This is a massive two fingers up at those who believe that the club don't have a plan.
VDB was hardly mentioned with United until a few days ago, yet here we are on the brink.
Maybe, just maybe, the club does have a plan and is actioning on that plan.
Pretty much everything the club have done over the last 18 months suggests that we have a plan

Honestly quite pleased with the signing, adds a well needed injection of quality to Ole's MF options. Very sensible signing

If Ajax were jerks they'd be Dortmund
I mean Ajax are in the Netherlands and Dortmund are in Germany. Ajax has about a 0% chance of becoming a long term threat to win international titles. Dortmund are trying to move past the 'selling club' image and are looking to challenge nationally and internationally. They have no actual intention of selling Sancho.

Is he even better than camavinga??? We seem like the only ones interested in a player whose main strength is versatility.

Hopefully this gets done quickly. Will be a great addition to our midfield. Will be a very good way to kick start our market.

Not superexcited about this but decent addition in a position we definitely need to strengthen.
We need to be able to rotate a bit in midfield to keep players fresh over a 60 game long season.

I think this transfer deal is quite inconsiderate on Utd's part. They didn't even spare a thought for the fans. All our Caf members have been caught off guard and didn't even have the chance to zip down and whip it out. Unbelievable Geoff!

We weren't the only ones interested. He was bound for Real Madrid but they couldn't complete the deal. He was well sought after around Europe.

Good signing gives us some much needed quality in the squad, looking forward to seeing his goals and assists.

Reminds me of McGinn, who everyone was raving about before his injury. If we get this one over the line, I think he'll prove to be a good signing. Hardworking midfielder, who can cover for Pogba and Bruno.

Id argue against the last line. Bayern get away with it because they play a high line and have Muller working back with Thiago and the midfield working incredibley hard. The ball playing, deep laying midfielder are being fazed out of modern football because they encourage the high press from oppostion midfields.
Nobody really keeps the ball and plays through the middle anymore. Even Pep sacrificed this a little bit with Rodri and Gundogan in there.
Even PSG turned a corner in CL with 2 hard working ball winners in midfield with Verrati injured.
Good post mate. The game is now controlled not just by having good technical players but also having players who can enforce high pressure. Most players can pass the ball, but can they pass the ball/advance play under high pressure with passing lanes cut off?

This is why it's important to have a specialist DM with mobility who is tenacious next to a ball player.

45 million is including all bonus. So it would be 40+5 million.
Yep understood. Great fee it appears, for a 23 year old versatile midfielder who is said to be a great professional too.

Dont think we have a chance for the lad, even if he would move this summer, which i doubt. Top of the shelf clubs will be after him, clubs that are in the race for the league title/CL. We are still a bit off in that regard

Thread title change?

Good news as adds much needed quality depth to our midfield. A Bruno injury dismantles the current team IMO.

Like all I'm hearing about his attitude/work ethic too.

Good signing, gives us much needed squad depth.

Relieved tbh I thought we could start next season without a new signing.

I see a lot of people are saying how this lad is going to be good cover.

I actually think he's the right profile to offer great competition and not just cover

A lot of members won't realise what a fantastic signing this is until he plays for us. You will see the effect he has with his technical quality which is top class. There is a reason why Real Madrid were keen to get their hands on him.

He's a lot more experienced then Camavinga and has been a big performer for Ajax on the biggest stages.

He inches away from joining Madrid in January after agreeing to terms with them. Camavinga's potential ceiling might be higher but he'd also likely cost close to twice as much. VdB is a better fit right now for what Ole's trying to do.

Also doubt Camavinga signs for anyone other than Zidane, who's got his sights set on him, whenevee he does leave

Lets see how he performs. Not my plan A, but if he performs, i wouldn't care. I still have my doubts about him, depending on where he would play for us (more offensive or defensive). I will stay objective, as usual

Fantastic signing! If he went to a rival, people would be asking “why weren’t we in for him”?

He basically ensures that the quality of the midfield won’t drop despite games coming think and fast. He has got enough about him to be a massive success here and he is a quality player who wants to be here.

It’s a great signing!
