The transfer world is one of constant bluffs and double bluffs. You don't know who's signing who and until it's all signed off anything can happen.
Clubs in particular love to go after our targets so they can say they got one over on Man United at the last minute. FFP being relaxed does not help us at all.
I think you’re panicking for no reason, if there was interest from other clubs we would have heard something by now.

That's way too much for him, will be difficult getting rid of him in a couple of years.

Feck. That’s a lot of money. Wondering how much we are going to give Greenwood when he signs a new contract. Upwards of 150k easy?
I've not read the article, so not sure what his basic salary is what can take him 'up to £65k'. I think Greenwood would probably get something nearer £100k / week, if I was to guess.

Up to £65k could mean anything though, I can't read the Athletic but I wouldn't be shocked if his new contract is a relatively low base salary, something like between £15k-£25k with a large appearance bonus.

Doubt it’s that low. They gave Gomes 25-30k and he has barely played for the first team. Maybe you’re right. It’s a base of 40-50k and the rest is bonuses/incentives. Any idea how much McTominay’s new contract is worth?

Brilliant site and very reliable editors. Imo a bit more than semi reliable. Draconian posting rules though
Ed002 who seems to be the most knowledgeable is a gigantic ABU though and I'm sure he makes anti united stuff up on there sometimes or at least spins a narrative against us.

These kinds of contracts are the same reason why we can't shift anyone when we want to get rid. I don't really see a long-term future for Williams at United either.

Big fan of Brandon but no idea why we're giving out contracts no other club would be willing to match let alone better

That contract for Brandon is a farce, he is nowhere worth that at least for now. Give him a 30-40k per week and review it end of next season.
I was hoping he should have even go on loan honestly.

We would have no left back cover then.

Writing off a 19yr old who's actually done alright for the Man Utd first team in the PL is absolutely ridiculous.

Many quality players aren't considered good enough for the PL until much later in their development.

Up to £65,000 per week is probably the going rate for a squad player at a top club nowadays, some of you are so dramatic.

Happy for Williams, really good breakthrough season.

Read the tweet again. It says up to 65k. That could be anywhere from what you say he should be given to even lower padded up by bonuses.

The contract would be incremental based on his progress. So start with 30k this year then 35 next 40 2 year after. Thus it would reach 65k by the end of his contract.

Yeah, he's done alright, but that's kind of the operative word. Perhaps a position change would help his cause but as a LB he needs a lot of work.

No one can resist the pull of an FA Cup winner that will play in the Europa League next season. Guess it's time for us to admit defeat and move on to the other billion left-footed French centre-backs we've been linked to.

If he ends up at Arsenal its proof our name was being used and we were never actually interested in him. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to work that out.

Continuing to overpay players ridiculously. Should be on £30k per week max. Not sure why the club doesn't just spend £300m on transfers to fix all the weak areas of the squad when they're so happy to just throw away money in other ways.

He’s our only backup left back. Sign a new backup leftback would cost a lot more surely. I mean JLingz have 150k/week or something ridicoulus.
Basic wage for Williams is probably around 40k/w

He's not even an adequate lb. His inability to cross on his left completely destroys our team going forward. It forces all of our attacks through the centre which makes us way easier to defend against, so we need a new lb regardless. He can be a backup rb but that doesn't justify paying a ridiculous wage like this. These type of contracts are how we got stuck with the likes of Jones, Rojo and Bailly. No interested team will pay their wages unless they agree to lower them. It's also why we've been forced to let the likes of Young and Sanchez go for free. No team would have been willing to pay more than £30k per week for Williams at this time so it's just wasting money for the sake of it. It's not like he would have actually left the squad if we didn't offer him more than £30k per week.

EDIT: Lingard being paid a huge amount is just further evidence of our club's wage structure being ridiculous which was my whole point so no idea why you wrote that. Just reinforces the point I'm trying to make.
