You're just contradicting yourself now. You're using reports from journos, who you've already claimed are all bullshitting, to discount the claims of another journo. He's maintained the whole time, that we had agreed personal terms and Sancho wanted to come but there was no agreement with Dortmund. He only kept repeating the same shit over and over because he would get bombarded all fecking day by United fans desperate for an update when in reality, there wasn't one.

He can't update you when 1. there is no updates to report or 2. he hasn't been communicated those updates. The only reason people like 'you and I' even know we are in for Sancho is because of people like Fab, so no, I wouldn't say we know as much as they do.

None of that means that he is a psychic who will know every detail about every transfer.
No i'm not at all. I'm not saying the UK journos who all went at the same time are relaible. I'm saying the fact they all went at same time was clearly a brief from our club.

The rest is all hearsay and guess work.

My last post of the day, We need a Director of football to get our transfers done, Not Ed Woodward and / or Matt Judge, I hope we get Sancho.

I think the more energy you put into this the more likely you are to get wound up. I'm relaxed, its obvious it'll happen, just probably going to drag a bit. I advise those easily angered or gullible to just log off for a bit.
Sums it up quite perfectly. Woody won't let Ole down, next season is too important.

Pogba extension and Sancho, can't wait for the next few weeks.

I don't blame Dortmund one bit for how they've held off and are seeking to get the highest price possible. They've got a talented player and won't want to part with him easily, especially as he isn't going to be easy to replace. There's a meta-game with these transfer discussions and, if we are as big a club as we say we are, we have to play the game. There is a scenario where we can all win where United get the player, Sancho gets a move and Dortmund get a feckton of money and are able to have enough time to get in a replacement. The longer it draws out, the less likely I feel that it is going to happen.

If the club don't see the move happening, they'll pull out of it sooner rather than later. I'd like to think that we are beyond the point of going right the way to the transfer window deadline. We can't focus all of our sights on one player for an entire window, that just isn't a good way to do business. Dortmund have set their stall out and have said that the player isn't going anywhere. They don't really mean that, because every player has their price. They are just making it clear that they're not going to want him to leave for less than they could get for him. Seems sensible to me.
Of course they don't want him to leave for less than they think they could get for him.

But what they think they could get for him and what they actually could get for him might not be one and the same.

We are very frustrating in the transfer market and we have been for years.
I'd agree, but I don't really place the blame at our feet this time. Dortmund are completely in their right to stick to their valuation and we are completely in our right to be extremely cautious to spend such an amount given the current global circumstances. I think it's just very unfortunate timing, you have a player who a club doesn't want to sell, but was happy to sell at a set price, you've got a club who probably would have been happy to spend that amount if not for the pandemic. As a result though, we obviously went into it hoping we could lower the price given the pandemic, but it doesn't change the fact that the seller still has no incentive to sell, so they stuck to their terms.

Just unfortunate, but hopefully we use those funds to severely improve the squad

I'm getting pissed off by this saga now, Just pay the fecking money, It pisses me off that we have to drag our transfers, It's annoying to be honest.
Talks started two weeks ago. I'm sure that seems like a long time if you're sat on here all day every day hitting F5, but in reality its not, especially given the sum of money.

Redcafe woke up today
Many posters in collective dismay

Bundesliga posters rejoice,
It seems many have found their voice

A Dortmund player Sancho will remain
As Muppet dreams stutter and wane

And so, the transfer season starts
Like a dagger into United hearts.
I bet people wish you stick to your non - league tweets right now

@Sphaero There are reports that BVB never communicated that there was a deadline to United in negotiations, either through the intermediaries or directly. That United only knew and heard about this deadline through the media. Assuming that is true, wouldn’t you agree that proves the whole big deal about a “deadline” is more a negotiation tactic and looking big and strong for PR, rather than a serious threat? Sure, you would love to have the money early and prepare early and get your replacement in early, but if that were really as important to you as we are being told, why wouldn’t BVB actually tell that to United?
The existence of this deadline (whether you choose to believe in it or call it a bluff) has been made abundantly clear via German press, a couple of days ago Zorc (or was it Watkze?) even basically officially confirmed it by lending quotes to an article on the topic. Consequently it has been adressed over and over via the British press. It's not like this dropped out of nowhere and since it's still important to them that Sancho is happy (or at least not sulking) I would assume that he knew the parameters of Dortmund's demands as well. Saying United never really knew about a deadline sounds like an attempt to safe face.

