I mean, we all arbitrarily picked Man Utd based on what your dad told you, location or familiarity in a publicity sense. I chose them because my mates supported them when I was 6, why did they pick them - probably because they won stuff.

Could I change now? Not a fecking chance. I’d sooner lose all interest in football.

I’m a Man Utd fan, I’m not a football fan.
Ever since I graduated college and stopped playing football regularly I also realised I have no interest in football but United. Its so bad I cant even watch a highly televised game like el classico without losing interest or doing something else in the background. Dont even think I care for a champions league final that doesn't include us. Only United and The Worldcup interest me these days.

I would probably invest more time in my adopted club Santos (family reasons) and follow their results more closely.

I have also always liked the idea of being involved at a smaller club, like buying a few shares or whatever and getting properly invested in their fortunes.

I love football too much to leave it behind.

Always had a soft spot for Spurs though success has gotten to their heads a bit. Liked them when Berbs, Keane and Modric were playing for them, so probably will end up a spurs fan.

Can't really let go of the PL, nothing else in footy provides the same level of entertainment.

Same. I'm not sure my commitment to the sport would endure without United. There are plenty of things I like about the game, but there's a lot of nonsense that has put me off the sport too.

Memories and life events are shared with this club. I grew up with united united united. I dont even enjoy football as a sport if it isn't involving united. For that reason I wouldn't support anyone and I'm not sure I'd even watch much apart from the odd video on YouTube.

I don't think I'd follow anyone. Just become a neutral and just "watch football". Would always want City/Liverpool etc to lose though.

In a hypothetical scenario where Man Utd have been riddled with too much debt that the club has folded and ceased to exist, what do you do now?

Obviously it would be devestating for us all and God forbid it never happens, but being football fans we would naturally want to have an affiliation with a team.

We now have to move on and find a new team to give our blood, sweat and tears to. Which club would you go on to support instead? :)
Nope personally i'm a Man Utd fan not really a football fan anymore, barely have the time to watch United these days nor the interest to watch other teams anymore.

If United went bust i'd be gutted but would take it as an opportunity to rid myself of the burden of being so emotionally invested in the fortunes of a football team.

I'll be a neutral. Maybe football will be more enjoyable without having to be stressed about your team results.

I'd probably just watch a few big European games occasionally and maybe a bit of my local team (Internacional) that most of my family and friends support, but nothing passionately like United, this romance is unique :)

I wouldn't support anyone. I would just devote the rest of my life to trolling Arsenal supporters. Not that I hate that club or anything. It's just really fun to troll gooners...

I don’t think I’d have another club to be honest. I’d still enjoy watching the premier league as much as I do today, just without the added stress and anxiety. Maybe I’d get more into the German league.

Looking at your location, that surprises me. I thought the Atlanta United FC hype and support would have been contagious

Nope dont care about them either. I went live to the opening game 3 years ago and havent given a shite about them since. Not even when they were good a year ago. Why worry about another team when United already raise your blood pressure enough?

You also have to understand that its hard following the MLS in the evening after watching the league all day on a saturday.

I also hate them as much and enjoy trolling them. My twin brother is an arsenal fan so theres the motive. We also grew up in a time when they where our main competitive rivals for the title.

I would probably switch to the club where the current favourite players in United move to (like Rashford, Martial, Mctominay, etc.). Might also consider switching to another league probably.

I have a bunch of gooners that i banter with that used to be on the old ESPN forum boards. When ESPN took those forums down one of them started a tapatalk Arsenal forum and invited me along. We have a good go at each other, but unfortunately most of the people who used to be around in the beginning and from ESPN are gone now...

FC Nordsjælland

Founded in 2003. Stadium called Right to Dream Park. Tom Vernon (previously a scout at Man Utd ) is the CEO of Right to Dream, a side situated in Ghana.

FC Nordsjælland has laid the foundation for providing an education centered around social responsibility and strong character both on and off the pitch.

Despite initially being an NGO and grass-roots initiative, managed to have a galvanising influence. Serves as both a football academy and Cambridge International School consisting of almost 100 students.

via their website:
  • 34 academy students have become professional players in the United States and Europe
  • 51 students have won full scholarships to top schools and colleges across the US and UK
  • Academy students have accessed over $40M in educational scholarships
  • The Academy has created the first residential football program for girls in Africa

In December 2015, FC Nordsjælland was subject to a takeover by none other than the aforementioned NGO, Right to Dream.

In the span of only a few years, the club touted the youngest average squad across Europe at 21.4 years old and held a squad composition of roughly 88% academy products according to Sam Price of The Sustainability Report. Encouragingly, many of these players were Right to Dream graduates. The club has since set a goal of holding a squad composition of 100% academy products this year.

"The reason for [FC Nordsjælland] being unique among football clubs is that it is owned by a not-for-profit organization, which means that the money that we’re making is all being re-invested into more opportunities for young people to have their dreams fulfilled. We try to integrate social issues like gender equality into our beliefs and what we stand for, and then get fans, partners and the community to support it and push in the right direction.”

The first club to partner with the Common Goal initiative. Common Goal, co-created by Juan Mata. "We donate one percent of our stadium turnover," explains chief executive Soren Kristensen. "We signed up on the pitch here with Kasper Schmeichel, who is one of their ambassadors. We also have over 50 players and staff who donate one percent of their salary."

FC Nordsjaelland women's team is another positive story and have enjoyed three successive promotions. They train on the same stadium pitch as their male counterparts. "The club are trying to give us the same opportunities, we have the same training facilities and the same gym rooms," says midfielder Esther Ronn. "We have almost as many physios, so we feel that we are a valued part of the club."

"Every kid that is in the Right to Dream academy in Ghana and every kid at the FCN academy in Denmark is working on a give-back project appropriate to their age," adds Vernon. "There are a multitude of projects going on. One player even rebuilt the mosque in his home town.

Once they reach the age of 10, and provided a candidate has been accepted, they receive a sex year scholarship security blanket. 5 years is the minimum length one must stay at Right to Dream. Many go to the U.S. A total of $43 million has been raised in scholarships.

exporting an African philosophy into Europe. Mohammud Kudus just joined Ajax from FC Nordsjælland

Reality with United is even if liquidated a new club with a different “corporate name” would arise phoenix like.
They would wear the same kit play at OT and keep the trophy cabinets. new owners and might be forced to start in league 2 ( think Rangers....)

I sometimes wish this would happen.

I love United. If there's a game on which I can't watch for some reason then I can't sleep just knowing they're playing. Having said that, I hate that I care so much about a bunch of millionaires who don't eve know I exist. I hate that those anonymous jocks can put me in a bad mood if they don't play well, even for a couple of days after losing a big match.

I'll never be able to stop supporting them, so in a way I'd like the club to fold so that I can leave this stupid infatuation with them behind me and not pay attention any longer.

Or I might just support Brighton.

I have a few friends that don't support a team but just like watching football... so I'll probably become one of those people. Might lean towards certain clubs at certain times depending on their style of play/players, and maybe go watch Huddersfield games, but I don't think i'd ever be able to support anyone with the intensity that I do United.

I think I'd lose interest in football if so, but maybe have more of a passing interest and start going to some Salford games.
