Why the hell did he get subbed? He played excellently. Very strange.

Pretty good game bar one mistake in first half. There's a very good defender in there, hopefully he stays fit and grasp this chance to regain form. He was absolutely great in his first season for us but wheels have come off since then.

Funny the Lindelof fan boys coming in early trying to down play Bailly's performance, who was arguably our MOTM before his sub.

Was on a yellow, but it was between him and Martial for MoTM for me
Yeah I know but cbs don’t usually get subbed just for a yellow. I get why ole did it but it always feels like 1 small error and he gets subbed where as the others can make all sorts of calamity and they get looked over.

glad he started though, we owe him after those blocks in the 1st half.

He’s rash. He’s obviously a good player but too prone to moments of madness.

Mad to think we had him and Rojo together at the back for a while, bothlunatics.

When he gets a couple of starts in row he always looks immense. A damn shame he is so injury prone.

We had him and Jones in the same lineup at the start of 2017/2018 and they actually looked pretty solid back then. Weird. :D

I like both of them. Both have their merits imo and are 2 completely different defenders but Lindelof is more consistent at the moment though.

I thought he looked good tonight. Very good blocks early on in the first half, looked sharp.

It's a shame he can't maintain his fitness/form for long.

Bailly was really good tonight. When Copenhagen were really pressing us in the first half his defending kept us in it.

100% this

He is too rash to be de facto starter in a team looking to win the title. Always on edge watching him. He has obvious talent but decision making is just too susceptible

it's ridiculous. feel like these people didn't watch the game.

had a quick look on twitter to see what people think because I saw Bailly's name trending:

you know it's bad when twitter is making more sense than Caf

Thought he had a great game and was a little bit miffed when he got taken off, but I thought Lindelof was pretty good when he came on too so no harm done.

Can be a bit rash I know but by the gods I'll take him over any of our current starting center backs... Man's gotta be in the starting 11 from now on.

Mixed bag. Two great saves in first half, but struggled against Wind and was close to a second yellow.

Was our best defender and kept our clean sheet intact in that first half.
I fully understand the reason to sub him, we all know Bailly to be a bit rash, and I definitely could have seen him get another yellow and get himself sent off. Other than that, it's not like Lindelof came in a messed up, so it was a good call in the end.
Overall, very happy and hopefully he can keep up these solid performances and touch wood, stay free from any injuries!

Im not sure about him, he was good defending but you always get the feeling he might do a major feck up, specially after being booked. Different from Maguire who you cant count on him having a yellow and dont turning it into a red one with Bailly youre always nervous.

Was only on a yellow for 7 minutes and I'm not even sure if he made a foul in that time
He has a game style where he tries to tackle a lot. Sometimes he hits the target, sometimes he misses and gets dribbled, and sometimes he kills the opponent. He was also committing fouls in the air, one more and it could have been a second yellow. It was smart to take him off when you have the starting xi CB on the bench anyway.

Looking over my shoulder.
He makes mince meat out of fast strikers, as he did today. I fear Lindelof would have struggled more. He’s rash, but also more proactive than both Lindelof and Maguire.

Yeah I had no issues with it given there's not that much difference between he and Lindelof and it was the time of the game where it was good to freshen things up. Plus being on a yellow. I thought he was unlucky to be penalised aerially so much. Was as well as I've ever seen him timing his headers

 This is fanfiction and never happened
No he never got a second as Ole made the same conclusion and took him off to avoid that. But I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t get away with too many more of those fouls in the air. But obviously being close to a second yellow can not really happen, it can only be a feeling.

It’s more worrying that the coach doesn’t trust him but the decision was ok I think.

When he arrived we recognised that he was talented. Past few games he has looked talented. If he stays injury free and consistent then we have a very good player. If he doesn't then we do not.

Always been evident after a run of games that he's a cracking defender. If only it weren't for the injuries and rash decision making.

This makes no sense. So every player on a yellow is close to a second because "feeling"?

You came in here and said he was close to a second yellow. He wasn't even involved in anything close to meriting a yellow after he got booked, hence the general confusion a couple posters have expressed regarding your assertion.

I’ve certainley been defending Lindelöf quite a few times here, though I’ve no need to slight Eric. I thought he was our best player during his time on the pitch, and thought other players were to blame when København created danger against us.

There is also the point that Maguire and Wan Bissaka played better after Lindelöf came on, and it makes me wonder if it’s to do with Bailly’s disciplin. At the same time, København were more worn down by us at that point.

They had no efforts on goal in 120 mins, so I guess our defenders did a decent job all in all.

I can't help but like Bailly but the amount of stupid F.K's he gives away on a game by game basis in dangerous areas is ridiculous.

Ole obviously had the same feeling, and took him off. Why would he take exactly him off but not anybody else with a yellow, if he was no more risk than anybody else?

His game was aggressive and he was commuting fouls, which made him a risk after the yellow card.

I like how he absolutely goes through players' backs when fighting for a header:lol:.

Defenders are at a higher risk of getting cards, because well, they are the defenders. That doesn't mean he was close to a second yellow. At no point in this game was he close to a second yellow. Bailly isn't the first CB/defender to be subbed off when on a yellow in the history of football. It happens quite regularly.

Like someone else already said, I'm not even sure he committed any fouls after being carded. Please drop the minute mark for the instance(s) in which he was close to a second yellow.