Very true, and that's why it's important that we have a good team/group of people who can negotiate a "reasonable" price.

Although, from the many tweets that have been posted in here from those journalists/reporters/those in the know, it appears that United and Dortmund's valuations are not that far away, but the issue seems to be the structure of the payments. E.g. how much Dortmund get up front and how much we're willing to pay for that initial payment. Of course, it's difficult to determine how much of this is true and where exactly we are with negotiations, because we don't really know the ins and outs.

We have money in the pot for this transfer, I'm sure of that, but I'm dubious that we'll then be willing to finance other deals for other positions that we need. We don't have an obvious player on the way out who will generate transfer funds either, or at least not of a truly significant value. There's the likes of Smalling moving on and other squad players who may/will be surplus. If we were to miss out on this transfer, it does mean that the money is there to address other areas, so it won't be the absolute end of the world. But, that's a silver lining, which is a bit different from a clear strategy from the get-go.

He's worth every penny and then some.

Also, the effects of Covid on a multibillion company like United would be minimal at best, barely a drop in the ocean. Dortmund will be very much aware of this.
We reported losses in the last quarter, and all top clubs are expected to lose more than 100 million in this fiscal year.

Make of it what you will.

Maybe we'll take a page out of Madrid's book and let this saga play out until the next transfer window. Depends how confident we feel about Sancho's mind being set on United and not turned by Pool / Madrid / Barca etc. next year.
Pool won’t have money with corona, Barca need to replace their entire team, and J think we can outbid Chelsea.

Real and City could be a real challenge though (and I don’t believe this City don’t want him back for a moment).

Martial is better at everything but putting the ball in the net to be fair. His link up play, passing and dribbling is far superior.

Haaland though is deadly in front of goal, so there is that. He wouldn't score anywhere near as many goals in our team with the service put it that way.
Keep hearing this but the 'poor service' argument goes both ways. Service will automatically look poor if you're trying to serve someone who doesn't want to be served. Our forwards are scorers of great goals. But they lack the anticipation and awareness to score basic goals.

Last night the ball was played across the five yard box and it went out for a throw-in. Everyone was criticising AWB for not looking up, and if you look at the situation in isolation then yes he should have looked up because the ball he played went out for a throw-in. But if you ask any proper goal-hungry CF they'd want that ball played exactly where it was played. Put Haaland or Lewa in the exact same situation and that's the easiest tap-in they'll score all season.

Yes our service isn't that good but at the same time we need to realise that our forwards aren't the smartest in the box.

Ole has also made this point publicly quite a few times - he wants them to score easy goals as well.

He's said that the contract is agreed between the club and player but from Dortmund's stance seems like it's wrong too. The very obvious brief went out last week to our journos that we had no deal with either club or player.

And other than that he's said if United pay the fee Dortmund want then he's ours. WOW! Going out on a limb with a scoop like that isn't he? Hahahahaha

This is what transfers does to people. White smoke appears over the stadium, flight checkers the lot. It's why these guys do what they do. He's got no more idea than you or I. They don't know the ins and outs of every single deal. How could anyone? A lot of it is educated guess work, vague tweets that can be interpreted lots of ways. But people fall for it all the time.
Well, he might know the agent of Okaka. And he tried to enter the hotels where ‘the agents’ stay. So obviously he is informed and BREAKS the transfer news. Like when he said that if United pays what BVB wants, we will get the player. Such insight there.

I don't think I am. My point is you can't tell the press over and over again that there is a deadline, (likely) tell it to the player who is in contact with United, but somehow keep United in the dark about it. That doesn't make sense: at the very least United would have asked them, or Lichtsteiner if he was actually involved, at some point about whether this deadline is actually true and if they had been lied to in the answer then I think headlines we'd be getting would be quite different.

It's pre-season, players do interviews and Q&As all the time during these training camps and naturally the journalists ask them about Sancho, since his future has been the dominating topic these past couple of weeks.

Who knows what the feck is going on with this potential transfer, I’d love it if we signed him, he’s quality and he’d be just what we need.

