This is the first and only time I will allow myself to celebrate finishing in the CL places - feel it was massive for the club this year, would have been gutting to miss out after our run since Feb

In relation to the last few seasons and how this one went for a while, it‘s a good achievement. We just need to finally build on it. Two or three key additions to the team and we should be up there much more comfortably.

When are the Europa League QFs? Is it the 10th August?
That should hopefully be the next time we see Fernandes, Martial, Rashford, Pogba, Matic, Maguire, Wan Bissaka and De Gea.

A second string XI against Lask should give our players plenty of time to recharge. Hopefully securing CL football through the league means we can approach the Europa League in a more relaxed manner.

Give peas a chance.
Considering how good the teams that finished above us are, third was realistically the best we could have done this season with the squad we have.

An accomplishment for sure but lots to build on.

Some people over here speak as if they re not happy...
I wonder why that would be...

Meanwhile...

14 Games Unbeaten in the League
9 Clean Sheets
30 Goals Scored
7 Conceded

That's what I call progress, nows the time to invest in the squad and build on what we've accomplished in 2020.

What a turnaround! Ole and the team have a lot to be proud of. I know 3rd isn't the end goal and it can't be for our club, but it is a stepping stone that may lead to greater achievements in the future.

Happy for Lingard on a personal level as well. It's been tough for him and I'm happy he got the goal at the end.

I never saw this coming in the dark days of winter. There’s still a lot of issues to be resolved but Ole and his team have earned the right to continue. Now for what is a free hit in the Europa.

I'm happy we got third because, overall, I do think we were the third best team in the league. Especially happy to finish above Chelsea too.
Tough one for Ole now as progression for this team is closing the gap to Liverpool and City. I hope he can do it.
I honestly don't care about the Europa now. The first 11 from the past month need a good break so we can start well next season.
Well done to Ole and the squad!

No more Europa. Good times.

Now let's win Europa, and say goodbye to that compo forever.

Considering how appalling we’ve been at times in the autumn, this is absolutely great ending position. Well done to Ole and the players. Now build on this and don’t make me relieve on top 4 position ever again.

OLE! OLE! OLE!

Glory, Glory, Man United!

We are #3 and we are in CL and it all feels so amazing!!! Including, fecking Jesse Lingard sealing it with that comic goal HAHA

Tell me anybody who thought we'd finish 3rd, this season. Ole is the man!

Well said by Maguire: "3rd in the PL should be a minimum requirement for this club"

I hope ole doesn’t come out and say this is his best achievement like that one time we got to second.

onwards and upwards. We need to aim for titles!

Third place in the table
Second best on games lost
Third best on goals conceded
Third best on goal difference
Joint 4th ( with Leicester) on games won
5th place on goals scored.....and way behind Liverpool and City

Despite all the moaning and criticism on here, it’s not the defence that’s the priority.
We need a top class striker and a class attacker/ winger.
A bit of a clue, is that we’ve had to take in Ighalo as cover.

Pretty close to title-winning form since the start of February. Maybe not quite with the ridiculous standards set by City and Pool lately, but certainly historically speaking. We'd have finished on 87 points if we'd kept that going throughout the season, which usually does the job. With the extra players (hopefully) coming in soon things are looking quite promising indeed.

Bring on Sancho and then bring on the next season!

Most prolific goal scoring front three in the league
Top of the table post lockdown
2 cup semi-finals

All these stoics acting as if finishing third is beneath them. We were never going to go from 6th to 1st against Pep's City and Klopp's Liverpool in a season.

This was a season of transition and we managed to get 3rd - excited to see what we do next year

We finished 3rd with double the goal difference of Chelsea in fourth behind us. Yet you never hear Chelsea fans criticize their manager the way some people here criticize Ole. Get behind the team we are getting better and this is definitely a much needed step in the right direction.

It's a base to build from and no more.
No prizes for 3rd but its an improvement.
Next season we need to kick on and improve again.

Not a bad result considering we were (supposedly) relegation fodder earlier in the season :D

Imagine if we hadn’t been so appalling in the autumn. This would’ve been sewn up. Ole has earned another season for me.

Now then, do we go strongest side in the Europa or rotate heavily and give the tired regulars a proper rest ??

This is actually very good. It this type of consistency can be maintained for 38 matches, we would end with 86 points. Not enough (anymore in Pep's era) to win the title, but enough to be challengers in most seasons. We need some signings now to build on this.

I said in the Dybala thread we were going to get CL and you did not think so. I told you I would quote you when we did :) and I remembered that just now :)

Finishing third is always a disappointment for us, but from where we were, this is a massive achievement and more importantly... A huge platform for future success.

This summer is absolutely crucial now. We've got to identify the key areas for improvement, and use our financial position to make sure we can move up the table.

The last thing we can afford now is a repeat of the Fred and Grant season which killed our momentum from finishing second. We need to make this summer count so we can challenge for major honours. No mistakes.

Onward and upward, fellas. Last couple months have had their share of ups and downs but there were enough positive moments for me to believe we've got the pieces to compete meaningfully in the next couple of years. Proud of the lads.
