from what ive seen of Ndombele, he has talent, but hes not gonna be a player that will run box to box all day... Mourinho tries to "change" players into doing what he wants, like the way he wanted martial to play...but these days with the modern footballer it doesnt wash anymore...
can you imagine if Cantona was playing under Mourinho? cantona would have been out the door...
Doubt it. Jose likes leaders on the pitch that don't need to be told what to do. Ibra was very much like Cantona, even though he was much slower by the time we bought him, he had that ability to change the game with his intelligence and brilliance. Had a touch of nastiness too like your Drogbas and Costas of this world

I'd say Cantona would have been a perfect fit for Jose

I think he could end up back at Tottenham after Jose in all seriousness.
Spurs might want him - but he would be mad to go back. The chances of him building a team as good as they were are slim, and the expectations too high given his previous stint.

That squad needs some serious work, and Jose wouldn’t have helped things.

They need an entirely new defence for starters. It’s a hospital pass to whoever takes over from Jose.

He’s got a good reputation at the moment, and can go on to a good club (I’m not Saying spurs aren’t), but going back would end in failure in my opinion.

Yeah, fair point.

Anyway, I think he might be sitting on his hands a while longer. Most big clubs appear to be in a good position manager wise but I suppose that can change quickly.

Poch sucks.

Give me one good excuse why his record against the top 6 is rubbish.
Those top 6 results in the league are ignored. He gets talked up by his fan boys mostly for reaching last years CL final, Roberto Di Matteo remember him? went one better and won the CL...

Pochs European record outside of last years fluke is conveniently ignored as well.

Criticising Ole because he brought some better players in and got them to perform is completely bizarre. That’s literally his job.
Especially when he criticizing Ole for only getting top 4 because we signed Bruno, but then giving Poch a pass because he wasn’t backed at Spurs. Seems like double standards to me.

Yeah, I always brought that up to them and they just ignore it.

That's bad...really bad.
I'm surprised he still got some fanboys.

If it's true that he had to wait out this season or say goodbye to 15m it makes sense that he hasn't signed anywhere yet.
Especially with how the world is right now I don't think any of the top tier teams are planning to get rid of their manager this summer, so he couldn't have had anything lined up ahead of time.
But now that his non-compete clause is done he is available for any of the next big clubs that decide to make a change.
I don't think he would prefer to go back to Tottenham, though it is an option of course.

I wouldn't include 2017/18 as a negative against him. Tottenham were the better team against Juventus; five stupid minutes cost them the tie.

I would actually say his last two Champions League campaigns were promising. Drew and beat Real Madrid in the group stage. Topped the group with Borussia Dortmund also. (2017/18). They were really good in the CL that season.

Reached the Champions League final last season. I think he was on an upward trajectory in terms of the Champions League.

I fully expect him to return and manage us again at some point. I have almost no doubt that it will happen.

That said I don't think it will be anytime soon. Likely he'll have been at one or two other clubs in the meantime and we'll likely have been through one or two managers as well.

Some brilliant backpedalling from Pochettino re the possibility of him coaching Barcelona. He's a good coach but it's an awkward time to manage Barcelona with presidential elections under 12 months away.

That's hilarious, backtracking due to the lack of demand he has had since being out of a job!!

I always thought Barca would be a good fit for him. Even with the current team, he should easily make them a force again. I think Inter will try for him as well.

After Espanol?

The streets wouldn't be safe for him
Not only did Ernesto Valverde play for and Barcelona and Espanyol he managed both Catalan based clubs. There was (maybe still is ) a gate named after him at Espanol's stadium.

Poch would be smart to bide his time and not rush into anything. I wouldn't be surprised if the Juventus or PSG jobs become available in the next 12 months.

That's a guaranteed title right there. In fact they could present him with the trophy while they appoint him. Save coming back in May!

Don't forget Inter. That job could be available soon.

Him going to Barca is bound to end in tears. Vocal section of the fanbase will want him gone the moment he arrives. Will be like Rafa at Chelsea.

Amongst footballing managerial 'Gods'
This bit has to be a wind up. Surely, surely you don’t believe this. Ole has already made so much progress and in what world was hiring Mourinho ‘smart’?
We won the Europa league with Mourinho and got second place. By far our best season since Sir Alex retired. Even though, we expected more, he at least accomplished something significant. So it was smart in terms of winning trophies, but not smart in terms of our footballing amusement and principles.

Nevertheless, Poch has shown what he can do with little investment. If the rumor are true that we are on the verge of signing Sancho for a British world record fee, that just proves how right I m. the board is investing so much into the success of the club and they should get much more recognition than Ole.

On Poch next move, whoever gets him will get a manager that will produce similar or better result than Klopp did at Liverpool if they give him a lot of cash to spend.

Didn't he say he won't take the Barca job because of Espanyol
Well..

Pochettino August 2 2020 said:
Pochettino admits mistake: "Now I'd never say I'll never coach Barca"
Mauricio Pochettino has backtracked on his comments in 2018 saying that he would rather go to his farm in Argentina than coach Barca. "You never know what can happen in life," the former Spurs boss said. He has been without a job since 19th November 2019.

He'd be a good choice to get them out of this mess and stabilise the club. Knows the league well and has a proven track record of squad building. The star player of the team is also his countryman.

Not gonna flog my own account, but I posted early in the match tonight that Setien is fired tomorrow, Pochettino hired in the next few days, Poch sacked in 2 years for missing any real achievements and then in 2022 it will be a Return of the Pep.

Along those lines.

Poch he shouldn't take the job. That entire Barca squad is a complete mess. Spent £300m on three players whose best position is where Messi plays and now don't have the money for the 5 signings they need to rejuvenate midfield and defence. Poch is a better manager than Valverde or Setien of the others Barca have hired post Guardiola, but any manager coming in right now is being set up to fail.