Personally I think for whatever reason (deadline not met, fee not agreed, Woodward being twat etc) this isn’t going to happen but obviously Zorc the dork doesn’t mind looking like a cnut by going back on what he says, we all know he has previous but I just get the sense he means it this time.

Maybe Sancho will hand in a transfer request or kick up a fuss but again I don’t think that’ll happen, not that I know the character of the kid, I hope he does if this is the only way to get it done it wouldn’t bother me.

Ain’t got a scooby who we should go for instead but I’m going to try and not stay invested in this.

Just towing the club line.
Seems like they're not only putting the pressure on United to cough up, but also on Sancho to commit to another season it seems. The fact that they're going to this extent seems to me that Sancho does want to leave, and they're trying to change his mind by having everyone come out and show support. This one is far from done, and i imagine Dortmund are going to look pretty silly at the end of it (albeit a lot richer)

Yeah, it hurts to say it, but I have really lost all faith in this transfer happening now.
I don’t even think a bid of €120M paid all at once would be accepted.

If we do get him in eventually, I hope that's the last time we do business with them tbqh. They've been doing entirely too much with all the dick swinging and daily media updates/comments to play up an image of strength when they've been known as a stepping stone club for years.

It's so transparent too with all the chest puffing coming right after their public spat with Bayern execs. Hope we do eventually give them their money, because the player in question is actually worth it, and feck off from them in the future.

He agreed a deal, then went back on his word after he found out match day income would be affected by the UK governments announcement that fans wouldn't be allowed back into stadiums at the start of the season.
Yeah sure. He didn’t know that the match income will be affected in a time of pandemic.

Seriously, how people buy this shit?

I think Dortmund are trying to change their image. They're already in the top 20 for gross revenue earned, which is way better than where they used to be 10 years ago. In order to become consistent challengers for the domestic league, they'll have to keep their best players. This might just be them showing that they'll do that, though like United and their inability to keep top-tier Latin players, I struggle to see how Dortmund can keep their foreign stars for long enough.

Fair enough. But still, that has not prevented United from actively pursuing a target they know to cost a minimum of £100 million, even in a post-Covid market.

My point is that the financial impact of Covid affects every club differently. While some clubs struggle to stay afloat from the loss of matchday revenue, others simply have a reduced transfer budget. I didn't explain that in my original post, perhaps I should have.

Just listened to a journalist from Germany on Talksport about 20 mins ago. He seems pretty confident that Sancho will stay now and that this situation is different to the Dembele and Aubamayeng in that the contract has another 3 years and if Dortmund dont get a massive offer, they will keep him as they desire to win the Bundesliga and feel this could be their season. I genuinely hope thats not true of course.

Other respected and reliable journalists are reporting that a deal is close and the fee has been agreed and its just the structure that needs agreement. Who knows, it really is a waiting game now!

Until Utd categorically come out and say they will not be signing Sancho this summer and withdraw any interest, then this will rumble on. I really hope Ole has emphasised to the board exactly how much we need to get Sancho in.

United briefed last night after all this came out that they were still hopeful of a deal, so obviously there is still stuff going on behind the scenes.
It really is just a waiting game, and if Sancho does want to leave, then i imagine eventually he'll hand in a transfer request if he's serious. Who knows what'll happen though... but seeing as we briefed early on saying we've cooled interest in Grealish and made Sancho our priority, we must have some very strong faith in this going through at some point.

Sorry, meant to say lose in revenue more than 100m, not report financial losses of that amount.

We honestly do not know how much we were willing to pay on Sancho, and how we planned structuring the deal. I think there is no chance in hell we will pay 100m upfront considering that apparently our cash reserves now are under 100m and you don’t use all of them to buy a single player, especially not during the biggest recession in close to a century.

The only way we can pay 120m euros upfront for Sancho is if we get a new debt.

This is quite funny considering most people are calling the Bayern team one of the best in the world, they have improved their squad with Sane so, I expect a one horse title race.

I used to like Dortmund as a club.. this might leave a sour taste.

Well exactly, it’s so absurd that if it were actually true, it would completely prove beyond any doubt that the deadline is less about Dortmund’s preparations than it is about PR and negotiations.

Whether it’s true or not, we both may never know. I find it hard to believe myself but I won’t say it’s impossible.
