Remember when people here were thinking that he would be the next Gattuso.

Nah like the guy, good attitude and he’s got phenomenal physical qualities but he’s nowhere near Man Utd standard. I do think he’s worth a punt for a lower level Premier League team though as he wasn’t terrible at Palace.

Not sure he has much of a future anywhere in the PL. Looked fairly promising very early on but doesn't really seem to offer anything at the moment.

He probably needs some fitness, confidence and most importantly games under his belt. He didn't do much wrong vs Palace but he didn't really contribute anything either. Vs Chelsea he was quite sloppy with he ball.

He was doing OK at Palace then got ousted by AWB which shows you how much better he is over TFM, Looked nothing special at Fulham but not that bad either.

Injuries apart, he looks out of his depth at Utd. Be a decent player in the Championship for a club like Norwich or Bournemouth. Still young enough to work on his game and get a better move thereafter

Physically he has the traits to become a good player, but it's obvious he has no brain.

Against Crystal Palace, you look at him and think he could be useful, then the game against West Ham makes you remember why he's all but forgotten.

Brandon Williams has come in and taken the role that is all Fosu Mensah could probably every hope to achieve here (quality squad cover for full back positions) and is much better at it.

We should look to sell him, we could probably get within the region of 5m for him.

He's been out for a long time, so yeah give him a chance before we lay our judgement. Has looked alright so far as a backup. Give him some games in EL

Perfectly fine as a squad player, at the very least, and if he can focus on developing in a set position he might well be more than that.

I really don't understand this comparison to Tuanzebe who has shown nothing so far he is good enough for United. TFM also has not shown that but he has played at international level with Holland too. He is one year younger and has lot of attributes to be a decent squad player. If it's a choice between TFM and Tuanzebe I would keep TFM as a back up.

Fair enough if we can find someone better thats happy to play those few and far between games when all our other options are out.
Better than Bailly, Tuanzebe and Mengi I mean. Those guys can be the versatile backups. Or just keep Smalling, either way.

I think Dalot will leave this summer and TFM may be kept around as backup. Laird will likely quickly jump ahead of him in the FB pecking order but his ability to provide cover anywhere across the back will probably keep him here.

Some people seem to think we've millions of CBs but in reality Jones, Rojo and Smalling are on their way out and Bailly and Axel haven't been consistently fit for ages. Mengi is 18.
Maguire and Lindelof are actually our only fit senior CBs right now. Even if we sign another it's very conceivable with an injury or two that we might need TFM to fill in there at some stage.

He's not really good enough to make it here but I can definitely see the logic in keeping him another year while we build out our defensive group.
Agreed. If he stays fit I've no problem whatsoever with him filling in across at the backline, though if he can attract a good fee I wouldn't mind him moving on either.

Our CB position is interesting in that it looks beguilingly bloated with players, but once you separate the wheat from the chaff as you say we're very thin on proven first team quality. An unpopular opinion of mine is that I wouldn't mind Smalling back in the mix next year, but the feeling seems to be he wants guaranteed first team football and his United ship has just generally sailed.

I rate Smalling. Himself and Maguire would have been immense defensively. But Ole wants us playing out from the back and that just isn't his game. So I can't see him coming back.

He'll do well at Roma or wherever he ends up. He's a good dominant defender.

Hi season at Villa was streets ahead of anything TFM has ever done. Being injured all season has made it hard for him to do anything more.

Playing in the championship and the PL are two different ball games.

Playing very well and getting promoted v not even getting a game for a team that conceded hatfuls and got relegated.

Worse than Dalot at RB, used to be average at DM but was overrated as he’s rapid. Sell.

There's a certain risk of keeping players who can't progress because of regular injuries... He's 22 and we've seen maybe few games in first squad from him.

Game vs LASK may be his last if he won't start showing any maturity.

His loan spells suggest he isn't prepared to graft it out at struggling sides or in a harshly physical environment.

Feel like he'll end up in the Eridivisie or something.

At some point returning to Ajax paid off for Blind, especially in Champions League.

I just don't think he'll have done enough to make Ajax want him.

Blind's positive traits were still there to be seen.
If that's the case then he's finished on higher football level. EL is the only chance for him, now.

Filled a squad role decently late on, but surely needs shifting on for all our sakes.

Not good enough for a Man United team that wants to challenge for the title.

I haven't seen enough of the player to make a proper judgement. We'll be looking to improve on the squad that finished 3rd for next season, so we 100% need quality throughout in all positions and that includes more than adequate backup. There's still time for him to improve and be part of those plans. I wouldn't say that he's clearly an obvious player to go into the first 11, at least based on his recent performances. Perhaps it's not the fairest way to judge him though on a small handful of games after a lengthy time out.

Hard to say with Tim as injuries etc have given him limited time on the pitch.

I always had time for him though and felt he could be a versatile player for us.

I think back to likes of Fletch and Johno and even Scott currently getting stick and fans wanting them sold. But they helped out big time in the end

He's not really good enough for me. He doesn't excel in any position he plays in. He'll always be 3rd or 4th choice in any position at United.

his contract expires next summer, I will be really dissapointed if he stays here beyond that.

Disappointed with his lack of progression. I hope to never see him at fullback again, unless it's for closing up shop in a done & dusted game. Offered nothing going forward vs Palace & didn't really like his defensive placement as a fullback. Maybe better off as a part of a back 3, but he seems to play to narrow as a fullback.

Will be interested to see how he will be used vs LASK, as well as any pre-season games (if any). Will he be a CB or a DM? Based on his performances this season, I can't see him lasting much longer at United, plus he needs games to develop, so hope someone comes in for him.
