The explosion was in the port, basically next to the sea. Water in the video makes sense.

Absolutely horrible, and that it happened in a giant city like Beirut makes it even worse.
It's almost lucky that it happened at the port with half the surrounding area being the open sea though. The absolute devastation that the blast did to the surrounding buildings alone already shows how bad this might turn out to be. Insane, I hope they get those trapped under collapsed structures/buildings out asap.

Fireworks were the first fire, the massive explosion was from munitions, no way could any amount of fireworks caused that.

I have read something that a building with fertilizer was nearby.
Still not sure its munitions.
Sources now saying the 2nd explosion was due to nitric acid stored in that hangar, confiscated from a shipment from over a year ago. Was due to be destroyed but it seems negligence played its part.
I hope they evacuated a lot of people when the first fire began. If there wasn't enough time, then I think it's gonna be as few thousands dead at least.

While I hope the person who recorded the video is safe, it'd be a miracle if he comes out of it relatively unharmed
News stations asking civilians at home to go to the street and clear the highway of rubble and glass since ambulances can't seem to pass in order to get the injured to hospitals.

My workplace is in the same vicinity, like 200 meters closer to the explosion.

Where are you? My workplace is directly next to Burj Al Ghazel, all windows are shattered but thankfully we had all left work by that time.
Could anyone please tell me exactly where this explosion happened? Its obviously by the port/shipping containers but I can't pinpoint on Google earth.
I think anything concrete can only be found after proper investigation, certainly not this fast.
They'll need to assess the whole situation and not wanting to come up with false accusation.
