Saved 3/4 penalties, 6 clean sheets in 15 games. Pretty decent season from him. So far. I think he's an excellent keeper, although a bit short for England maybe. He will most definitely have a very good career. I read at The Athletic that a coach at United thinks he's ready for top-level football right now, strong words that but I'm not surprised.
Pretty sure he's plenty tall enough.

I'm fairly sure he's taller than any other keeper at the club
Really? Transfermarkt is saying that he's 10 cm shorter (!) than Lee Grant (and that he's shorter than all other goalies). Maybe they are bullshitting.

Yea I first read that and thought, what!? Kovar has always looked like a giant lanky fecker. Picture below supports it too, towering over everyone.

I don’t often care too much about keepers coming through but he’s really made me take notice this season. Genuinely probably deserves player of the season. He was De Gea levels of saving the teams ass on so many occasions. If he keeps that up then he’ll certainly have a career near the top.

What's his distribution like?

Yes. I'm not too opposed to the idea that we give de Gea an extra season to see how Kovar and Henderson do on loan (basically making sure if Henderson can truly handle PL as another season provides more evidence). If Henderson becomes our main keeper in 2021/22, Kovar will have 2 seasons out on loan. If Henderson doesn't make the step up as we would like, we can try out Kovar should he be successful on loan.

Although, I'm also not opposed to trying out Henderson next season because we also have Romero as our 2nd choice. It's an embarrassment of riches to solve our keeper situation.

Honestly, United should flaunt our success with young keepers around the youth industry. Already we can point to Henderson, and also Gollini (who is starting for Atalanta in the CL). If Kovar makes it a 3rd, I don't know if there would be another PL side that is as attractive as us for young keepers.

Robert Zieler is good enough to be shouted about as well imo.

You could put Heaton and Johnstone on the list too.

Don't always agree with Limerickcitykid - but on this one he is spot on. Kovar is something special!

I was honestly staggered by how good he was this season.

Kovar saved quite a few penalties last season, so that alone is an improvement on De Gea. He certainly impressed in the u-23 games I went to at Leigh Sports Village.

Kovar is better than Henderson was at his age, IMO. He already has better distribution.

Well, he has never played senior football so I think this is a good step.
Yep, important that he goes somewhere that he gets regular 1st team football rather than warming the bench.

Henderson spent a full season on loan at Shrewsbury Town in league 1 iirc.

At the same age that Kovar is now, important to remember. As I said, think this is a good step. The important thing is that he plays regularly, which I expect him to do at Swindon. Kind of funny that Kovar played against Swindon this week. Maybe Richie saw something.

Deano even spent half a season in the Conference north and League Two before his Shrewsbury loan. Very common for keepers to go well down the leagues to ensure they are undisputed number 1s. Just need that game time, no matter the level.

Have to say he was brilliant everytime I've seen him this past year. Some of his saves were prime de Gea-esque. I don't really take note of GKs but you couldn't help but not notice him. He was a real match winner from the back.

Hopefully Swindon works out for him.

Swindon played in league 2. They didnt manage to finish the league due to COVID-19. Can someone tell me whether they promoted to league 1 due to their position in the league?

Yeah he was outstanding last year, I seem to remember him saving a fair few penalties too. He’s a very talented keeper, genuinely very excited to see how he progresses.

I think he is a better prospect than Henderson. Commands the area better and uses his feet better. Henderson maybe a better shot stopper

Yes best United youth keeper I’ve ever seen, in my opinion. I hope we can keep hold of him and give opportunities if he develops something along his potential.

when he is on his game he has shown he is really great, hopefully playing some professional games will get him to the level of consistency required to be at a top flight club.

Swindon went up as League 2 winners on PPG basis. They were top on GD having played a game less than Crewe who were 2nd.

They were firmly in the driving seat for Automatic promotion.

He’s a massive talent, and he’s been outstanding the last couple of seasons. I echo the sentiments that he looks as much a future United keeper as Henderson on current showing.

Thanks mate. Makes even more sense now to send him on loan to League 1. A good start for someone to get first senior appearances.

I thought he will get a Championship team.
Henderson began his professional career at tier-5. Moving up a tier with each new loan.

Jan 2016. Stockport - National League North
Aug 2016. Grimbsby - League 2
july 2017. Shrewsbury - League 1
June 2018. Sheffield Utd - Championship
July 2019. Sheffield Utd - Premiership

Kovar starts 2 tiers above Henderson.

Excited to hear how he gets on. Fryers!! there's a blast from the past.
Fryers,... the guy the media tried to beat United over with regarding his move away from United, even though he wasn't that highly regarded and were instead just trying to pile on with the Ravel and Pogba news.
