I've seen the national coach saying he should move to Man Utd previously, obviously not bad for a squad player but there are other areas that need improving first

I like him but the price and the amount of football we can offer will surely be stumbling blocks. I doubt the deal's imminent somehow, but wouldn't mind being wrong on that at all.

If we're going for a CF it should be someone genuinely worth starting. Don't think Jiminez is that. I'd focus on other areas. Martial is better than him IMO and any CF signing should either be reasonable (Ighalo replacement) or top class (upgrade on even Martial).

Eventually I think Greenwood will take the CF position anyway. But probably not for a few years.
Somebody who will continue to push Martial and play without too much drop off and different attributes sounds good to me. As long as the price is right of course.

Losing to Comeback Winning!
Don't play with our emotion!

That said, maybe he's that ambitious, he wants to win CL before declining.

Who knows he might be willing to play second fiddle to Martial, and open to challenge for the spot. If you're too good, you'll get the spot, and both Martial and Rashford may have their off form moments again in the future.

Sounds too good to be true.

Fantastic player but he’s 29 years old and would be very expensive. Martial just had a top season as well so I’m not sure he instantly improves our first team by miles like a new defensive mid, left back or centreback could

What's the point when we have Martial, Ighalo and Greenwood, with even Rashford capable of playing uptop?
Solskjaer’s quotes the other day were important I think. He was talking about not being able to rest players/play kids when you’re in Champions League. Got to be top all the time.

He must be angling for a new contract at Wolves so we’re being linked with him, would be a good buy but cost a fortune and we’re well stocked up front currently.

Would've jumped at it end of last season but now? Pretty eh about it. Martial, Greenwood and Ighalo is enough depth for one CF position.

Martial, Rashford, James for LW
Martial, Jimenez, Ighalo for CF
Sancho, Greenwood, Lingard for RW

are fantastic options to have and a requirement for a side wanting to win the league.

Would be excellent. Mature and needed given we can only assume that we won't keep Igalo. It has to be at the right price, which for a 29 year old would be in the region of £45m. More than that and he isn't worth it.

He's scored 15+ goals each of the last 2 seasons with Wolves as the starter, he'd be as solid an option off the bench we could find.

Greenwood is likely going to be able to fill in at RW/LW or CF if needed but having someone like Jimenez on the bench in the event of injury/suspension or fatigue would be great. Would also allow us to rest some of the the likes of Martial and potentially Sancho during lesser cup ties and CL group matches.

Both Rashford and Martial have missed meaningful time the last few seasons and we've looked impotent in attack without them more often than not, having someone proven in the league and reliable capable of stepping in would be huge.

I don't think we could find a better backup CF option for around 30m than him.

This is strange, RTP are actually a reliable source not like the sports dailies that do the transfer gossip.

Weird. I’m all for another type of striker with Martial and Greenwood being the main two options but surely Jimminez is a bit too pricey to be a back up option.

Whilst I agree we don't need Jimenez but Rashford is simply not a striker and isn't capable of providing an adequate job for us.

Even James was preferred over him when he struggled up top when Martial was injured at one point.

Would be a great signing. Nothing wrong bringing in another goalscorer and his all round game is also good which means he'll fit well with the way we've been playing.

Fantastic signing if true. This guy is very good. I really don’t want to get invested in this because it seems to good to be true.

Sure that sounds like a great idea, lets spend 50-60M or whatever Wolves would demand for a 29 year old striker who's not better than Martial and would be on the bench.

I really hope this is fake news.

Yes, I'd like another top striker at United but;

1. A striker isn't a priority area we need to improve
2. He would cost a bundle which means less money on areas it should be going
3. He's almost 30, you'll get almost zero return on him
4. He's not a big improvement on Martial. for the £60/70m+ you'd spend on Jimenez, there are younger better options out there.

I feel like the people who are saying this is an amazing signing are just trying to convince themselves. We did this with some previous managers and their poor signings and look where that got us.

Doesn't make any sense but from what I've read RTP don't really do rumors, it's not one of the usual Portuguese bullshit peddlers. They're a public broadcaster and if they're saying it, there's something in it. Would be weird for them to piggyback off A Bola out of nowhere. Big big fan of Jimenez, it's the kind of move City would make to have a top quality rotation option. But he's far too good to be sitting on the bench in most league games, and Ighalo's loan extension till January would make very little sense if this was true. Was assuming Greenwood would cover all front 3 positions with Sancho coming in.

Do people genuinely think Martial is a better CF at present than Jimenez?

And why is Igahlo even worth mentioning? We should have a better second striker than him anyways.

Jimenez has a lot more to his game than martial in my opinion

Rumours that Dalot would be involved in a player swap involving Jimenez.
I don't think this ll happen though

Think it’s a load of bollocks. Would love to be proven wrong though as he’s a fantastic striker.

This is definitely not happening. Joshua King will take Ighalo's place as the backup striker.
