Abandon Utd - Find a new club

In a hypothetical scenario where Man Utd have been riddled with too much debt that the club has folded and ceased to exist, what do you do now?

Obviously it would be devestating for us all and God forbid it never happens, but being football fans we would naturally want to have an affiliation with a team.

We now have to move on and find a new team to give our blood, sweat and tears to. Which club would you go on to support instead? :)

comfortable and settled in my rut
Probably a local non league one. Couldn't' support another big team in the UK.

Oh and either Deportivo or Sevilla due to half my family being from Galicia and Andalucia. Seville probably, would give me an excuse to get out there on occasion. Amazing city

I wouldn't support anybody else in the English Game I would watch the premiership with a passing interest but would probably have little interest in it without United .

I randomly thought about this scenario after reading an article related to our current debt/loans. It would be extremely weird considering 95% of the football I watch is Premier league, but then not having a team to support would make it so tough. I would naturally want to support a premier league team but I still have no idea who I would eventually fall for!

I'd just go all in and glory support Madrid or something. If I'm getting a choice I'm not setting myself up for a life time of misery.

To be fair, I think I'd probably do something similar! :D All aboard the Glory Hunting boat. I mean why would you start afresh and choose someone like Newcastle where your just destined for hammer blows one after another!

Norwich. I now live 20 minutes from the stadium. They're a well run club with a good fanbase.

Rangers due to family ties. I love rugby and golf as other sports and I already follow Glasgow Warriors and Canterbury Crusaders from New Zealand, so those too.

wise choice, let's go to some random thread to repeat that we have 13 European cups ,then we'll pick a miserable team and steal the fan's favorite player

I actually did contemplate this when rumours of a Saudi takeover were surfacing. Couldn't come up with an alternative. I'd probably lose a lot of interest in football and become a St Pauli supporter.

I mean, we all arbitrarily picked Man Utd based on what your dad told you, location or familiarity in a publicity sense. I chose them because my mates supported them when I was 6, why did they pick them - probably because they won stuff.

Could I change now? Not a fecking chance. I’d sooner lose all interest in football.

I’m a Man Utd fan, I’m not a football fan.

I would pick Leeds so I could spend the rest of my life hating myself. Or Le Havre, cause why not?

No idea. Would probably just have teams I like and prefer to win/others don't like but I doubt I'd support any other club like United. Maybe over time. Would likely be play style related and how they're run and how they build their teams. Like Leicester over the last few years, there is loads to admire there. Spurs I always found annoying and never liked them, same with Arsenal and Chelsea, Liverpool and City obviously rivals and forever hatred. I'd still watch the premier league all the time so I'm sure I would grow to like/cheer for some other team. Maybe I'd go down the route of whoever equally dislikes both City and Liverpool.

Growing up I had one favourite team per league. Ac Milan, Valencia, Dortmund and Celtic. So either one of those. But I'll replace Valencia with RM.

Probably Bayern considering that I will live there and they always win titles.

Would probably not watch EPL anymore though.

More likely though, I would stop watching club football and maybe turning only for World Cups and Euros, asking my friends for whom plays every player.

PNE. Hometown team, used to work for them so watched them a lot during that time. I dare say their gate would dramatically increase if United folded.

Probably some plucky middling team from the Championship that plays entertaining football. I'd think I'd enjoy hoping for promotion every season, and then trying to avoid relegation if the team ever actually made it.

Probably get more invested in my local team (Wycombe). I’d support Villarreal/Atlético and Roma I guess. Always had a soft spot for those teams

To be honest, I'd be finished with English football. I'm already a fully paid up member of linfield fc & been a season ticket holder for the guts of 25 years. So I would be fully concentrated on linfield.

But hopefully this isn't an issue in my lifetime & beyond. I get to 1 or 2 United games a season(this season I didn't get to any although I had a couple of games lined up before the suspension of the league) and go to linfield games home & away the rest of the season & have went on several European games as well.

Heaven forbid. I wouldn’t support any other club, I couldn’t.

It would almost certainly kill off the last of my already fading love for the game.

Id sign out of this place for the last time, pack in my sky and BT Sport subscription and turn to booze in an effort to fill the Manchester United sized hole in my life.

I don’t like this one, got any other games? :(

Altrincham if any. Used to go when United were away mostly as a kid and a few times in my teens as well. Haven't been in a long time though, as in this millennium.

Still look out for thier results from time to time. Not every week, more like once a month or so and keep an eye on the table. Just got promoted back to the National League which is where they mostly were when I used to go and see them. Been as low as the 7th tier in recent years so it's good to see them in the 5th, where they belong in my mind.
