He's more talented than James imo. Doesn't mean he's a better player. But when he's up against his marker, I have more confidence in him beating his man.

Good cameo.
Looks like he took the opportunity very seriously and tried his hardest. Also seems to have filled out abit.

Send him on loan to play EVERY week so he can come back to us with more match experience

Strange to see him at left back but done well
Nah, wingers are often tried at fullback if it looks like they're having trouble making it as a winger. There is less pressure to perform in attack, but because they are wingers, they know how to play on the wing. If they have the workrate for it, it's worth a shot. Makes way more sense than say, shifting a CB to fullback.

Must say I doubted his potential after his first few first team appearances, but tonight he looked like he could really kick on. Great first touches and got up the wing brilliantly.

I'd give him more game time next season when the likes of Lingard and Mata are moved on.

So there is life here after all. I was confused on what backroom staff see in him but that was a very good cameo.

What happened to all the people who keep saying they just can't see it with him  ffs he's always looked the dogs bollox in the reserves, he just need the confidence to make the step up and bring it to the senior level

Yeah, much better. His brain and his feet appeared to be communicating tonight.

First time he’s played that he hasn’t looked nervous! Delighted for him, decent performance.

A move to the Bundesliga would be really good for his development. They constantly play loanees and near enough every team wants to attack. We’ll assess him again next season.

No surprise to see him playing better now he has his peripheral vision back.

I was saying earlier today he was borderline unplayable at times in the reserves. His dribbling and driving with the ball looked really effective. I was quite excited about his chances in senior football but he definitely struggled with the step up. He needs lots of games to bring him on and it looks like he’s heading out on loan soon but there actually currently is a place in the squad for a left footer on that side. He’s also far better on the left than the right. Best game for us yet but loads of space to run into and very little in the way of sustained attacking pressure to deal with. I think he’ll never be strong enough or aggressive enough to be a LWB and when he’s running at speed strong tacklers will send him flying, a bit like James. I think he’s either a left winger or bust for a team of our size. I’m looking forward to seeing how he develops on loan.

He is looking more comfortable now than before. He has the talent, but probably needa a loan to get regular time. Loan next season, then. he can be back when Mata is gone to get a place in the squad.

He's been pretty good in most of his cameos this season.

Same thing I've been saying. Today was his best form but whenever he played before it was always on the left where he showed glimpses of a good player

Did well but I'd say he was more left wing than LB, didn't see any defensive play to suggest otherwise. Was a good cameo though....

Looked alright tonight. Much better attacking contribution than Williams offered, as you'd probably expect.

Seems to be handling the physicality of mens football better. I would rather play him than James, he seems to make better decisions.

His best competitive performance tonight in the first team (he was very good in Pre season against Inter). Like others have said, I think there’s more to his game than Dan James and his passes were crisp and thoughtful whilst he also beat his man a couple of times.
I’ve not been a lover or hater of Tahith but I do like his spirit and he always gives everything. In the reserves he’s had some special performances so nice to see him hopefully starting to find his feet here.

Personally I wouldn’t loan him - I’d let him take James ‘ spot on the bench/squad and let James get some first team football elsewhere for the season.

He was very useful today, strong sub appearance, very decent pace and work rate, contributed to attacks despite being a LB (for the first time in career I would imagine).
Also it’s better with the new hair style - perhaps that’s the reason for performance improvement.

Great 20 minutes. Had some great moves along with Pereira.

It's been embarrasing seeing some of the bashing he's gotten from our fans. He's got a lot of potential as he has great technique, pace, a good shot on him, and he can pass. Just need to get used to playing on a higher level and he needs to work on his physique.

Weren’t Dalot Pereira and Chong really good against Tranmere not so long ago? These lads tonight were probably about the same level. I wouldn’t mind seeing them do it in a better match but you can only play what’s in front of you. Chong will get a few cameos now till the end of the season. Hopefully he can do the business

Encouraging 20 mins but not really a competitive situation.

See how he does out on loan. Needs to be a better option than Dan James just to have a chance at United; even then he'd be a back-up player.

I expected more from Chong this season but his poor performances early on, set him back a long way.
