My issue is if that is the price, and you cannot pay it - pull the plug. If that means focusing on getting a Loan in, or switching to different targets then do it. Getting rid of Sanchez is some really good business.

They`re usually very reliable, German`s biggest non-tabloid newspaper, bit like NY Times.

As others have said, it`s basically an opinion piece, quoting Watzke, Zorc and basically only report what the British tabloid press have been doing the last two weeks. No claim for insight sources.
Also, SZ rarely take part in these transfer muppet shows, they mostly report when things are done and don`t engage much in speculating based on "internal sources". Also dont have showmen like Falk writing for them.

From memory he's on a basic 390k a week with bonuses (which he obviously isn't getting since he's not even at the club) which can take it up to 450k. And while there is a chance we might pay him off a bit, we certainly won't be paying the entire amount. Hell, it's unlikely we're paying him anything at all, as the reports are that we are probably not going to get any transfer fee because Inter will have to compensate for the huge wages for the first year or two.

Nah, it's a long term plan and that's perfectly fine, for clubs that aren't owned by dictators it's the normal route. Sancho is one of the most exciting british talents in a long time, signing him is a part of a long term strategy, there's a reason we started talks over 1,5 year ago.
We've splashed too much cash on mediocre players, so the only solution is to trim down to see whats what and then we gradually improve the areas that requires it the most, identifying the right players is key. Short term it was obviously going to cost us in terms of injuries, but long term we should benefit from it.
The cash outlay on Sancho is going to be huge, but now is the right time to do so.
Our forwards if we sign Sancho:
Rashford, Martial, Ighalo, Greenwood, Sancho, James
Generally 3 of them will start, Ighalo will most likely leave in january as i doubt we'll try to make it a permanent signing. So we see how they perform, will Rashford, Martial and Greenwood continue to evolve as players, do we have to splash the cash on a new striker? Is James good enough for the role as a backup/squad player or should we be looking at options there.

Matic, Mctominay, Pogba, Fred, Lingard, Pereira, Mata, Bruno
I'd be surprised if Pogba stays for more than one more season, how will Fred and Mctominay perform, will Lingard improve his overall level or will we have to get rid of him next summer. Will Pereira leave this summer or the next. Essentially we're looking at Matic's last season as a starter, so we should have someone to replace him in the starting lineup, then another midfielder to replace Pogba, cost of doing that is going to be rather unfortunate so we'll need to hope that Fred and McTominay will be solid backup players.
Then there's the back 4, where ideally we'll need a new left back and someone next to Maguire, goalkeeper situation to be looked at one year from now but hopefully Henderson will be a solid alternative and him and De Gea can compete.
If we get this right, we can be in a position to mount a proper challenge for the big trophies in the 21/22 season.
There's not that many players we can get rid of, and it's not likely to bring in large sums of money either. Jones? Smalling? Pereira/Lingard? (i'd prefer to keep Lingard instead of Pereira)
Club should be more ruthless and move on DeGea so his wages can make space for Sancho. We were naive to pay £350/wk for a goalkeeper.

You're not thinking long term. We had no alternatives to De Gea and no clubs were going to spend a lot of money on signing him, essentially we'd be looking at losing him for little or no compensation while having to spend a large amount to replace him as Henderson sure as shit wasn't, and still isn't, ready to take over. Chelsea spent a record breaking amount on Kepa and are looking to replace him already.
So based on the alternatives you go for the most logical route, which is stick with De Gea while Henderson continues to evolve, if Henderson looks ready then give him the chance and go from there.
