we risk regressing.

Woe is us. Same circumstances for Wolves & City. They had March-June off anyway
I get the sentiment but City's squad is already much deeper than ours, also they will respond to Liverpool winning the title by spending whatever they need to to strengthen it. Especially now they know they can get around FFP by refusing to cooperate with UEFA investigators and all it'll cost them is a £10m fine.

I can see a lot of players with “slight muscle injuries” when the Nations League kicks off. No need for it this year and especially not at that time frame. Surely they realise the majority of players that would be picked by nations are going to be playing in the EL/CL mini tournament? Daft.

Just scrap the nations league, it's absolutely pointless and boring anyway.

We really need to by hook or by crook, take at least a point home from Leicester. If we do, I’d throw the Europa and play teams similar to the one that went to Kazakhstan. It’s not degrading the competition as I actually like it, more protecting the interests of Manchester United.

Why are some posters calling for the scrapping of the League Cup?, for lower league teams its the highlight of the season and financial windfall to play a higher divisional ranked club.
It is so selfish and demeaning, we are desperate to qualify for CL on Sunday, the chance to beat Barca, Real etc.

Well Crewe, Cheltenham , Plymouth fans would all like to play us or Chelsea or Arsenal.
Why would anyone want to take that chance away from them?
It is in our hands to play youngsters , and they will even gain from the experience, so its a win win for us.

These kind of teams have just as ardent, and diehard fans, people who live for their teams next game, as we do.
They just do not have as many.

In a nutshell, what I am trying to say is if Plymouth draw us in the League Cup 5th round, do you think their fans would not be as excited as Us playing Real in the CL semi?

Doesn't that windfall come from tickets sales though?

Stadiums won't be open for the public anytime soon, let's not kid ourselves
